2 SHOW RULES PLEASE READ CAREFULLY Full Payment due before ring numbers will be issued. All NSF cheques will be charged a $25 fee. SHOWMANSHIP DIVISION: Class 4-7. Jr. may show horse or pony. Pattern to be posted. HORSEMANSHIP DIVISION: Class Juniors may show horse or pony. PATTERNS WILL BE POSTED. Riders to be judged on equitation. WESTERN PLEASURE DIV: Class Judged at walk, jog, lope & reinback. Horses over 5 yrs must show in a shank bit one handed. No twisted wire bits, no ports over 3 1/2, & no shanks longer than 8 1/2 from top to bottom. Emphasis on manners & performance. Class 24 horse must be 5 yrs. of age or under & may be shown in a snaffle bit or bosal. OPEN CLASSES- #3,16, 23,26,27,28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 36, 40, 43 is open to all Junior & Senior riders. WINNER TAKE ALL CLASSES- Class 34 & 35. There are no entry fees for this class. 1 st place winner takes the pot & no ribbons. GYMKHANA CLASSES: Junior & Senior classes: Cash back only no ribbons. Youth & Juniors may ride ponies. No excessive use of crops, whips & over & unders. It is strongly recommended that ALL riders wear a helmet. 18 yrs of age & under MUST WEAR A HELMET! OPEN WESTERN RIDING: Pattern to be posted. Open to Jr. & Sr. Riders, horses/ponies. TRAIL: Pattern to be posted COWBOY TRAIL: Sponsored by Celine s Grooming & Herbert Marine. Pattern to be posted. This class will test you & your horse for confidence, courage, balance & sure footedness. There are 8 obstacles & each is worth 10 points. Rider is free to choose the gaits wanted for each obstacle, as long as the horse does not break the gait for the entire (one) obstacle as points will be deducted. Rider/horse will lose points if a bar/pole/rock is stepped on/falls. If horse refuses/hesitates at any obstacle, rider/horse loses points. Rider falling off horse, brutality to horse, or tack issues causes rider/horse to be disqualified. Three (3) refusals at any one obstacle is immediate disqualification. Points per obstacle: No faults = 7 points 1 fault = 4 points 2 faults = 1 point 3 faults = 0 points Gait/Willingness of horse = 3 points (judge s decision) REINING CLASSES: Patterns to be posted. Open to Jr. & Sr. Riders, horse/pony. Green horses 5 yrs. & under may be shown in a snaffle bit & may ride 2 handed. OPEN BARRELS & POLES : open to all horse & rider Combinations. REGULAR CLASSES : Ribbons to 6 th place. STAKE CLASSES : PRIZE MONEY: 1 st Place- 40%/ 2 nd Place-25%/ 3 rd Place- 20%/ 4 th Place- 10%/ 5 th Place-5% 1 st Place winner will also receive a championship chair! Except Cowboy trail which will have just prize money. 4 SPRINGBROOK STABLES SHOW INFORMATION The show will be held August 21st, 2011 at Spring Brook Stables, home of Maritime Saddle & Tack. This show will be held rain or shine. For more information call Michelle Bourque at Judge s decision is final. 3. The Spring Brook Stables show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry. 4. Entry Fees $7.00 for all regular classes, $15 for Stake Classes. Entry Fees will not be refunded without a physician s or veterinarian s certificate (this refund will be 75% of class fees). Coolers will be presented for the following divisions: Novice Western Performance, Junior Western Performance, Senior Western performance, Junior Gymkhana Champion, & Senior Gymkhana Champion. Horse & Riders must be present for presentations in full show attire or it will be considered a forfeit & will go to the next exhibitor. 5. Horses must be shown by the same exhibitor in all qualifying classes in order for points to count. You do not have to go in all the classes for the championship cooler but they will be counted for the high point award. The judge will break ties for Champion. 6. Show Committee may cancel classes with less than 3 entries. 7. All riders 18 yrs of age & under wear a helmet with an attached harness while on your horse and on the grounds. These helmets must meet the standards of the American Society of Testing Materials and display the SEI seal. The ASTM and British BSI are also acceptable. While mounted, all riders must wear their ring number. Horses are to be ridden in the warm up ring ONLY, no trotting horses in the driveway. 8. Limited overnight stabling is available on the premises. Please call ahead for availability. Room is available for overnight tenting. If stabling in the barn PLEASE make sure to clean your stalls before leaving (stripping is not necessary) & keep your tack area clean & tidy throughout the day! Brooms are available in the barn, do not leave the stall area unswept while showing. If you fail to clean your stall or keep aisle swept you will be charged a $10 fee the following year when your entry is submitted. The barn and tack room is off limits to visitors. Please use the garbage containers provided on the grounds. 