It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be sure that his/her horse is at the gate at the prescribed time. Every effort will be made to maintain a working PA System to carry class calls, however, no protest will be upheld, nor will any class be changed on the basis of PA malfunction alone.
11) Classes will be called with advance notice before each preceding class enters the ring. Participants and horses must report to the gate within three minutes of the gate being opened. For a tack change, seven minutes will be allowed from the time the preceding class has left the ring. Please advise the In- Gate Manager in advance of the preceding class if a tack change is required. Full rules for this competition may be found on the Foundation website - Below is an outline of some of the basic requirements, only: Horses may be shown in any suitable halter with a throatlatch. Spanish tack is not a requisite. Handlers are to be dressed neatly and cleanly (no blue jeans or denim, t-shirts or tennis shoes). Spanish attire for the handler is not a requirement, but it is encouraged. One handler may handle more than one horse; the stand-in handler accepting the horse in the ring must also be neatly and cleanly dressed (no blue jeans or denim, t-shirts or tennis shoes.) Tailers are permitted; there is to be no snapping of a whip held by a tailer. Mares may be shown with suckling at their side; sucklings may be shown with the dam at their side. Horses three years of age and older, except for cobras, will be required to canter in the ring. Stallions four years of age and older that fail to complete the Functionality Test will lose 25% of their morphology score. A snaffle bit is obligatory. If you are using single reins, then snaffle bit only. For double reins, normal bits and chains are allowed along with a mandatory snaffle bit. Please refer to the rules for full tack requirements. No whips allowed in the class except for those in 4 year old Functionality. NO CALLERS ALLOWED IN THE FUNCTIONALITY CLASSES. Logos are allowed on saddle pads. PRESENTATION PATTERN The horses will enter the ring at the walk. They will line up shoulder-to-shoulder, wait for the ring steward to beckon, then walk to the judge. They will walk to the rail and walk back to the judge. They will then trot to the rail, (canter several circles if age group requires) and trot back to the judge, stand and be shown. They will trot away from the judge and take their position in the end of the string of horses in the class. In addition to the class placement a best movement winner will be selected in each section, except the stallion Sections (8, 10 & 12) and the Sections 13 and 14 for cobras. That winner is eligible to compete in the Best Movement Class, according to age.
Cobras of Mares must be comprised of only mares 4 years of age or older. AWARD INFORMATION - These are the minimum prizes to be awarded: Morphology: 1st Place: trophy/ribbon/medal 2nd & 3rd Place: ribbon/medal 4th & 5th Place: ribbon Awards for best movements in all sections except for stallions of section 8, 10 and 12, and sections 13 and 14 for cobras of mares and admission to competition for Champion/Reserve selection. Awards for highest functionality score within the stallion sections and admission to compete in Champion/Reserve selection. Mare/Gelding Functionality: 1st Place: trophy/ribbon; 2nd-5th Place: ribbon Inclusion or deletion of other awards and Honorary Mentions are at the discretion of the Show Committee. Best Breeder/Mejor Criador: awarded to the breeding ranch which meets the following criteria: present horses with own brand, born and bred at own breeding ranch and inscribed under his/her own Breeder Code. The breeder must enter the following: A cobra of three mares, Section 13 A stallion in one of Sections 8, 10 or 12 Entries in at least five other Sections, in addition to the above, or Entries in at least four other Sections, in addition to the ones indicated in line 2 above, if the Morphology and Functionality Competition does not provide Sections 1 & 2. The prize will be awarded to the breeder/breeding ranch which reaches the highest score after adding up the total score for all entries, except for Section 14, and dividing that score by the total number of entries. The cobra entry counts as one entry. The following points should be added to the total score before averaging: 2 points for each Champion Stallion or Mare 1 point for the Champions of Best Movements (Young and Adult), and the Functionality Champion Best Exhibiting Breeder will be awarded to the breeding ranch which meets the same criteria as Best Breeder, with the exception of the following:
