5 Arabian Horse Association of Utah DESERET I & II Combined Region VII & 8 Qualifiers STARTING TIME FOR AFTERNOON AND EVENING CLASSES WILL BE ANNOUNCED Doughnuts, Coffee, and Hot Chocolate provided by Firefly Equistrian Center FRIDAY April OPEN Training Classes - 8:00 A.M. The OPEN Training Classes are open to any horse/rider combination as well as show or training tack is allowed*. No registration or back numbers required. *ALL horses are welcome, any breed, registered or unregistered, horse or rider does NOT have to be entered in the Deseret Show. All horses must have current Health Papers and negative Coggins report. $10 per entry is to be paid at the gate as the horse enters. Class will be called (gates to be called are listed) and a line up conducted. Saddle Seat Equitation 13 & Under 2018 Deseret I & II Concurrent Horse Show: In response to you input and suggestions the Deseret Show Commette continues to work to meet your requested and needs. This year in response to your request Ranch Pleasure riding has been added to the sechdule. The 2019 Deseret I & II Horse show is sechduled for April 5 7, 2019, this is Friday - Sunday. I We hope this continued modifications will increase participation at the show. If you have any concerns or constructive suggestions please feel free to contact me or a member of the AHAUtah board. Julie Ott Ferrara The 2018 Deseret I & II Horse Shows will be a concurrent horse show, and approved AHA and USEF qualifying for the Region VII and 8 Championships. As a concurrent horse show there are significant advantages. Several of the advantages are as follows: Deseret I & II will be a combined three (3) day show as opposed to a two day Region VII qualifying show followed by a two day Region 8 qualifying show. The concurrent show will run from Friday April 6, 2018 thru Sunday April 8, The show will be a combined show meaning that each class in the show will be simultaneously judged. Jim Lowe will be adjudicating Deseret I, Region VII qualifier, and Cathy Vecsey will be adjudicating Deseret II, Region 8 qualifier. Cathy Vecsey will be calling gates for the even numbered classes while Jim Lowe will be calling gates for the odd numbered classes. In each class, all exhibitors will be judged by both judges and placed separately by each judge. This means that a rider could win the class according to one judge and come in a different place by the second judge With the concurrent show spanning three days the class list has greatly expanded. The show will offer all of your favorite classes along with new and expanded ATR and Select classes and championships. The class fees have decreases and you now only have to pay ONE USEF and ONE AHA fee in lieu of two fees for the back to back show. We hope that this innovation has been and will continue to be beneficial to all exhibitors by overall reducing: cost/fees, lost time from work and school, reduced travel/hotel expenses, and stress on our horses, while adding many new class options and qualifying for two regional shows simultaneously! Class Awards Procedure: After the judges cards have been turned in and verified, exhibitors will be asked to remain in their position in line up while the placings are announced for each show. Ribbons will be presented to exhibitors while in line up. The class winner(s) will receive their award upon leaving the arena RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 2. AHA MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: EACH COMPETITOR (THIS INCLUDES AT LEAST ONE RECORDED OWNER AND ALL TRAINERS, DRIVERS, RIDERS, HALTER HANDLERS, COACHES AND THE PERSON(S) SIGNING THE ENTRY BLANK) IN AN ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZED ARABIAN DIVISION, AT THE TIME OF ENTRY INTO A COMPETITION, MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF A VALID AHA MEMBERSHIP/COMPETITION CARD, JOIN AHA OR PAY AN AHA SINGLE EVENT MEMBERSHIP FEE PER COMPETITOR. (BOD 5/12) 3 USEF RULES: Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book, will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. See USEF Rule Book for Arabian Horse rules, class descriptions and judging specifications. Any changes in the USEF rules will automatically become part of this Prize List. The Show Committee reserves the right to make such changes in procedure, personnel, rules and regulations as deemed by them to be in the best interest of the show 4 ADMISSION TO ARENA: No person will be permitted to enter the arena except the judges, their assistants, the exhibitors in the class. ATD Classes, must, under USEF rules, possess current Amateur Card issued by USEF for active Federation members only, or must have lodged with the Show Secretary one hour prior to such class, an application for amateur certification on an application provided by USEF. 6 ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES: Stalls available at 8AM on Thursday, April 5, and all horses and equipment must be removed by 10:00 PM on Sunday, April 8. Anyone wishing to arrive earlier than Thursday or stay later than Sunday, must make special arrangements directly with the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Pay AHAU directly. Early/late departure will be paid through AHAU. 7 CALL FOR CLASSES: The two-minute rule will be STRICTLY ENFORCED. If time is needed for a tack change, the gate must be notified. All tack changes must be made at the entrance gate to the show arena. This rule will be strictly enforced! Barn announcements are a courtesy to the exhibitors. 8 CAMPERS: You may park your RV at the show grounds, but RV hook-ups (electrical and water) are not available. 