13. Anyone who shows any disrespect or misconduct towards horses and or others at the show will be asked to leave the grounds and will lose their entry fees. 14. All riders showing horses at the show must be a NBEA member or show proof of liability insurance. Please include copies with entry. 15. We MUST receive your entry form by August 14th, ANY LATE ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER MIDNIGHT AUG.14th, 2011 will pay a late entry fee of $25.00 per horse! THIS WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED! 16. The announcer s opinions are not necessarily the opinions of the Judges or the Spring Brook Stables show organizers. 17. Class entries will close 2 classes before that class begins. There will be no exceptions. 18. There must be a separate entry form for each horse/rider combination. NO EXCEPTIONS. 19. With all the increases in costs of holding a show we ask that you PLEASE RETURN YOUR SHOW NUMBERS before leaving the premises. THANK-YOU! Last year many of our numbers were not returned, therefore any rider that DOES NOT RETURN THEIR NUMBER this year and registers next year at our show the numbers will be checked and they will be charged a $10.00 fee before they can pick up their show packages! 20. Ages for this competition will be the age of the rider as of Jan.1, No horses are allowed in the warm-up ring from the Gymkhana entries until the Bronze Level Show is complete! 22. Hotel Accomodations: Motel Top Motel is newly renovated and located just up the hill from the show grounds. They are offering a special rate to all competitors at $55 per night! Phone Stalls are rented to those traveling from out of town first & then will be available for local accommodations. Prices per day - Box stall $40. In the afternoon during the Gymkhana classes stalls may become available for part day rental at a fee of $20. Please go to the show office for stall availability. 10. Canteen on site hamburgers, hot dogs, Kurt s Sausages, chili, subs, salads, pop, tea, coffee, snacks, Brother s bakery YUMMY!! 11. It is MANDATORY that all horses have rabies, tetanus, influenza! (Strangles, Rhino and West Nile are optional but strongly suggested). Anyone stabling in the barn must be inoculated for strangles & Rhino, please provide a copy with your entry if stabling on the grounds. You must show proof with a veterinarian's certificate upon arrival at the show. You will be asked to leave if you do not have proof of shots! 12. 8 LIABILITY WAIVER It is hereby recognized that all equestrian sports involve inherent risk and that no helmet or protective equipment can protect against all foreseeable injury. I hereby accept the risk and hold harmless the competition, their officials, organizers, agents, employees, volunteers and their representatives. I acknowledge that the Equestrian Sport and its competitions are a high risk sport and that I am participating at my own risk and in full knowledge of the hazards and potential hazards which are inherent in this sport. I further acknowledge that inherent risks in riding and working around horses, which include bodily injury to both horse and rider which can result from normal use, competition or schooling. In consideration of being allowed to participate in this event, I hereby assume all risk and I hereby release and obsolve the organizing committee, Spring Brook Stables, volunteers and Discipline Affiliates, and their officials, volunteers, Directors, Agents, Representatives and Employees and the owners and occupiers of the land upon which the competition is held, from all responsibility, liability, or claims of any nature and kind which I may have arising from the participation in this activity, including but not limited to bodily injury or death to myself or my horse(s) and damage to property arising from any cause whatever, including the negligence of one or more of the individuals and organizations referred to herein. In the event that participates in the Spring Brook Stables Horse Competition where approved headgear is required for juniors, he/she will wear a properly fitted ASTM or BSI approved helmet. It is understood that juniors not meeting this requirement will not be allowed to compete at these competitions.
