Below is what the Amazon Associate link looks like and where it is located on the ITTHC Homepage: TICK INFO by Cody Reese I sent this for the newsletter last year, but have heard of another way to remove ticks just recently. So I thought I would send this again, as they seem to be everywhere this year. I personally stick with the standard tweezers making sure to get the head before pulling the blood sucker out. This is the most recommended way to remove a tick and keep it from infecting you. But I had to look up some home remedies that where listed and here is a list that I found people actually use to remove ticks 1. Light a match, blow it out and stick the hot end on the butt of the tick. It will back out. 2. Put dishwashing soap on a cotton ball and cover the tick. In about a minute, check the cotton ball and the tick should have backed out and be stuck to the ball. 3. Put insect spray on a Q-tip and cover the tick. In a minute or two the tick will back out. 4. There is a product called Tic-Off that you spray on the tick and it supposed to fall right off. This product claims it paralyzes the tick keep it from infecting you. 5. Dandruff shampoo such as pert plus, head and shoulders on a cotton ball will cause the tick to back out. 6. Absolutely smoother the tick in butter and it suffocate the tick, causing it to just fall off. 7. Cover the tick in finger nail polish and it eventually comes out on its own. 8. Cover the whole tick in Vaseline and it will die and fall off very quickly 9. Use a small wood dowel and gorilla glue. Put a dab of glue on the dowel and then place it against the tick. Wait a few minutes and then pull the smothered tick out with the glue. 10. New Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on it s own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. Please keep in mind any remedies such as Vaseline, hot matches, nail polish remover, etc- could actually make things worse. Anything that might cause 'shock' to the tick could result in the tick purging the contents of its body into your bloodstream, infecting you with any number of diseases. If you start to see any sign of a bulls eye around the area of the tick bite GO SEE A DOCTOR!

Treasure News Page 7 7 June Water Outing - Sheppard Point Recreation Area at Heyburn Lake Report of Sheppard Point Outing on June 24 th The club outing to Sheppard Point Recreation Area at Heyburn Lake on Sunday, June 24 th was an outstanding one. Weather was great with the high temperature was around the 72 mark with a nice cool breeze out of the East, a few intermittant sprinkles of rain, and a refreshing cool lake water temperature. A little rain? Hey, water outings are all about getting wet aren t they? Right? About as perfect a day as you could get at the end of June in Oklahoma. The club supplied hamburgers, hot links, hot dogs, buns, condiments, & chips. Roger Eaton handled the cooking, which is now a Traditional job. Good job Roger and Thank You! And Thanks to Christy Wicks for transporting the club s grill and bringing the tables. There were 38 members standing in line to chow down on burgers, hot dogs, & hot links supplied by the club and the outstanding food assortment brought by club members. There were 42 hamburgers, 24 hot dogs, & 12 hot links consumed, Thanks to all those bringing the great side dishes and desserts. If you went away hungry at this outing, again it was your own fault. After the big feed there were scattered as evenly as possible 204 tokens in a 40 yards X 70 yards designated area. There were 10 tokens for member donated prizes, and 170 tokens for Silver Mercury dimes, 16 tokens for Silver quarters, and 8 tokens for Silver half dollars. When the start signal was given there were 21 water hunters frothing the water. After 1 hour+ of hunting all but 1 Silver Quarter token & 2 Silver Half tokens newly scattered tokens were found & 1 old tokens. Tokens were painted Wheat Cents, painted aluminum pulltabs, painted & numbered.54 Gallagher Minie bullets, painted dug up Indian Cents, painted dug up Half Cent and painted Shield Nickels & V-Nickel. And once again, one of the main reasons for this type of outing, besides the food of course, is also, the fun and fellowship of being with people that enjoy the same hobby. And to give non-water hunting members a chance to try their hand at it. There are always extra water detectors & scoops available for use, so if you have not tried water hunting come on out & try it, you might find you like it.
