Soke Sensei will also be accompanied by Higuchi Sensei, 7th Dan, Kyoshi & Okinawan Weapons expert. It is like receiving music tuition from Mozart, a soccer lesson from Pelé, or a science lesson from Einstein. Soke Sensei's Australian Tour Xmas Family Day Japan Training Scholarship - NOW OPEN! During Soke s visit students are encouraged to attend as many lessons as possible, there are no attendance restrictions. Our regular class schedule will be in place, plus we will also hold some additional class over the weekend. As a we get a little closer we ll share the specific details for sessions. All members are encouraged to get to as many classes as possible.

There were a lot of first time competitors with people stepping out of their comfort zone, which is always great to see. A special mention to tournament champions from the Sunshine Coast: Patrick Edwards - Junior Champion Klaudia Caston - Senior Champion A big thank you to Adam Higgins Sensei and the crew from Gold Coast Karate & Kobudo Centre for hosting the event. Also a big thank you to all of our senior members who and parents who volunteered their time on the day as referees and officials. Without your assistance, it's not possible to run these events. This will be our last tournament for the year, so it's rest time now for our squad classes. Squad training will resume again in the new year at the start of the new school term. Celebrating Senpai David Strazzari Throughout October we have had to say goodbye to an extraordinary young man, Senpai David Strazzari (shodan - 1st Degree Black Belt).

We know he hasn t had the easiest journey, but he has come through with strength of character and inspired many of us along the way.

4 Celebrating Senpai David Strazzari Throughout October we have had to say goodbye to an extraordinary young man, Senpai David Strazzari (shodan - 1st Degree Black Belt). David has been with us in the dojo since he was a young child, more than half of his life. We ve seen him grow up and go through a lot of challenges on his journey into adulthood. We know he hasn t had the easiest journey, but he has come through with strength of character and inspired many of us along the way. Senpai David will now pursue a career with the Australian Army and we do hope to see him back in the dojo in the near future. To help encourage this and make it bit more accessible, our local association offers a training scholarship each year to one member to be accompanied by either Sensei Martin or Sensei Sandra. Again next year (2018), the scholarship is on offer again. Even if you are not applying for the scholarship, the invitation is also open to other members too. It's not an open invitation and it's not just for a holiday, this will be a training trip and it's only recommended for serious students who are prepared to work hard. Of course there will also be opportunities for sightseeing and a taking in the local culture, but the primary focus is HARD training. Registration forms have been distributed via student mailboxes.