All entries shall be inscribed under the owner s breeder code, but horses of more than one brand (horses bred by more than one breeder) must be entered. Section 14 (cobra of five mares) shall count in the averaged score. Breeder Award notations (11.2 and 11.3): Once inscribed by the admissions panel at the competition grounds, any removal or non-participation of an entry, for these two breeder awards, shall count as zero for that entry and will be included in the average score, regardless of entry removal cause. The same rule applies to any portion of the cobra. Breeders competing for either of the breeder awards (11.2 or 11.3), must have a breeder s code associated with each entry s ownership. An association membership number will not suffice. In the case of registries that do not use breeder codes, to prove the owner is also the breeder, their name must appear on that registry s certificate as the breeder of record. Champion Stallion will be awarded to the stallion which by comparison, comes closest to the ideal breed prototype, chosen from amongst the first place winners of Sections 8, 10, and 12. Reserve Champion Stallion will be awarded to the stallion which comes closest to the ideal breed prototype, selected from the two remaining in the ring after the Champion is awarded, plus the stallion which was second in the section from which the Champion Stallion was chosen; the Reserve Champion will be chosen from these three stallions. FOUNDATION AWARD - Grand Champion Stallion will be awarded to the stallion registered with the P.R.E. Mundial Registry, selected by the Judge from the stallion Sections 8, 10, 12, if that stallion is present in the ring. Champion Mare will be awarded to the mare which comes closest to the ideal breed prototype, chosen from amongst the first place winners of Sections 7, 9, and 11. Reserve Champion Mare will be awarded to the mare which comes closest to the ideal breed prototype, selected from the two remaining in the ring after the Champion is awarded, plus the mare which was second in the section from which the Champion Mare was chosen; the Reserve Champion Mare will be chosen from these three mares. FOUNDATION AWARD - Grand Champion Mare will be awarded to the mare registered with the P.R.E. Mundial Registry selected by the Judge from Sections 7, 9 & 11, if that mare is present in the ring. In the event that horses entitled to the awards of Champion/ Reserve Stallion, Champion/Reserve Mare, fail to appear, the award will be given to the next place in the respective classification. Foundation Awards are not subject to the Official Spanish Section rules. Functionality Champion and Reserve Champion: will be awarded to those horses which have the highest score and second highest score in the functionality test from the stallions sections 8, 10 and 12. The order of entry to the arena will be assigned by the show office, to accommodate any riders riding more than one horse. Otherwise, it shall be by order of the back number of their morphology section.
Best Movements Awards: A. Young Horse: This award will be decided by a comparison of those young horses (sections 1, 2, 3, and 4 of one and two year-olds) which achieved the highest average on their scorecard for walk and trot in their respective sections. These winners compete with each other to select and award the Young Champion of Best Movements. B. Adult Horse: This award will be decided by a comparison of those adult horses (sections 5, 6, 7, 9 and 11, of horses 3 years and older) which achieved the highest average on their scorecards for walk, trot and canter in their respective sections. These winners compete with each other to select and award the Adult Champion of Best Movements. C.) Absolute Champion of Movements is a competition between the Young Horse Best Movements Champion and the Adult Horse Best Movements Champion. The young horse will be shown at the walk and trot. The adult horse will be shown at the walk, trot and canter. The winner of this class shall be at the sole discretion of the judge(s) and the winner shall be awarded the prize of Absolute Champion of Movements. In these movement comparison classes, entrants may be asked to do the same exercise as their initial class, only twice. The judge may also ask that the exercise be shown in both directions. ADDITIONAL FOUNDATION AWARDS: A) Champion and Reserve Colt (Young Horse Male) B) Champion and Reserve Filly (Young Horse Female) Horses eligible to compete for these junior championships are the winners and second place winners of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (yearling colts & fillies, two year old colts & fillies and three year old colts & fillies), from class numbers 301, 302, 303, 309, 310 and 311. The same criteria as the above morphology championship classes for mares and stallions are applied to the Champion Colt and Filly championships. APPEALS Any decisions taken by the Organizing Committee may be appealed before the Appeals Panel. The Panel of Judges, acting within their capacity as judges, shall only be subject to those rules and regulations pertaining to conflicts of interest and faults, indicated herein.