9. CASHING CHECKS: Personal checks will not be cashed in the Show Office. 10 CLOSING OF ENTRIES: Entries close March 15, DO NOT MAIL ENTRIES AFTER MARCH 15, 2018, bring your entries to the show. Post entries will be accepted 11 CONDUCT: Exhibitors are hereby notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judge/officials on the part of the owner, trainer, rider or any other attendant, shall be grounds to disqualify the horse, and all entry fees and other charges and prize money won shall be forfeited. The Show Committee also bears the responsibility to aid the judges in avoiding contact with exhibitors or their agents before and during the show. 12 CRUELTY TO OR THE ABUSE OF A HORSE: By any person at a recognized show is forbidden. Excessive use of a whip on any horse in a stall, runway, schooling area, show ring, or elsewhere on the show grounds, before or during a show, by any person, constitutes a violation and renders the offender subject to penalty. 13 ENTRIES: ONE OWNER PER ENTRY BLANK ONLY!! Every exhibitor, rider, driver, handler and trainer or his/her agent(s) must sign the entry blank. IN THE CASE OF AN OWNER, TARINER, RIDER, DRIVER, OR HANDLER UNDER AGE 18, HIS/HER PARENT OR GUARDIAN, OR IF NOT AVAILABLE, THE TRAINER, MUST SIGN AN ENTRY BLANK ON THE MINOR S BEHALF. PARENT NEED NOT BE MEMBERS OF AHA OR USEF TO SIGN FOR A MINOR. Entries must include full addresses, AHA, USEF member-ship numbers, etc. Also, for all Junior exhibitors, the Parent/Guardian section on the entry form MUST be signed. All fees, plus photocopies of Current year AHA Competition/USEF membership cards. And horse Papers must accompany entries. If you are not in possession of your Current AHA Competition membership card, or have a copy of same, you will be required to pay a Single Event membership. The submitting of an entry blank to the Show Secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the provisions herein set forth in this Prize List 14 HEALTH PAPERS: The State of Utah requires a negative Coggins test on all horses and 30 day health papers on all out of state horses, and as of 2/1/2004 your veterinarian must also obtain an entrance permit number for your horse by calling the Bureau of Animal Health. 15 AHA Single Event: All non-members, including Jr s, owning horses entered In these shows, must pay a $35 fee to AHA per show. Any owner/trainer/driver/rider/halter handler must hold a current AHA Competition Level Membership or pay the Single Event Membership of $35 per person, per show. Membership Affidavits will not be accepted. (Res. 7-04) 15 INDEMNITY AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE: Arabian Horse Association of Utah, and Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Event Center will not be responsible for any loss, personal injury or damage to horses exhibited or for any kind or nature that may be lost or destroyed or in any way damaged. 17 JUNIOR EXHIBITORS: One who has not, as of December 1st reached his/her 19th birthday. 18. PA SYSTEM: Due to possible unforeseen problems with any mechanical device, the PA system & class calls over that system are considered a courtesy. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to have his/her horse at the gate at the prescribed time. While every effort will be made to maintain a working PA system, no protest will be upheld nor will any section be changed on basis of a PA breakdown. 19 HORSES ENTERED IN AMATEUR OWNER AND JUNIOR OWNER CLASSES must be registered in the name of the competitor or a member of the competitor s family as defined by USEF GR 133 (Horses registered in a farm/ranch/syndicate/partnership/ corporation name may be shown in Amateur Owner classes provided the family is the sole owner of the farm or entity as defined by USEF GR 133. The sale of a horse does not eliminate this registration requirement (Contracts of Sale or Bill of Sale will not be accepted.) 20 REGISTRATION PAPERS: PUREBRED ARABIANS Horses shown in this division must have been issued a certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Registry of America. Inc., Arabian Horse Association, and/or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry or, if under one year of age, be eligible for registry, and registration applied for (Exception Art 1699V1) and must be entered under their full registered name (only weanlings that have had registration applied for may show without registration papers.) A copy of the registration papers showing proof of ownership must be submitted with entry form at the time of making entry, competition management is responsible for notifying exhibitors of this requirement. HALF ARABIANS/ANGLO ARABIAN Horses shown in this section must have been issued a

18 certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Association in the Half-Arabian or the Anglo-Arabian Registry, or have been issued an Arabian Horse Association (Canadian Part-bred Arabian Register) CPAR PERMIT or if under one year of age, be eligible for registry and registration applied for and must be entered under their full registered name. 21 REFUNDS: All fees for entries cancelled before March 25, 2018 will be refunded. Refunds of class entry fees only will be made after this date upon presentation of a Veterinarians Certificate to the Show Secretary before the end of the respective show. Once a horse is vetted out of a class it will be considered vetted out of the entire show. 22. SHOW OFFICE HOURS Variations in these schedules will be announced. Thurs April 5 Office Opens 5 pm to 7 pm Sat April 7 8:00 am to end of last class Fri April 6 8:00 am to end of last class Sun April 8 8:00 am to 1 hour after last class 23 SHOW OFFICIALS: In the event that an official fails to attend these shows or perform his/her duties, due to an illness, injury or other circumstance, the show committee reserves the right to substitute another official for the one designated in accordance with USEF rules. 