2 Welcome to the 18 th Annual North American Nationals I d like to take the chance to welcome each of you to beautiful Harrisburg, Pennsylvania! This has been a record-breaking year for the show and the turnout of exhibitors, judges, and volunteers has exceeded my wildest expectations. For the next three days we will all have the privilege of being able to enjoy each others amazing horses and the incredible competition that will be present in each and every class. This show has been the results of months of hard work. Each and every one of our volunteers is critical to it s success and deserves our most heartfelt gratitude. Many of these individuals have sacrificed showing in favorite divisions or showing altogether in order to make this an incredible show. If you have the opportunity to thank them, please do so. Without them there would be no show. Our judges also deserve a hearty thank you here. We have an incredible group this year who are going to work very hard over the next three days. I was very fortunate to have such a wonderful judging pool to draw from. Most all of you have had some interaction with Jim West as well and there is no denying that he is one of the most important cogs in the NAN machine. I am extremely grateful that he agreed to take the position of Registrar again this year. His firm and experienced hand was the only thing that really kept the registration process from falling apart. The local showing communities are also responsible for making this show the huge success it has been. We had a massive outpouring of new shows last fall after the location was announced and all of us owe a great deal of thanks to the show holders, judges, and showers who helped make those events happen so that we could have the huge entry numbers here at NAN. Without the local shows and showing community, this show would be a great deal less impressive. Of course we can t forget the shows scheduled before the announcement, those who have been held for years and the showers and judges who supported them. All of the shows held around the country each year are the driving force that ensures this show will happen each year. To all of you, I hope that you enjoy the show...win, lose, or draw. Just making it this far is a huge feat and you all deserve congratulations and thanks for your contributions to the hobby and the show. This person will be a non-voting BOD member and will be required to host a fundraising event quarterly, working towards a BOD mandated monetary goal for the year. This position will be for two years, starting in with the initial term to expire at NAN 2015, term thereafter to be 2 years. The BOD will have final approval over all events and will provide brainstorming (including a list of options already developed), sounding board and other means of support as deemed necessary on an event by event basis. If desired by the winning candidate, a BOD member can be appointed in an official mentoring capacity. The coordinator may select a staff of one helper, pending BOD approval. The monetary goal for the current month NAN 2014 time period is $ 10,000. This is a paid position, with the opportunity for results based bonuses, to be paid at the end of each 12 month fundraising cycle.
