3 Thank you for supporting the First Annual Library Luncheon & Fashion Show! The Hagerman Valley Library Foundation, Inc. and the Hagerman Library Board wish to thank the greater Hagerman Valley Community and the many businesses and individuals who made such generous contributions for the venue site, the raffle and auction Items. Our special thanks go out to 1000 Springs Resort, who provided the venue location and to Chico s of Twin Falls for setting up and running the well-received fashion show, using our beautiful ladies to model the stunning array of clothing. We also share heartfelt thanks to Billingsley Creek Lodge & River Tours, Clear Lake Country Club, the Camas Courier, Coates Catering and to everyone who gave so many hours of time and effort to make the First Annual Luncheon/Fashion Show possible. As you may know, the City of Hagerman is purchasing the former Hagerman Sporting Goods Store located at 411 S. State St. (US Rt. 30) for the much needed library. The funds raised by the luncheon and other fund raising activities will be used to assist in the renovation, operation, and programs at the new library, which will benefit the entire greater Hagerman Valley Community. Again, THANK YOU for your generous support. We look forward to seeing you at the new library! Be sure to stop by our table at the Hagerman Car Show Sept. 15 and Ritter Island Sept and check out our gorgeous quilt, raffle tickets are only $1! 4 From the Desk of Hagerman Mayor Pete Weir The public is always welcome to City Council meetings, and is encouraged to attend. The meetings are held at Hagerman City Hall at 7 p.m. Dress is casual, please no alcohol or firearms. Topics cover budget, street maintenance and repair, the wastewater project, water consumption, effluent flow, equipment purchases, city park and city buildings maintenance to name a few. Everyone, please contact City Hall regarding building permits, easements and the placement of auxiliary buildings, storage sheds, carports and bully barns on your property when you start your project. Property lines and easements must be followed to code. The City Code Book is available for viewing during City Hall hours. Copies are also available upon request. The City will will try to help answer your questions. Resources include the Gooding County Building Inspector, the Gooding County assessor and the Hagerman Planning and Zoning Commission. Animal control will be extending into the night time hours. The city has received several complaints regarding dogs-at-large and dogs defecating in their non-owner yards. When walking your dogs in the City Park, they must be on a leash and city code states the owner is responsible to pick up after the dog when it defecates. If you are not cleaning up after your pet, you will be cited. Also, about animals but another topic, rumors have been heard that the city has been disposing of cats by trapping. This is not true. Kill traps are unacceptable. Poison is not acceptable. Shooting is illegal in the city limits. The City is seeking remedies for a large, diseased population of feral cats. If you handle any of these animals, be attired in proper gloves and clothing. The City is in contact with several organizations who spay, neuter, and release the feral cats. Several options are currently in consideration. Our City has a NEW LIBRARY!!! The new library is now located in the ex-sportsman's Merchant building. Volunteers are currently moving the books, computers, shelving, chairs and tables from the small building to the larger building. Thank you to all of the volunteers: the Hagerman Library Board members, the City Guys, councilman and all other volunteers for all of your hard work. The Library will re-open after Labor Day. The Hagerman Library Summer Reading Program, held Fridays at the gazebo during June and August was a big success. Many thanks to our librarian Geri Omohundro, parents and volunteers and all the kids. STEM projects, purchased with a grant to the Hagerman Library were the main focus. There was also food, games and books. City Hall will be closed on Labor Day, September 3rd, SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE 5th - City Council: 7p, City Hall 18th - Hagerman P&Z: 7p, City Hall 19th - City Council: 7p, City Hall River Rock Road and Park Place will be chip sealed within the next 60 days.