24 SHOW TABS: SUBMIT PAYMENT WITH ENTRIES! Any exhibitor wishing to start a tab at the Deseret shows will be required to leave a signed check, made payable to AHAU. Understand that these checks will be completed by the Show Secretary for the amount of the tab, unless the exhibitor closes out the account prior to the close of the shows. FOR YOUR OWN CONVENIENCE, we suggest that you settle your account at the earliest possible time to avoid a delay at the end of the show. There will be a $35 charge per check for all checks returned by the bank. In addition, interest of 1 ½% per month will be assessed all outstanding accounts. Returned checks not paid within two weeks after being notified will be turned over to USEF and AHA. The show checking accounts will be closed thirty (30) days after the show. No prize money checks will be mailed. 25 STALLIONS: May be shown by ladies & Jr. exhibitors except in Walk/Trot and Lead line. HA/AA colts/stallions may compete in weanling & yearling classes for geldings; however, HA/AA colts/stallions, 2yrs & older are excluded from all halter classes. 26 STALLS: GENERAL RULES: NO STALLS RESERVED WITHOUT PAYMENT. Stalls are mandatory for all horses, weanling or older. All 10 x 10 stalls have doors and are under cover. Aisles are to be kept clear at all times and are not to be blocked will stall curtains. No changes in stabling permitted without Barn Manager s permission. Shavings will be available for purchase. No nails or staples in stalls. STATUS AND DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES MAIDEN: A Maiden class is open to horses who have not won any first place ribbons at a Point Show in the particular division in which they are entered. A Maiden entry is such from the closing date of entries. NOVICE: A Novice class is open to horses/ride who have not won the three first place ribbons at a Point Show in the particular division in which they are entered. A Novice entry is such from the closing date of entries. LIMIT: A Limit class is open to horses who not won six first place ribbons at a Point Show in the particular division in which they are entered. A Limit entry is such from the closing date of entries. SELECT RIDER: A select rider class is open to amateur riders who have not won a Regional Top 5 or better or a National Top 10 or better in the division the rider is showing in Please refer to the AHA Handbook for additional requirements and information. 30 MOTORIZED VEHICLES - In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The parents(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. 31. EQUITATION Arabian and Half Arabian Rule XVI, chapter XXI, Article refer to current AHA Handbook AHA MEDAL CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Open to Juniors who have not reached their 18th birthday prior to December 1. Winner of each class will receive a silver medal. USEF Rule XXII, Chapter III, art An AHA Medal class must have minimum of three competitors in order to have an AHA medal awarded. For Medal class with fewer than three, AHA Medal points will be earned. These classes will be governed by USAE rules, Arabian division for Equitation and USEF rules for the USEF Equitation Division. 32 Youth Showmanship 18 & under - Rule XVI, chapter XXIII. May be shown in English or Western attire. Judge shall specify whether to enter at a walk or trot. Exhibitors to follow directions of the judge. Judged 60 percent on showmanship, 40 percent on presentation (condition, grooming, tack and neatness of attire). 33. LEAD LINE 2-7 years: See AHA Handbook for rules governing the conduct of Leadline classes at AHA recognized shows. Safety is utmost importance. Saddle must fit rider, leaders must be at least 14 years old, Stallions are prohibited. (AHA Article 1728 The Lead Line Class exhibitors shall be at least two years of age and have not reached their 7th birthday (USEF/EC rules) 34. SHARPS Sharps containers will be placed in all barns. All sharps shall be placed in this marked containers and not disposed of otherwise. 35. Accidents Involving Competitors Return to Completion (GR ) In the event of a fall/accident where the competitor is apparently unconscious or concussed, he/she is precluded from competing until evaluated by qualified medical personnel as defined in GR If the competitor refuses to be evaluated, he is disqualified from the competition. 36. 24 AHA ENTRY AGREEMENT I have read the rules concerning competitions as printed in the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Handbook / Directory and Competition Prize List and agree to be bound by and subject to those Rules. AHA ASSUMPTION OF RISK, RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION This document waives very important legal rights. Read it carefully before signing. In consideration for AHA permitting me to participate in this Competition, and by signing the entry blank, I agree as follows: I AGREE that I choose to participate voluntarily in this Competition, as a rider, driver, handler, lessee, owner, agent, coach, trainer, junior exhibitor, or as a parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor. I AM FULLY AWARE AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HORSE SPORTS AND PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPETITION INVOLVE SERIOUS RISK OF HARM INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, RISKS OF