BE100U18 REGIONAl PROGRAMME ANd kbis NATIONAl CHAMPIONSHIPS This is a dedicated regional programme of competition held at BE100 level which now has the added benefit of an annual Championship at Weston Park each autumn. The programme also provides a stepping stone up to Pony Trials/Pony Squad or the ONu18 Regional Programme. WHO CAN JOIN THE BE100 UNdER 18 PROGRAMME? The BE100u18 Programme is open to all eligible members who have their 12th to 18th birthday in the current year and are capable and qualified to compete at BE100 level; the qualifiers are open to Grade 3 & 4 horses and ponies. U18 Regional Co-ordinators and U18 coaches are available at each event and organise regional courses, camps and course walks; find your local contact point on page six. kbis BE100U18 CHAMPIONSHIPS To take part you need to compete in a BE100u18 class; the top two combinations (from that region) not already qualified, achieving a clear round on the cross country will qualify for the BE100u18 National Championships. MEMBERSHIP Riders need to be full BE members to compete in the Championships at Weston Park but can take part in the qualifying events on a BE day Pass Membership. Eight qualified riders from each of BE s U18 regions will compete as a team with the four best scores counting at the completion of the competition towards the Regional Team final score. 15

KBIS Open Novice U18 Regional Programme and National Championships Our Open Novice under 18 (BE ONu18) Programme is designed to provide riders with competitive experience within their age group and provide a stepping stone between the Pony Club and British squads. The KBIS BE ONu18 Championships are hosted as a team competition each October by Weston Park as part of the annual British Eventing Festival of Youth. The Championships are run at CCI1* level over three days at Weston Park every autumn. Who can take part in the BE ONu18 classes? Both Members and Non-members of British Eventing in the current year of their 12th to 18th birthday competing at Open Novice level are eligible to join the BE ONu18 programme but please note you need to be a full member to compete at the Championships. Where can I compete? Find the dates for your local KBIS ONu18 classes and qualifiers on our events calendar webpage How can I qualify for the Championships? Riders need to compete in a minimum of two ONu18 classes in their own region with clear cross country rounds in the current season, plus be qualified for CCI1* (as per the Members Handbook) in order to be considered for selection to represent the region at the Championships by the region s under 18 Regional Coordinator. Championships are run as a CCI1* under FEI rules. How can I get involved in the BEONu18 programme? The first step is to complete the online registration form on If you live on the border of two regions you can opt for the Region in which you compete most frequently. Riders in the year of their 13th birthday are not eligible for the KBIS ONu18 Championships as this is run as a CCI1* and under FEI rules a rider must be in their 14th year to compete in a CCI1*. Horses/Ponies can be any grade but must not have completed an Advanced, CIC3*/ CCI3*/CCI4* in the current year and must be at least 6 years old. 16

THE CHARlES OWEN BRITISH PONY PROGRAMME ANd BRITISH PONY TEAM The Britain Pony programme is both a competition and training programme designed to produce a team that will represent Great Britain at the European Championships as well as to coach and develop riders for Pony teams in the future. We have a great track record at European Championships with the recent highlight being double European gold at Arezzo in Italy in PONY CHAMPIONSHIPS ANd THREE day EVENTS In addition to competing for a place on the British Pony team at the annual FEI European Championships, eligible pony riders can also aim for the annual British Pony Championships at Brand Hall in June as well as the end of season Pony Three day Event at Weston Park in October. WHERE CAN I COMPETE? Find the dates for your local Pony Trial classes and qualifiers on our events calendar webpage WHO CAN TAkE PART IN THE PONY PROGRAMME Each year the Pony European Championships are held for riders between the year of their 12th and 16th Birthday riding ponies between 142cm and 148cm (14hh 14.2hh). 22 The Hows Racesafe Junior Programme and British Junior Team The Junior Programme is designed to train, identify and produce a squad to represent Great Britain at the Junior European Championships. This programme has helped many successful riders on their path to senior team success including Tina Cook, William Fox-Pitt and Laura Collett. Like the U18 programme at BE100 and BE U18 level, training is delivered by dedicated U18 Regional Coaches who you can locate earlier on in this booklet (page three). Who can take part in the Junior Programme The British Junior Programme is open to riders in their 14th to 18th year riding horses who have registered their interest to be selected for Britain s Junior squad and who are qualified to compete at BE Intermediate level. Ideally riders have already competed in at least one CCI1* or higher, or intend to achieve such CCI qualification in the spring of the year you are hoping to be selected. Where can I compete? The Junior team selectors work closely with the U18 Regional Coaches to identify potential combinations for the team that are competing at BE ONu18 level as well as formal trials at selected venues and open competitions at other venues. These are outlined on the website under Junior Championships and Three Day Events In addition to competing for a place on the British Junior team at the annual FEI European Championships, eligible riders can also aim for the annual British Junior Championships at Brand Hall in June as well as the end of season CCIJ1* at Weston Park in October. Full information about selection trials and registration information can be found on 22

23

The Young Rider Programme and British Young Rider Team Britain s Young Riders (YR) also have an incredible record of team medals with a recent highlight being team silver in tough weather conditions at the 2013 Young Rider Europeans in Jardy. The main aim of BE s YR Programme is to select the team and individuals to represent Great Britain with the aim of winning team and individual medals at annual FEI Young Rider European Championships. The Young Rider Selectors are seeking talented YRs for the future, and to help and encourage them through to the top level, in order to widen the choice of candidates available eventually for selection for the Senior team. The purpose of the Programme is to produce medal winners, but it is also about education and having fun. There is great camaraderie within the Programme and this assists the learning curve that riders go through. Who can take part in the YR Programme The programme for Young Riders welcomes anyone in their 19th to 21st year who, as a combination of horse and rider, has attained the minimum qualification of a completion of a CCI*, CIC*, or an Intermediate one day. Young Rider Championships and Three Day Events In addition to competing for a place on the British YR team at the annual FEI European Championships, eligible riders can also aim for the annual British YR Championships which will be held at Houghton Hall near Kings Lynn in Norfolk in 2014 for the first time. Full information about selection trials and U21 rankings as well as registration documents can be found on 24
