1 The Musketeer East ern High School May/June/July 2014 Pekin, Indiana National Honor Society News The National Honor Society hosted their annual Easter Egg hunt at the elementary school Saturday, April 19. Over 1500 eggs were hidden on the elementary school playground for the children to find. Other NHS news includes the Induction Ceremony for new members, which will take place Wednesday, May 7. Food Service Reminders Charging will not be allowed after May 2. Students must have money in their lunch account or cash to pay for food items. This notice has been posted in all cafeterias as well as on the school website. This year, the expectation is that all lunch accounts, if negative, are to be paid in full by the end of the last student day, May 29, Positive balances will roll over to the next school year. Summer Lunch Program Students eighteen years old and younger are invited to participate in the Summer Food Program at Eastern High School. Lunch will be served Monday through Friday, June 2-27 and July Meals will be served 11:00-12:30 each day. This is open to any student in the community. Meals are free to students, and adult meals can be purchased for a small fee. This is available to us through the National School Lunch Program and the USDA Sports Practices For the school year, all athletes must have a physical on file before they will be allowed to practice. Reminders from Guidance The due date for students currently enrolled in a credit recovery course is May 1. All seniors completing credit recovery courses should plan accordingly. The AP Calculus Exam will be given Wednesday, May 7 at 8 a.m. The AP English Literature and Composition Exam will be given Thursday, May 8 at 8 a.m. Awards Day will be Tuesday, May 27 beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by graduation practice. New Immunization Requirements Please note that the immunization requirements for the school year have changed. All students who will be seniors must have a second Meningococcal vaccination. This is a state requirement for school attendance. Please check with your primary care physician and make sure your student has had two Meningococcal vaccinations. Students entering their senior year next fall may be excluded from school if not up-to-date with these new vaccination requirements. Medication Reminder Parents who want to bring their child s medications home at the end of the school year must send a written note requesting the medications be released to their child. All medication not picked up within two weeks of the end of the school year will be discarded.
