3 Mandy Parkin Your Guide & Your Yoga Instructor Mandy Parkin is a Yoga instructor with 18 years teaching experience. She studied with Ganga White and Tracey Rich at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, California, USA., among others. Currently she teaches 15 yoga classes a week, on average, both public and private. Mandy has been involved in the field of holistic health for over 20 years, founding a holistic centre (Lighthouse Whole Life Centre) in Nairobi s Westlands suburb and producing the only Kenyan health magazine to date (Health Quarterly). She conceived, consulted, and created a database, for the largest health store in East Africa and has trained the staff. Mandy trains laypeople as well, more particularly at executive retreats, in stress management and meditation. Working closely for a number of years with a high-profile M.D. at Nairobi Hospital, Mandy has given lifestyle consultations to over 200 patients. She was a co-founder of the Nairobi Waldorf School, is still very active in fundraising and raising awareness about children s developmental needs - and most recently launching a community project called Understanding Childhood. Mandy has spent countless hours in the Kenyan bush, many of them together with her closest friend, Barbara Tyack, who filmed 5 full-length wildlife documentaries for Survival Anglia - the former UK equivalent of the Discovery channel. Mandy teaches her own style of Yoga based on Vinyasa Flow.

8 Destination Descriptions: Delta Dunes Camp Way off the beaten track, following the meander of the Tana River down to its mouth in the Indian Ocean, we pass through the villages of the Orma and Pokomo peoples. The last part of our journey we make by motorboat. Nestled amongst the sand dunes and doum palms, are 6 open fronted castaway style rooms, with all the ultimate comforts. Alfresco dining and lounging with 360 degree views around. From the camp we are able to explore the Delta wetlands which are diverse as they are unique and fragile, with amazing birdlife and large numbers of hippos & crocodiles. Enjoy 35kms of uninterrupted deserted beaches and miles of rippling, rolling sand dunes, all to yourself. Creek fishing, kayaking and sand yachting are some of the activities on offer.

You will immediately notice the difference between a vehicle tour and one conducted on foot. Senses that may have been a little dulled in a car will strain to perceive indications of the wild game that surrounds you. Your perception of the bush will change until you feel an intimate relationship with the environment through which you trek. Make sure to check with your health insurer that any injury sustained or medications required are covered by your health insurance. Similarly, you are required to arrange adequate insurance in the unforeseen event of any postponement or cancellation of your safari. Liability: Although every possible care is taken to safe guard you and your property, we accept no liability for any accidents, injuries or illness to clients incurred from any safari, or for any loss or damage to clients property during safari. You will be required, prior to departure to sign a legal document to this affect. Payment: We require a deposit of 30% of the final quotation to confirm the safari. This must be received before any bookings can be made. The balance is payable 60 days prior to safari starting date. Cancellation policy: If notice of cancellation is received at least 120 days prior to safari starting date, the full deposit less $1,000 per person handling fee is refunded. If such notice is received between 60 and 120 days prior to safari starting date, the full deposit is forfeited. The full safari cost is forfeited if such notice is received less than 30 days prior to safari starting date. CANCELLATION INSURANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Visitors to Kenya are advised to have at least two blank pages available in their passport on arrival. Failure to meet this requirement could mean that entry will be

13 refused. Passport must be valid at least six months beyond the intended period of stay in East Africa. Luggage limit on in-country flights is 33 lbs maximum per person, incl. camera equipment and/or carry-ons. The airlines request that you use soft-sided luggage such as duffel bags without wheels. RE: MALARIA We recommend Malarone as the best malaria suppressant available in the United States and we recommend that you consult with your doctor for the appropriate doses. We highly recommend that you only take anti-malaria medicine in the evening after a full meal. Although Malarone is said to have less side effects than previous malaria medicines, people are still known to experience sun sensitivity, nausea and fever, especially after the first few doses of Malarone. Your tents are fully netted to prevent insects from entering. Your safari crew will spray the tents while you are at your evening meals and it is important that you keep your tents zipped after sundown. A homeopathic insect repellent will be supplied for you to use in the evenings when you go to the campfire for drinks and dinner, however, you might also want to bring your own. It s wise (but not required) to have a Yellow Fever Int. Health Card, obtainable from a doctor.
