1 FAST PASS OVERVIEW Wake Forest (GER), a stallion prospect, is a G1 Winner in the US that was imported after winning several races in Europe including two G3s. In 2018, he has continued to run fast numbers that will place him competitively in Stakes company, especially outside of New York. He has made three starts this year and was last seen running on June 24th in an Allowance at Belmont where he endured a wide trip yet still ran his fastest Ragozin (8 ¼) in two years. 2 CLIFF NOTES Age is just a Number in 2018: Wake Forest has run three times this year and his speed figures remain consistent. Stakes quality numbers: Beyer: Ragozin: 10 ½ 9 ¾ 8 ¼ Last out wide trip: Drawing the widest post in a 1 3 / 8 mile turf race is a hard obstacle to overcome, and it was even harder for Wake Forest because he could not get to the rail and was instead forced three wide around both turns. He ran 14 feet and 43 feet further than the exact, respectively, and still managed to earn a 92 Beyer and 8 ¼ Rag indicating he is in top form. Vets Clean: A full set of X-Rays and physical inspection was done on June 30th. At the age of 8, Wake Forest has a clean set of x-rays indicating there is nothing to stop him from his continued success. Eight G1s: Wake Forest has run 13 times in the US, eight of which were in G1 races. He has run 3 times in G2/G3 races and has never been off the board in that company. It was only this year that he stepped out of Graded Stakes company for the first time in America and has shown he is ready to win his N3X and then move to Listed and/or Graded Stakes. 3 A STALLION S PEDIGREE Wake Forest is a G1 winner and international Graded Stakes winner that has a pedigree to match. He contains Classic winners from all parts of Europe and America on both top and bottom of his pedigree and is poised to pass that on as a stallion. Wake Forest is by Sir Percy (GB) an undefeated 2 year-old and Classic winner at 3. In fact, Sir Percy s sire, both grandsires, and three of his four great-grandsires were Classic winners. On the bottom side, Wake Forest is out of Wurfspiel, who is by Lomitas (G1 winner in Germany and US). Lomitas first two dams, La Colorada (by Surumu), and La Dorada, were German champions. Wake Forest seems to have inherited much from his German ancestors and that may be something worth noting according to John Berry at the TDN: German horses are now highly sought after around the world, with their reputation for toughness complementing their aura of high-class stamina This triumph was the second international Group 1 victory for a German horse this month: seven days previously the Gestut Fahrhofbred Wake Forest (GER) (Sir Percy GB}) had taken the Man O War S. at Belmont Park in New York. German racing might have its problems domestically, but the current sky-high international reputation of the German Thoroughbred seems likely to remain intact for years to come.
