Robert Henley-September 2015 USPSA Matches In September three USPSA matches were held at the Jim Jones Shooting Range. On September 5 an all-classifier match was held. It consisted of 6 stages that allowed a shooter to become classified at USPSA in just one match. We had 45 shooters which includes a few who shot for classifications in 2 different divisions. Michael Pannone came in first and second overall. Danny D Angelo was third. On September 12 we held an USPSA Steel Challenge match. This match was made up of 4 stages and shooters could use either rimfire pistols or rifles and center fire pistols or center fire rifles chambered in the pistol calibers. We had 17 shooters. Some were new shooters and one shooter had never shot a Steel Challenge before but he was first overall in the match. Bo Cox was our overall leader followed by Avery Clontz, and Tim Thomas was third. On September 19 we held a standard USPSA match that consisted of 4 very fun stages. We had 13 shooters with Bo Cox our overall leader, Pete Undlin second, and Richard Hobson third overall. Many of our shooters for the matches came from out of town from as far away as Tucson, the Phoenix area, and the Show Low area. We are seeing more women participants, juniors, and shooters new to competition shooting. It seems pretty universal when a new shooter to our range or shooters who drive some distance to participate in our matches express that they enjoy our matches because we have a safe, fun, and friendly environment and the range itself is very good with fun and challenging stages for each match. In October the match time schedule changes with setup for each match starting at 8:30 pm, registration at 9 am and match start at 10 am. See the calendar for dates for the October matches. They occur on the first 3 Saturdays of the month. If you think you might be interested in competing in any of the USPSA matches, contact the discipline match directors listed in the calendar portion of the newsletter.
