Currently BAN operates out of a 70 year old building that was once a funeral home. Even with the outdated facility, BAN has managed to serve over 4,000 people a year with emergency assistance services such as food, financial assistance, medical care and clothing. BAN is a nonprofit organization and is celebrating its 30 th year of serving our community. Plans are in the works for a new 10,000 square-foot building to be completed by the end of 2014 just north of their current location. So, this year, due to storage constraints at BAN, we are asking club members to donate canned goods/and or monetary contributions at our December meeting. The club will be matching whatever monies we collect and will be given to BAN to help with the Christmas baskets. If you already have stockings saved back for our usual Christmas project, you are welcome to still donate them, however, please fill them with goodies & attach a label with age & gender of the recipient. Treasure News Page 4 NEWSLETTER ARTICLE CONTEST FOR During the year 2013 I am going to have a contest for those that send me the most articles that can be used in the monthly newsletter. The articles need to be on some aspect of metal detecting or treasure hunting such as tips on how to do something, tips on technique, new equipment you have tried, personal experience, finds that you think are pretty cool, comments about something relating to the subject. I will keep tabs on who sent what and at the end of the year a prize will be given to the top three donors that participated. The prizes will be: First Place a one ounce Silver Eagle. Second Place a silver half. Third Place a silver quarter. The deadline for November will be October 30th. If you don t make the deadline go ahead and issue it and I will put it in next month. Bobby Crocker Cook-Off Bobby Crocker Cook-Off - Oct. 20th. (No Entry Fee Required ) Hey Guys...We know how much you like to compete, so here s your chance! Bring your best home-made desserts & have a chance to win some really nice prizes! We re looking forward to tasting all those delicious entries! Chairpersons: Rachel Hayworth & Amy Cleveland Fall Club Hunt Our Fall Club Hunt will be held Sunday October 20th at the Creek County Fairgrounds. We will be using the hunt fees plus the money raised from the club s silent auction to purchase silver for the Main Hunt. Also, the board has allocated $300 to be used for prizes for the main hunt. There will also be a free kid s hunt. Please arrive early enough to help bury coins for the main & the kid s hunts. We will be eating lunch before the hunts, so please bring meats, salads & vegetables. (the more the better according to Terry!) The men will be providing desserts as entrants in the Bobby Crocker Cook-off. Please see hunt flyer (p.18) for lunch & hunt times. Entries must be paid by the end of our general meeting on Oct 12th. Please bring something that is metal detecting related or not so that the members can make a silent bid on these items. The proceeds from these bids will help buy more coins for our club member hunt on October 20th. I am sure that you would enjoy more coins to hunt for

6 6 I.T.T.H.C. Treasure News Page 6 It is time again to elect Club Officers and to fill club positions. Anyone is welcome to run for any club office or fill any position. It doesn t matter if you ve been in the club for twenty years or twenty days. You don t need any experience and there will be plenty of people to help you out. We cannot have a club if we can t fill most of these offices. It s as simple as that. Most of these positions only require about 3 hours of your time a month and that time is spent at the club and board meetings. I will attempt to list the club offices, positions, their descriptions, and the approximate commitment time. Nominations will be taken at the November Club Meeting and we will have the election at the Christmas Dinner. President Runs the monthly Club and Board 3 hours a month Meetings and helps run club activities. Vice President Takes over the President s duties in his 3 hours a month or hers absence and attends the Board Meetings and also is the Program Chairman. Secretary Keeps notes at Club and Board Meetings. 3 to 4 hours a month Sends notes to the Newsletter Editor. Treasurer Manages all of the Club s financial affairs 4 to 6 hours a month Including writing checks and taking in Money for hunts and dues. Board Members Represents club members at the Board 2 hours a month Meetings. Votes on Club business and helps plan club activities, meetings and events. Club Raffle Buys the coins, takes in the donated prizes, 2 hours a month sells tickets, calls the ticket numbers, and takes notes on the winners and donations. Finds of the month Takes and records the monthly entries, helps 2 hours a month judge, announce, and passes out the prizes. Find of the Month Judges Helps judge the monthly entries. (A tough job 2 hours a month sometimes). Newsletter Editor Collects info, assembles, gets the newsletter 8 hours a month printed and mailed out. Manages the club s photos and lists.

Treasure News Page 7 Report of September Water Outing to Sheppard Point The club s last water outing of the season was to Sheppard Point Recreation Area at Heyburn Lake on September 22 nd was a good one. A bright sunny day, the high temperature was around the 81 mark, and nice cool water in the swimming area. We had shade and a fairly calm breeze all day The club supplied hamburgers, hot links, hot dogs, buns, condiments, & chips. Roger Eaton again handled the cooking. Great job Roger and Thank You! Thanks again to John Hamilton for taking and storing the grill & tables and bringing them to water outings. There were 36 members standing in line to chow down on burgers, hot links, hot dogs, and food brought by club members. Thanks to all those bringing the outstanding side dishes and desserts. If you went away hungry at this outing, again, it was your own fault. After the big feed scattered as evenly as possible were 191 tokens in a 40 yards X 60 yards designated area. There were 6 tokens for member donated prizes, 167 tokens for Silver Mercury dimes, 12 tokens for Silver Quarters, & 6 tokens for Silver Halves. When the start signal was given there were 17 water hunters frothing the water. After 1 hour+ of hunting, all but 5 dime tokens were not recovered. There were several tokens from the Three Forks hunt earlier in the month, a fair number of coins, a few jewelry items. As you can see, no matter how good you think you cover an area there is always something left. Thanks to all those bringing extra water detectors and scoops. John Freeman found a maverick 18K Gold Wedding Band ring during the planted hunt. It was an old ring with lots of wear and it had been in the water for a good long time. Daniel Parker found two earring studs. Member donated prizes: A head lamp donated by Len Eames won by Bill Rouse. A Garrett goodie pouch donated by Ken Fanning won by Ken Fanning. $5.00 donated by John Hamilton won by Chuck Marcum. Headphones donated by Chuck Marcum won by Lee Wierzchowski. A $5.00 Walmart Gift Card donated by Bill Rouse won by James Marcum. A Clock donated by Lee Wierzchowski won by Bill Rouse. Some of the higher totals found were: Bill Rouse 14 Silver Mercury Dimes, 2 Silver Quarters, & 2 prize tokens. Lee Wierzchowski 15 Silver Mercury Dimes, 2 Silver Quarters, & 1 prize token. Wally Dick 15 Silver Mercury Dimes & 2 Silver Quarters. John (JJ) Freeman 15 Silver Mercury Dimes & 2 Silver Quarters. Chuck Marcum 12 Silver Mercury Dimes, 2 Silver Quarters, & 1 prize token. Again, one of the main reasons for this type of outing, besides the food of course, is to give non-water hunting members a chance to try their hand at it. Also, the fun and fellowship of being with people that enjoy the same hobby. Again, if you missed this outing, you missed a great one. Don t miss the next one!

11 11 I.T.T.H.C. Treasure News Page 11 Kelly B. Todd Sept 21,2014 Gary Young reports that this was the 8th year for doing this hunt. The weather was super and with lots of kids. We had a good turnout from all three clubs. There were several metal detectors and some were even dropped off for us to use. Overall, this years hunt was a BIG success as have been the ones in the past. Gary mentioned that the kids had a great time as did the adults that were there to help. Gary and Cathy want to thank all of you that came out and helped and as always if you could not come you missed the fun but can do so next year.
