KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Want to be a Festival Sponsor or Vendor? We will mail / a sponsorship or vendor package for your consideration. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE Planning for 2018 continues to evolve. A week or two in the spring and summer has been reserved for filming a new movie for Hagerman Fossil Beds. The company working on the movie is Orange Frame, they've been out to visit Hagerman and love it. Filming, edits, animations, and lots of behind the scenes work means the new film won't be ready until late spring of 2019 but we're working on it! The film's script hasn't been drafted yet, but it should include interviews with our park paleontologist as well as others who are experts on our fossils. Work is also continuing on the Minidoka film, that one will be filled with interviews of the people who were interred there should also see some work on a permanent visitor contact station at Minidoka (don't forget that the temporary visitor center in the blue, "Farm in a Day" house is open Saturdays and Sundays weather permitting). Also work at the Hagerman Fossil Beds maintenance area may get started in 2018 for a new paleontology lab, we're assembling the planning documents needed right now. Intern Erryn will join us in February to help us learn more about what you want to see at your national parks and to let you know how you can get more involved. We hope to hire some spring and summer workers, USAjobs is the website for applications for jobs wearing the green and grey, other hiring Diane Garcia, Chief of Education & Visitor Services we'll tell you about (Youth Corps, Internships) Hagerman Fossil Beds National ument when and if it happens. On Facebook follow PO Box 570, Hagerman ID HagermanFossilBedsNPS and MInidokaNation(208) diane_garcia@nps.gov alhistoricsite for the most recent updates. (208) Frontage Rd S, Wendell right off Freeway From the Desk of Hagerman Mayor Pete Weir JANUARY SCHEDULE Our Fabulous Thrift Store HAPPY NEW YEAR! 3rd - City Council: 7 p, City Hall Welcome to 2018 everyone. 16th - Hagerman P&Z: 7p, City Hall 17th - City Council: 7p, City Hall Hagerman High School seniors are currently working on their senior projects as they complete their final year of school. Here is an important notice regarding one of the projects, from the project leader, Jenny Sandoval - - ATTENTION!! Recently a recycling bin for plastic has been placed out in front of Chappel's Market. This bin is a part of a student's senior project at Hagerman High School. The bin was graciously donated by the high school welding program. Please support the community! The bin will be there until after the new year. Please bring in any recyclable plastic you may have in your home, instead of throwing it away. We as a community could help lower the amount of plastic being thrown away to support the environment. Thank you for your support! Time to RENEW your dog's tags for The city tag is inexpensive; $5.00 for a spayed female. $10.00 for an unspayed female. $5.00 for a male. A proof of current rabies is also required at the time of the tag purchase. The funds pay for dog food and the kennel maintenance only. The dog tag revenue is budgeted only for these items and cannot be used for other city expenses. Dogs are to be kept leashed or fenced, dogs-at-large are a safety hazard in many ways. Dogs of every shape and size have been seen wandering Highway 30. They stop traffic, scare pedestrians and are a danger to the semi drivers, bicyclists and children. Your dog and a large truck going nose to nose will not end well for your pet. Dogs-at-large can, and will be, detained. If they have a city tag all effort will be made to return the dog to the owner. The dog's picture will be posted on the City of Hagerman Public Works Facebook page. If the dog doesn't have a tag, it will be transported to the shelter in Twin Falls. After 3 years of land search, environmental testing, grants, bonds, fines, land purchase and annexing the Hagerman Wastewater Project is proceeding well. Thank you Hagerman for your support for this very important project. Upon the completion of the project Hagerman will no longer need to discharge into the river. Hagerman will now have the ability to expand and grow with this new infrastructure in place. Also thank you to the Hagerman City Council, Mayor Weir, the city staff, Superintendent Hulme, JUB's Mark Holtzen, Region IV Development, the Idaho Dept. of Commerce, U.S.D.A, Dept. of Environmental Quality, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corp. of Engineers.