ACCIDENT, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, INCLUDING DEATH, BROKEN BONES, HEAD INJURIES, TRAUMA, PAIN, AND SUFFERING, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. I ASSUME ALL RISKS OF HARM TO ME, MY HORSE OR MY PROPERTY. I AGREE to indemnify and hold harmless (that is pay all losses, damages, attorney s fees and costs of) the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, penalties, actions, losses, costs, damages, injuries, liabilities and obligations (including attorney s fees) of whatsoever kind and nature, which may be asserted against or incurred by any of them as a result of (1) my participation in the Competition or (2) any act, failure to act, or neglect (a) by me, my agents, employees, riders, handlers, trainers, coaches, drivers, contractors or invitees, or (b) by any animal owned or exhibited by me or in my custody or control. I AGREE and represent that I am qualified and eligible to enter and/or participate in the Competition, and every horse I am entering is qualified and eligible as entered. I AGREE to accept AS FINAL any decision of AHA, the Show Commission or Show Officials concerning my qualification or the qualification of my horse to enter the Competition or any results of the Competition, except to the extent that the Rules of AHA, the Competition, CEF or USA Equestrian permit a protest or hearing of such decisions. Should a hearing be requested, I agree to accept AS FINAL the decision of the particular hearing body. I agree to release, hold harmless and not to sue AHA, the Competition Sponsor, their officers, directors, employees, volunteers or members concerning any decision of AHA, the Competition, its Show Commission, Show Officials or any hearing body that relates to my qualifications or my horse(s) qualifications to enter the Competition or any results of the Competition. I AGREE that AHA has the sole right to control, sell, supervise or give away (or assign to others the right to do so) the exclusive rights to broadcast, televise, reproduce, transmit and disseminate all or part of this event, and I agree that AHA may use or assign, in any way AHA sees fit, photographs, films, videos, audios, cablecasts, or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the Competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the Competition or AHA. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way which implies endorsement of any company, product, product category or service. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. By signing below as a parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor, I consent to the child s participation and agree to all of the above provisions, and further agree to assume all of the obligations of this AHA Assumption of Risk, Release and Indemnification personally and on behalf of the child. This AHA Assumption of Risk, Release and Indemnification is governed by the Laws of the State of Colorado and is intended to be interpreted as broadly as possible. I agree that exclusive jurisdiction and venue (place) for any legal action against AHA, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers or agents shall be in the local district courts or the federal court of the State of Colorado. If any part of this agreement is determined to be unenforceable, all other parts shall remain effect. Federation entry agreement By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the Federation ) and the local rules of the Deseret I & II Horse Show. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cable - casts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of Federation rules are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any action instituted against the Federation must be filed in New York State. I am fully aware and acknowledge that horse sports and the Competition involve inherent dangerous risks of accident, loss, and serious bodily injury including broken bones, head injuries, trauma, pain, suffering, or death. ( Harm ). I AGREE to hold harmless and release the Federation and the Competition from all claims for money damages or otherwise for any Harm to me or my horse and for any Harm of any nature caused by me or my horse to others, even if the Harm arises or results, directly or indirectly, from the negligence of the Federation or the Competition. I AGREE to expressly assume all risks of Harm to me or my horse, including Harm resulting from the negligence of the Federation or the Competition. I AGREE to indemnify (that is, to pay any losses, damages, or costs incurred by) the Federation and the Competition and to hold them harmless with respect to claims for Harm to me or my horse, and for claims made by others for any Harm caused by me or my horse while at the Competition. I have read the Federation Rules about protective equipment, including GR801 and, if applicable, EV114, and I understand that I am entitled to wear protective equipment without penalty, and I acknowledge that the Federation strongly encourages me to do so while WARNING that no protective equipment can guard against all injuries. If I am a parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor, I consent to the child s participation and AGREE to all of the above provisions and AGREE to assume all of the obligations of this Release on the child s behalf I represent that I have the requisite training, coaching and abilities to safely compete in this competition. I AGREE that if I am injured at this competition, the medical personnel treating my injuries may provide information on my injury and treatment to the Federation on the official USEF accident/injury report form.
