The club is a member of the Federation of Metal Detector and Archeological Clubs Inc. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of metal detecting as a hobby. No brand or model of metal detector is endorsed by the club. Membership is open to the public with the only requirement being that all members follow the Treasure Hunters Code of Ethics. Club dues are $25.00 per family yearly. Any comments or stories that you would like to contribute to your newsletter are always welcome. MEETINGS: First Tuesday of each month. TIME : 7:15 P.M PLACE: Wagoner Community Building at the corner of Jefferson and Cherokee streets in Wagoner Oklahoma. NEXT MEETING: May 7, 2002 BOARD MEETING: The 3rd Thursday of every month at Martin s Restaurant on Hwy. 16 in Okay Ok. at 7:00 P.M CLUB OFFICERS: PRESIDENT: Nancy Coffey VICE PRESIDENT: Kevin Kastler SECRETARY: Tony Morris TREASURER: Carol Cooper BOARD MEMBERS: Jack Cooper Francis Tracy Gene Coffey Paul Mattes Ray Yerby Tina Yerby Mary Tracy Chuck Marcum Red Cawvey Vicki Lang Eddie Tamplin
2 The Secretary s Report General Meeting - April 2nd, 2002 of the Three Forks Treasure Hunters Club The meeting began with a discussion about the National Hunt. President Nancy Coffey announced that there will be 13 detectors in the main hunt. Also that we have 210 entries so far. Lee Linke said we need help setting up fields at 9:00am on Saturday. And to please bring prizes to donate for the main hunt. Also that they will need volunteers to help with the kids hunt. There were four visitors at the meeting. Brent Edmond had three of them with him, they were Mike Ledbetter, Chris Moreau and Leonard. Another visitor was Carl Van Hooser. Welcome to you all. Jack Cooper took the minutes In the absence of the Secretary And Carol Cooper gave the Treasurers Report with 9, in the National Hunt, in the general fund and 62 in the prize donations. Next we had the prize donations with the 50/50 pot going to Gary Harper. And then the Finds of the Month was given. After the break Pres. Nancy said to be thinking about places for outings later on this spring and summer. Next was the silver drawing, display, donation, and attendance drawings. Last, Pres. Nancy told us that 44 families or people had paid there dues for the year. And asked everyone to remember to bring donations for the night and kids hunts and the cache. Closed Minutes took by Jack Cooper for the Secretary. In this issue. I have included a lot of National Hunt info. I have tried to recognize everyone that has helped support our Hunt by either running a Hunt, burying, organizing, selling, or donating prizes. All of these are equally important and has to be done to have a successful Hunt. I remembered 32 club members which I mentioned. That is more than half of our membership. A really good turnout, but as Lee has been mentioning we need some newer members learning some of these jobs also. Don t hesitate to jump in there and participate, you ll have a lot of help and a lot of fun. Lee Linke wrote a message to everyone which I have inserted. Lee has been our Hunt Chairman for 4 years now. He has been loosing his help and if he can t find people to take their place, I doubt that he ll be doing it again. I d like to thank Tina Yerby again for taking pictures for me. She took 140 real good pictures of which I put as many as I could into this newsletter. I will be giving her and Lee a CD with all of them on it. I will also donate one to the prize donations at the next meeting. Our State Legislature has upheld the law that Raffles are illegal. So we will not have a Monthly Raffle but I can t see anything wrong with sharing prize donations. The prize donations were a little slim last month probably because of all of the Hunt Donations we had to come up with. Don t forget to bring some prize donations to share this meeting. When you see Rochelle while you are giving her your donations be sure and congratulate her on her upcoming graduation and thank her for the job she is doing for our club. I will be sending out our newest Three Forks list soon, just as I have promised. If I don t have your address or if it has changed please let me know. is the fastest and most efficient way to communicate with club members when a last minute outing, event, or a special announcement comes up. I ll bet Chris had a good day after winning these 2 detectors!

5 A MESSAGE FROM HUNT CHAIRPERSON LEE LINKE National Hunt April 7th, 2002 was different then any past year I've encountered as hunt chairman. Dry weather is by far better, but it could have been alot worst. On the whole I'd have to say the hunt was another success. Like the weather there's always different problems that come up and all we can do is deal with it, back up and punt. Despite the weather entry numbers came close,to the numbers of years past. Again, this year I'd like to personally Thank all that helped!! Your help made the success! Special thanks to the die hard volunteers that stayed to the end and helped clean up mess left behind. I was glad to see a few new face's out there along with those that are always there helping. One of those new face's belonged to Gary Young who ran the Kids Hunt, If you weren't there it looked like Gary had robbed a toy store. Carol and Jack Cooper, which aren't new faces, gave Nancy a much deserved break on badges and registration. Mike Plunkett "incorporated" furnished our concessions on Sunday again, which he uses to pay for Missionary trips. Thank you all that volunteered to run or help with hunts. Audra Tamplin was under the weather this year, which Eddie tells me she's feeling better. There was quite a group that took turns on selling tickets for silver rounds, gold coins and the Whites Spectrum XLT donated by Treasure Electronics, Randy Smith, which is the only place that Three Forks makes anything off The National Hunt. Speaking of donations Terry Humphries TME donated another Fisher 1236 X-2 plus setting up on Sunday. These two dealers help a great deal with our hunt. I'd like to thank all that made donations, some didn't get to come or even belong to our club! THANK YOU!! Which bring me to my yearly soap box speech. Each year around the time of our hunt my thoughts go back to Bill Huntley. Few people realize the dedication Bill gave to Three Forks and The National Hunt! Bill ran our hunts with the help of his wife Della Ruth for years,we just enjoyed the hunts. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do like wise. Kenneth is getting ready to move to Colorado, and I most likely will lose my trusty side kick Christopher next year. I made a couple mistakes this year that I like not to happen again. What we need is someone to take over the prize boards, prizes and take care of donations Saturday and Sunday so hopefully these problems are kept to a minimal. Three Forks has allot of great people who dedicate time to the club, and our hobby. But more members need to get involved, even if you don't hunt in the national hunt but enjoy club outings, winning find of the month, silver raffles, prizes, or club hunts, that means YOU. These things are in part funded by what YOUR CLUB clears on the drawings at the National Hunt. If the National Hunt does not continue then theses things may not either! Three Forks members please step up and help our club continue! Again thank you all that helped!! Lee
