1 THE CLUB AT ARROWCREEK Issue #3 The Club at ArrowCreek March 2018 A Message from our New General Manager Dear Members: I am humbled and pleased to have been selected as the General Manager for The Club at ArrowCreek. My official start date began on March 1 along with our much needed 3 day snow event. I look forward to being part of the success the club has enjoyed over the past few years. Over the next few weeks, I will communicate with the Membership scheduled Meet the Manager events providing all of you the opportunity to share your feedback, thoughts, and goals of how we collectively move the club forward. Call Don t forget we offer Kids Club on Thursdays & Fridays, as well as special Events. Please keep in mind if your kids are not signed in for Kids club, they should be dining at the table. Which will ensure everyone has a great dining experience as well as the safety for your children.

2 Hopefully the weather breaks soon, so we can start getting the golf courses ready for the season. March 16th personally marks my 5th anniversary here at Arrowcreek. It seems like a much longer time with all the changes we've all gone through. I know optimistically in the past I've stated that we're almost there with a quality maintenance program and close to having the courses in the kind of shape that we can all be proud of. Going into my 6th season, I truly believe this is the year, and can only reflect on the positive strides that we've taken thus far, especially the last 3 years since FOA and Century Golf Partners have taken over. Take a look at our new (slightly used) rough mower! This thing is sweet! It's exactly like our other large area rough mower, only 8 years newer. Think of it - now we can mow roughs in half the time, and keep the rough height from getting out of hand. Also, look at all that FOA has done for our maintenance program in 3 short years - updated our sprinkler control system to state-of-the-art, replaced 3 irrigation pumps, purchased 2 brand new best-youcan-buy greens mowers, purchased a new large area spray rig that can't be beat, a new fairway aerator and core pulverizer, and pumped money into our maintenance program for staffing, fertilizers, gypsum, chemicals, and all the other things too numerous to mention. All that, plus the member donations through the 'Adopt a hole' program for sprinkler heads, as well as, all new donated bunker rakes and some of our Member s donated time that has helped us to accomplish our goals. There are certainly more improvements that would make our program even better, like a slightly larger crew, new greens rollers, and other helpful items. And I have no doubt these things will come sooner rather than later. The Club at Arrowcreek is truly and amazing club with an amazing membership! How can we not succeed? March is the month for repairing all of the winter damage, getting our bunkers back into shape, and prepping our bad areas for seeding and sodding in April. We plan to bring our seasonal crew back earlier this year (this month), and be as close as possible to being fully staffed by April. If we're able to accomplish this, we'll be miles ahead of previous seasons. We have big plans and high expectations for Thanks for everything that you do, and for being a member at ArrowCreek! 3 Cassie s Corner Engagement Season is officially over, but that doesn t stop us from continuing to book our event spaces! Whether it s a shower, birthday party, school function/dance or graduation party, we are here for you (and your friend s) party planning needs! Our calendar is filling up, so inquire today. On the bright side we re stocking up on much needed water for the upcoming summer season. Another positive note is that the kitchen is still producing hot and delicious meals to warm your snowy sorrows. In this slower time we are focusing on the upcoming busy time of the year and how to better improve each and every experience our members receive when visiting the Club. Now that our new G.M. Garry Cramer has joined our team we can continue to grow with his leadership at our helm and build the best Food & Beverage team The Club at ArrowCreek has had to date. 4 nflower seeds Often in the winter months we notice a lot of sunflowe r seed s on the cou rse. There is no c lub policy again st sunflower seeds and we encou rage those who may be using them to curb othe r habits; howe ver we ask that y ou please be respectful of other golfers and DO NOT sp it them out on the greens and tee s.. I don t know about you but we are looking forward to the end of winter and getting back on the golf course. Spring can t come soon enough but for now we ll just have to wait until the snow melts and the courses dry out enough that we can get out there without causing any damage. Each winter the turf grass stops growing and turns dormant. It is during this time that the courses are susceptible to increased damage when open for play. Ball Marks, Divots and Cart Traffic can cause significant damage because the turf does not have an opportunity to heal itself. When are able to open, we ask that you practice a few key courtesies that will help us keep both courses in good condition as we go into spring. Ball Marks Please DO NOT attempt to fix your ball marks when the greens are frozen solid in the morning. The frozen turf can easily be torn from the root structure causing more damage than the initial ball mark. If it has warmed up enough for a ball mark repair tool to penetrate the soil then by all means please fix your ball mark and any others you might see. Cart Traffic Cart restrictions may change day-to-day based on current golf course and weather conditions. Decisions to restrict golf carts to the path only are made to protect the golf courses from damage, not to hinder Member play. Please check in the golf shop for the latest news and respect the policies that are in effect for that day. If carts are allowed on the course, please remember to enter and exit the fairway at the designated stakes and follow all cart signs. During the winter months a Marshall may not be on the golf course to monitor play. As Members playing the course or looking out your back window you have an opportunity to notice any problem areas that need to be addressed. Please contact the golf shop immediately if you notice any violations of club policy or other areas of concern. Sunflower seeds Often in the winter months we notice a lot of sunflower seeds on the course. There is no club policy against sunflower seeds and we encourage those who may be using them to curb other habits; however we ask that you please be respectful of other golfers and DO NOT spit them out on the greens and tees.
