1 artistic constellation copying Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to create constellations out of colored candies. Each player on the team should take a constellation card and using the photo on the card, recreate the constellation out of the colored candies provided on the table in front of them. Once the constellation is complete, the leader will verify it is correct. Once everyone on the team has finished creating their constellations and had them verified, the event is complete. Course Reset: After the course has been completed, the team should stack the pile of constellation cards and return the colored candies to the bowl.

4 Matching Marathon Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to correctly match all of the cards in the certification memory game with their corresponding pair. One half of the cards include pictures of plants and animals that can be found in the local area, and the other half include the name of each of those plants and animals. Taking turns, one player on the team will choose two cards to flip over trying to match a photo of a plant/animal to its name. Teams can help their teammate decide which cards to choose, but everyone should participate and take a turn actually making the choice. Once the team has successfully flipped over and matched all of the pairs, the event is complete. Setup: Once all matches have been found, team must reset the matching game for the next team.

9 recycling relay Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to correctly sort a container full of recyclable items into three separate piles of plastic, paper, and other. To start, all team members should line up in a single file line with the person at the front of the line standing right behind the starting line. When the leader says go, the first person must go to the container, pick out an item, place it in the correct pile, and go back and tag the next team member who will do the same thing. Teams will continue the relay until all recyclables have been sorted correctly. Once all items have been sorted, the leader should verify that they are sorted correctly. Any items not sorted correctly incur a 10- second penalty. Setup: After sorting has been verified, the team must return all of the recyclable items to the original container.

13 sand diving Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to search through a pool full of sand to find enough food items for three complete meals. Teams should start by lining up in a single file line with the first person standing right behind the starting line. When the leader says go, the first person should start digging in the sand trying to find one of five types of items - fruit, vegetable, protein, dairy, or bread/starch. Once they have found one of those items, they should place it in the corresponding section on one of the three meal plates provided. So if they found a carton of milk, they would put it in the dairy section on one of the three meal plates. Once they are done, they should tag the next teammate who will go and find another item of food. If a team member finds a type of food that they no longer need to fill up the three plates (i.e., if they find a carton of milk but all three plates already have dairy filled in), they must keep searching until they find an item they are still missing. The event ends once all three meal plates have been filled with each of the five types of food. Course Reset: After the event is over, return all food items to the pool and cover with sand.

14 3-Man Transport Relay Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to demonstrate four ways to transport injured victims. Teams should start by lining up as a team on the starting line. When the leader says go, a team member should flip over the first card. The card will include which form of transport they should do for this leg of the relay. The team should decide who will be doing the transport and who the injured victim is, for this leg. Once the decision has been made, the team members should transport the injured victim from the starting line to the finish line. Once they ve reached the finish line, they can return to the team, and the team can flip over the next card and start the next leg of the relay. All team members should participate in at least one transport, either as someone doing the transport or an injured victim. If team members are unsure of how to do a transport, they can look it up in the camp manual provided. Course Reset: After the event is over, the team should stack the transport cards back up for the next team.

16 table tying Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to tie four different kinds of knots and have them verified by the leaders. To start, each team member should pick one of the face down knot cards and take a piece of rope. Once they have their knot card, they should tie the knot on their card and once done, ask the leader to check it for them. The event is finished once all team members have successfully tied the knot on their card. If teams need help with how to tie the knots, they can use the camp manuals provided. Course Reset: After the event is over, the team must untie all knots and return the cards and pieces of rope to the supply area.

18 Freestyle orienteering Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to use compasses to get from a designated starting point to a leader at a designed ending point. Teams should line up at the starting line and will be given their first clue (e.g., Walk 10 steps north). Teams should use their compass to follow the directions to find the first country they will be visiting. Each country along the course will have another clue and a set of country flags. Teams should pick up ONE flag from each of the countries they visit along the course to verify that they did in fact visit each country. Once teams reach the final country, they should return to the starting point of the course and show the leaders the flags. Each flag that is missed and not brought to the leader at the end of the course will incur a 1-minute penalty. As each team moves along the course, team members should rotate reading the compass, leading the group, reading the clues, etc. so that everyone has a chance to participate. Course Reset: After the course has been completed, the team should return the compasses to the leader at the start of the course.

36 Cross- Country Stringing Instructions: In this event, teams will be required to make their way through a string maze by answering questions about certification correctly. Throughout the maze, teams will be required to answer certification questions to determine which direction (right, left, or straight) to go. If the teams answers incorrectly, they will be led to a dead end and will have to return to the question and try again until they answer the question correctly and go the right direction. Once teams get to the end of the maze, they must find the password and then return to the leaders at the beginning of the race and give them the password. Time will be stopped once the correct password is given to the leaders.
