2 General Informa(on These Championships are open to athletes 8 years of age or older on 31 December The organisers reserve the right to restrict the number of entries, to amalgamate classes with insufficient numbers and adjust the (metable on the day of the compe((on. Cancella'ons, Withdrawals & Refunds By entering this compe((on you have agreed to the condi(ons of our withdrawal policy: If Pentathlon Ireland cannot supply any phase of the compe((on then each entrant, of the relevant phase, will receive a refund for the cancelled phase. No refund is possible for withdrawal for any reason, once the closing date has passed. Compe((on entries are not transferable. An Entry is only valid if: Pentathlon Ireland membership is fully paid up. It is the responsibility of the athlete to ensure membership has been paid. Non-members cannot compete. All requested informa(on is completed in official entry form and legible. Payment is made in full prior to compe((on. Entry form and full payment arrives before the closing date Sunday 9 th April Rules: This compe((on will be run in accordance with the 2017 Pentathlon Ireland & UIPM rules for Modern Pentathlon.

Should an athlete move age group, they may not win in the age group they have le`. Events: The Modern Triathlon compe((on (swim, shot & run) is open to Youth E, D and C. The Modern Tetrathlon compe((on (fence, swim, shot & run) is open to Youth C to Masters. The Modern Pentathlon compe((on (ride, fence, swim, shot & run) is open to Youth C to Masters. Par(cipants can only enter one compe((on. The number of athletes compe(ng in the riding event may be limited due to horse availability. Athletes not able to ride will only be charged for the tetrathlon fee only. Pentathlon Ireland Compe''ons Appeals Policy: A protest or appeal must be submiced to an event director, or in absence of their loca(on to the scoring table, in person. All protests or appeals should ideally be submiced prior to the start of the next phase or victory ceremony. However, no protests or appeals may be submiced 2 hours a`er the victory ceremony. Protests and appeals must be handled without interrup(on and without disturbing the next phase or victory ceremony. The person receiving the protest or appeal will record the details in wri(ng together with the name and contact details of the protester or appealer and confirm the details with the protester/appealer.

4 Event Details Summary FENCING: Epée fencing in a pool unique. One hit in one minute. If neither fencer has scored a hit within the (me limit a double defeat will be recorded. 70% of bouts won scores 250 points. Points per hit above or below 70% depends on the number in the fencing pool Age groups/gender may be amalgamated. Small pools may fight a two or three hit compe((on. Limited range of fencing gear will be available but compe(tors are advised to source own gear; Each Compe(tor should have two working Epées & bodywires. All compe(tors must be correctly dressed and protected in fencing kit at the following minimum standard: Fencing Jacket - minimum 350N (CE level 1). Fencing Breeches - minimum 350N (CE Level 1). Protec(ve Underplastron - 800N (CE Level 2). Mask - Bib 350N (CE Level 1). Female compe(tors must wear a chest protector made from a rigid material or metal. The Fencing Director and Fencing Referee have the authority to exclude and/or eliminate any compe(tor unable or unwilling to change into clothing that complies with the rules. SWIM: Freestyle race against the clock. Heats will be seeded according to (me submiced on entry forms. 10 x 25m pool 50m 45secs =250 points (± 1 points per 1/2 sec) 100m 1min 20secs = 250 points (± 1 points per 1/2 sec) Masters (men) 100m 1min 18secs = 250 points (± 1 points per 1/2 sec) Masters (women) 100m 1min 30secs = 250 points (± 1 points per 1/2 sec) 200m 2min 30secs = 250 points (± 1 points per 1/2 sec) RIDING: A Riding Cer(ficate appropriate to the Class entered must be lodged at the Compe((ons Office before the closing date. The height and number of fences will be in accordance with the rules. A clear round within the op(mum (me earns 300 pentathlon points. All penalty points are deducted from this amount. All compe(tors must wear protec(ve headgear with the chinstrap firmly fastened at all (mes while mounted - including during the warming up period. The Riding hat must conform to one of the following interna(onal Standards: PAS 015:1998, EN1384: both of these need to have the BSI Kite mark. ASTM F a - plus the SEI Global label. SNELL E2001 plus the E2001 Snell label. Wearing a correctly fiong back protector is strongly recommended but not compulsory. The Riding Director reserves the right to ask any rider to dismount.

5 RUN (Youth D & Youth E only): 800m (me race against the clock on a mixed surface: 95% Grass, 5% concrete. Spikes can be worn at athlete s discre(on. Op(mum (me of 3m 00secs earns 250 points (± 1 points per sec) SHOOT (Youth D & Youth E): Youth D & Youth E compe(tors will shoot with a 4.5mm (.177 ) single shot, compressed air pistol, at a standing target from a distance of 7 meters. All shoo(ng will be with laser-pistols. Shoo(ng is on command and all compe(tors have 40 seconds in which to fire each shot. Youth E and D may use a two-handed grip when firing. Ten shots in total. Op(mum target score of 86 points = 250 points ± 3 points for each target point lost or gained. COMBINED EVENT: Senior, Junior, Youth A, Youth B, Youth C & Master compe(tors will shoot with a 4.5mm (.177 ) single shot, compressed air pistol, at a standing target from a distance of 10 meters. 7 Venues & Direc(ons The Na(onal Modern Pentathlon Centre, Na(onal Horse Sport Arena and the Na(onal Aqua(cs Centre are all located on the Na(onal Sports Campus at Abbotstown, Dublin 15. By car from the M50. Take the exit at junc(on 6 on the M50 for Blanchardstown. Keep going straight on the Navan Road towards Blanchardstown, take the exit to the le` for Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and stay in the right hand lane. Take a right at the top of the slip road and cross over the bridge. Take the first exit off the small roundabout at the other side of the bridge. Con(nue up Snugborough Road and take a right at the second set of traffic lights into the Na(onal Aqua(c Centre (NAC). From the car park of the NAC go through the security barrier at the round-about and head towards the Na(onal Indoor Arena and at the 2nd barrier take a right and follow signs for Na(onal Modern Pentathlon Centre (NPC) & Riding Arena.

9 PENTATHLON PIZZA PARTY 2017 We are holding a Pizza Party after the 2017 Nationals prior to the prize giving ceremony at the National Pentathlon Centre. You and your family are welcome to join us and your follow pentathletes for some slices of tasty pizza and side orders to reward yourself after a day of competition. Tickets will be available on the day of the Championships.
