1 General Notes: All Equipment will be carried on the Patrol s sled. Each Sled will have a Patrol Flag adorned in some manner. Each scout must have the 10 Essentials with them during the events. City Event Description Equipment by Patrol Equipment Willow 1) Snow Melt - Fire The object of this event is to build a fire and boil at least 8 A small pot to hold at least 8 oz. of water. Spaghetti 2 Per Patrol LEADERSHIP Building ounces of water to cook a Water piece of spaghetti until it folds over a stick (al dente) in the shortest period of time. 6 pieces of spaghetti will be provided by the event staff, so Only natural wood, as it would occur in the woods, may be used. Please refer to the section Gather Tinder, Kindling, and Fuel wood of The Boy Scout Handbook. LIGHTING OF FIRE all teams start equally. Once the pot of water is put over the fire, no fuel can be an appropriate Spark Catcher, as described on pages of the Tenth Edition of the Flint and Steel - 30 Pts Hot Spark (no Magnesium allowed) -20 Pts added. 2 City Event Description Equipment by Patrol Equipment Skwenta 2) Patrol Snowshoe Race Place the Snowshoes on the ground, side by side. Each scout in a stands with one foot on each board and holds onto a rope on each board. As a team, the Patrol walks by lifting a foot and pulling that rope up at the same time. The Patrol must cover the course distance as a unit. If one or more scouts steps off the snowshoe, the Patrol must return the last obstacle and start from that position. THIS IS A TIMED EVENT. The starts when the first Patrol member places their foot on the snowshoe and ends when they return to end of the snowshoe crosses the start/finish line. Patrols are responsible for bringing the needed supplies. Using simple materials such as a tarp, rope, and spars, Scouts must build a shelter large enough for the. The Scouts are assessed on time and the quality of the shelter, such as amount of protection, protection from wind, and sturdiness.
