7 ROCKY MOUNTAIN 3 GUN The April match of the 2004 series was held on Saturday the 17th. The weather was actually PERFECT, very warm, and sunny and calm, then breezy, then WINDY for cleanup! Twenty-four competitors attempted four stages of fire: a 30 round rifle stage at the 200 yard range testing all those unsupported field positions we should practice; a pistol stage with close paper through ports (lots of no-shoot targets) and the Texas Star and plates to test how badly we mash the trigger; a rifle/ pistol stage with rifle targets with lots of hard cover areas and pistol through the ports in the shack where shooters had to transition from rifle to pistol (remember: value diversity); and a shotgun stage in a minefield of clay birds that you did not want to step on, and it was only 25 rounds (20 clay birds, 5 IPSC targets for slugs only). Congratulations to the class winners: Open Division: Modified Division: Limited Division: Jimmy Holdsworth Eric Miller Blane West For all the match results and the RM3G rules, please visit our website at The next match in the yearly series will be May 15 at 9am at the Aurora Gun Club. Dust off your modern bottom feeders (magazine-fed semi-auto rifles and pistols and heck, even pump-action waterfowl shotguns work for us) and come out for run-and gun fun. See you there!

11 ROCKY MOUNTAIN MEN BLACK POWDER RIFLE What do Ron Abbott, Dwight and Derek Bratton. Rick Geist, Tom Rock, LeRoy Arntson, Les Lokken, Dave Allen, Don Philips, Mike Miller, John Metzner, Willie Conradson, Bob Howard and Bill Hensley have in common? They were the fourteen shooters who had a fun time shooting the April Fool Targets a tour April Shoot. There were ten targets all shot at 25 yards. The targets were somewhat of a departure from the regular round bull type of targets. We awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place for each target, but made it so no one could win all the targets. That resulted in all of the shooters winning something. That was the plan and it worked. To give all the winners for each target would take forever so I won't try to do that. However, based on the scores for all ten targets the top seven shooters fell in place as follows. Ron 339xxxx Willie 283xxx Dave 338x Derek 263x Rick 332x Les 226 Dwight 309 Because of the scoring on some of the targets it was possible to hit the scoring areas and score a zero or even minus points. Seven shooters recorded a score of zero, nada, nothing, zip, on at least one target. Four shooters managed to have a minus score on a target. Dwight had a high score of 8 on the Bumble Bee Target. So you can see how much fun the shooters had. The best score of the day was a 50xxx by Willie on the Bow Tie Target. Our next shoot is on May 2nd and it is the Club Championship. Remember, it is a 40 shot match and we shoot bench, cross sticks and offhand. See you then. -Al Main MILITARY RIFLE CLASS Name Rifle Score X s Pete Benoit AR cal Jess Adams Swede Mod 6.5x Martin Visnak M1 Garand Hank Baroudi Sprgfld There was much snow and rain but we all had a great time anyway. Duane Sherman shot some low scores but he was using a fling lock. Most people would be lucky to hit one bird. See ya in May. -Deak Flinchpaugh SPORTING CLAY Come out and try our Sporting Clay course.
