APOLOGIES Des Lochrie, Russ Conway 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF GOLF COMMITTEE MEETING The minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday 12 th January Proposed by: Seconded by: Alan Bates Pat Crane 3. MATTERS ARISING A O B ACTION: Bob Mico to ask Elaine Rockingham to put together a template for each of the golf club sections. They will then provide Elaine with the basic information needed for her report. ACTION: Bob Mico to ask Russ Conway and Elaine Rockingham to put together a template. ACTION: On Going February 2017 November 2016 b) Alan Roberts asked if the Seniors results could be put on the screen in the clubhouse. ACTION: Bob Mico to ask Gerry O Connell. ACTION: On Going January Bob Mico to ask Russ Conway to investigate ACTION: The results are able to be posted on the screen. Alan Bates to check the cost of the equipment needed. Alan Roberts to ask the Seniors Committee if they wish to contribute towards the cost. On Going under progress. January 2017 It was asked if a 17 junior can play a round of golf with an 18 on their own, due to the Child Protection Policy. ACTION: Sally Davis to contact the County Golf Union about juniors and casual golf. Sally has contacted the County Golf Union and they are happy if a letter of consent is

2 2 received from the parents of the juniors. 4. CAPTAIN S REPORT Bob Mico It has been a quiet January and the start of February is not ideal for golf as we appear to have now got a lot of the rain and winds we missed in January. As I said when I sent out the Agenda if you have any matters to raise or questions to ask at the AGM, I would appreciate details at the Meeting so that I can take them to the Board Meeting which is on Monday, 13 th February. On a lighter note, why not join us at the Valentine s Evening on Saturday, 11 th February. I understand that we have a very good lady singer as entertainment. Hope to see you there. As you will know, I would like to invite you all to a Captain s Thank You Curry Night at Wetherspoons on the 23 rd February 7pm for 7.30pm I forgot to put that piece of information in my invitation. My year seemed to start slowly but all of a sudden there are only a few weeks left and this is the only available Thursday before my term ends. My Captain s Banquet is set for the 11 th March and the posters and menu will be going up in the Bar this week. I hope that some of you can make it and I am looking forward to an enjoyable evening (that means keeping the speech short!) with good food and music to round off the night. Tickets are limited so don t delay if you want to attend. For a more relaxed evening, black tie or lounge suits are acceptable. I would like to wish Alan all the best for his Captain s year, welcome Russ as his new Vice Captain Elect, Caroline Tapster as the new Ladies Captain and Lenny Harris as the new Seniors Captain, Best wishes to Sally and Alan and thanks to you all for your work on the Committee over the last year. 5. VICE CAPTAIN S REPORT Alan Bates 6. SENIORS CAPTAIN S REPORT Alan Roberts There have been many late praises from senior members for the Seniors Christmas Lunch and meals for our Winter League Matches. In the Winter league we have won home and away matches v Barton on Sea, won at home to Bramshaw but lost at home to Knighton Heath. Two matches at Came have been fogged off! There are 4 matches left, Came Down home and away (hopefully), Bramshaw (a) and Knighton Heath (h). The formula of eating in fours as you come in and no speeches is very popular, especially at Weymouth where the players order what they want and pay for the meal before playing. The first Seniors Comp is a 3 man Spring Scramble players drawn on Tuesday 21 st March and the first Open Comp is on Tuesday 16 th May. Entries are coming in for this and also the Whisky Scramble (20 th June). Len Harris is proposed as Seniors Captain and Jim Sinclair as Vice-Captain for 2017/18. Team Captains are team 1 John Coward, team 2 Len Harris and team 3 Alan Roberts. It has been a privilege representing the Seniors Section on the committee, my earlier criticisms of the mass booking of swindles did not go down well at committee meetings; however I must emphasise that they were not just my personal views but those of many members. I wish those who are continuing in office all my best wishes.

