3 What is the Unified Golf Tour? High performance event More travel & courses Meet & play against others in the state Additional way to qualify for State Tournament Earn points in 3 different ways to advance Use Unified golf rules as stated in PIG Some Tour-specific rules will supersede Unified rules Takes place between Summer Games and Golf Sectionals 3

7 Entry Process Timing of entries will fall around Summer Games Separate entry form for Unified Tour Unified Tour entry form covers Sectionals & State No qualifying scores needed Rank preferred stops on entry form 27 team maximum at each stop Must commit to 3 stops to sign-up Each stop played counts as qualifying score for Sectionals or State Waive requirement for 4 qualifying scores if a team plays at 3 stops 7

8 Point System No qualifying scores = no divisions Each team randomly assigned to group at each stop 3 ways to earn points 1. Participation 200 points per stop played (points distributed to other teams if no show) 2. Finish vs. Other Teams earn points based on where you finished in relation to all other teams 3. Finish vs. Par earn points based on how you finished compared to par 8

9 Finish vs. Other Teams Points earned on interval scale based on number of teams at the stop (1 st place = 100 points) Points = 100 [(Place 1) x (100 # teams)] Possible for a team finishing 10 th at 2 different stops to earn 2 different point amounts Example 1: Team A finishes 10 th at Stop A which has 20 teams. Points = 100 [(10 1) x (100 20] = 55. Example 2: Team A finishes 10 th at Stop B which has 25 teams. Points = 100 [(10 1) x (100 25)] = 64. 9

11 Finish vs. Par Points earned based on the following scale: = 110 points = 100 points = 90 points = 80 points = 70 points = 60 points = 50 points 11

12 Advancing to State ½ number of Unified Golf Tour teams advance Maximum of 36 Awarded spots in State Tournament based on total points accumulated Must compete in 3 Tour stops to be eligible Tiebreakers 1. Lowest stroke average 2. Most Tour stops played 3. Coin flip Teams failing to advance through Tour still have chance to advance through Sectionals 12

19 October-December Secure a course Discuss pricing Set date and time Create a budget see budget page Seek possible sponsorship

20 January-February Send out the $$ donor letter request Ask for donations of door prizes Collect prizes Layout a plan for the number of volunteers needed Secure the golf pro or a rules person for on site Team photos-secure a volunteer to do this Submit to SOIN application for a tour stop

21 March-May Look for additional sponsorship Send letter requesting door prizes Follow up on the letter with personal contact Review date, time, and details with the golf course Ask local high school golf coach to work with you and secure their golf team to volunteer as score keepers Make a plan for the door prize distribution Determine necessary signage

22 June Ask your counties unified teams to secure 1 door prize per person Recruit volunteers to help with check in and door prizes. Hang up a sign up sheet and ask members at the course to volunteer Make list for day of equipment Order volunteer t-shirts Discuss a plan for rain delay or weather issue

24 July Talk to golf course about food Make golf team hole assignments Make a list of volunteer duties for the day Send event details/timeline to all counties attending Send list of pairs to golf course so they can prepare a poster with team names and scores Make a plan for water delivery on the course Review the check in procedures