LADY CAPTAIN S REPORT Sally Davis Since the last meeting in January I have concentrated my time on the club s website which went live on the 31 st January Feedback has been requested so that, if necessary, amendments can be made. For instance, the Greenkeepers Monthly Newsletter. The web team are enlarging Recent News and Social Events so that we can pin the Newsletter to the News. Galleries are still being worked on. All the Financials and Minutes have now been put on. I have gone through some training with Nicola who says the site is easier to use. Nicola is the only person that will update the website and relies on information being passed to her. The most important thing is keeping the website updated and, with time constraints, this can be difficult but every effort must be made to make sure the site is up to date. The website needs to be clean and fresh. I would like to thank Gerry, Elaine and the office for their time in helping me to put the site together. As a committee we have been working on the Roles and Responsibilities of the main roles within the section which will help succession of future positions and this will be finished within the coming weeks. My final fundraising for my year is being held on the Wednesday 15 th February and is a Charity Teams Bridge evening I know nothing about Bridge but I know someone who does! To date we have raised in excess of 2,000 towards the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance which is an amazing result. Most of the club have contributed in one way or another towards my charity and I would like to thank everybody who contributed. I plan to hand over the funds as soon as I can and am arranging a date and time with the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. I have enjoyed my year as Ladies Captain and the time has flown. I want to thank my committee and the ladies for all their help and support during my year and wish all the very best to Caroline Tapster who has been a great Vice Captain and I know will make a brilliant Ladies Captain. 8. CHAIRMAN OF COMPETITIONS REPORT OCTOBER Graham Vile 1. Competitions during Jan/Feb. As always at this time of year entries are influenced by the weather, no more clearly demonstrated than by the Jan & Feb Winter Stableford, in Jan we had 95 competitors and in Feb just 17? We had 25 teams take part in the Burns Team of Three, despite the frozen conditions. However this did raise the question as to whether we should allow competitions to go ahead if we are on temporary greens. This is something I ll be discussing with the Professional prior to next winters competitions. We have a reasonable entry for the Valentine Scramble, 31 teams so far but with spaces still available. The Ward Cup is beginning fill up but again many spaces still available. The Club Knockout Competition Entry Sheets have been posted and members who enter will have any entry fees taken directly off their Gold Card immediately after the closing date. As with last year this will take away the need for Brown Envelopes which will now be a thing of the past. 2. The annual handicap review has been completed and the professional will be informing those who are affected by any changes. 3. BRS Online Tee Booking System. I have configured the timesheet for 2018 and input the majority of Club Competitions. I will add the Ladies and Senior Fixtures as soon as I have them. I hope this will assist those taking early society bookings to avoid clashes with club comps/matches. As we approach the end of this golfing year I have to say that the Tee booking

4 4 system appears to be working well and the majority of feedback I ve received from members during this period has been extremely positive. 4. The Local Rules have been updated and the 15 th hole has been measured by Ian Hulse. John now has this information and has ordered new Cards. The Temporary Local rules have also been updated and placed on the main notice board. 9. CHAIRMAN OF GREEN REPORT Alan Bates 67.5mm rain since last Friday. An old Willow tree to the right of the 5 th bridge had 2 limbs leaning at a precarious angle. These were removed on Monday and the tree made safe. Further work on lowering the hedge in front of the 9 th tee was carried out too. Temporary greens have all been cut with newly sharpened hand mowers. Hedges around the 11 th tee have been pruned back. Thorns and brambles around the 6 th green and 7 th tee area have also been tackled with strimmer s. Painting the old wood shed with creosote continues. Indoor work during periods of rain include machinery servicing and the brew room has been tidied up with a coat of paint. 10. CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE REPORT Pat Crane House Music System The music system (ipod) previously ordered is unfortunately out of stock. A more expensive item is available. (appr 200). The whole audio system needs replacing including microphones. Men s Locker Room Unfortunately the verbal quotes received would seem to be excessive and I would put forward myself to carry out the work at cost. To be started in March. Handrails Still the weather is not suitable to complete the sealing of the joints. Dance Floor A temporary repair has been carried out, pending a refurbishment upstairs and until such times a decision is made to replace the carpet. Buggy Shed Prices for the removal of the central steel pillar and replace it with beams have been placed on hold, until a price for a new roof has been received. On Going.

5 Refurbishment I am currently receiving prices for the refurbishment of the bar and restaurant. Including additional quotes as requested. Refuse The current refuse contract with Suez (Sita) is currently under review and alternative quotes are being sought. What is the position with the Professional waste. Staff Golf Following the meeting with the staff and the signing of their Contracts of Employment the provision of concessionary golf will in future be calculated on a pro rata basis (as per attached schedule. However this concession will be withdrawn for any member of staff who wishes to exercise their membership rights. Members Cards It has now been agreed by the Management Board that staff cards must remain in the black before use as from the 1 st April 2017 and members revert back to 5 in the red. Sally Davis asked if anything is being done on the leak in the Ladies Changing Rooms. Pat Crane said he is monitoring the leak and waiting on the Boards approval of the refurbishment of the Club House JUNIORS REPORT 12. PROFESSIONAL S REPORT Des Lochrie 13. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION 14.
