5 ARCA By The Numbers is the 63rd season of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards ARCA & Television 20 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race events in 2015 The 2014 season marked ARCA s first full year on FOX Sports. NewsCorp, the parent company of FOX Broadcasting Company, rebranded SPEED in September, ARCA s relationship with the FOX Sports family of networks reaches back to April 20, 1997, when Speedvision covered the ARCA Racing Series race at Salem Speedway. Cumulatively, Speedvision, Speed Channel, SPEED and FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 have telecast 218 races encompassing 18 years of covering the ARCA Racing Series. The 2015 season includes 10 live races on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. ARCA As A Sanctioning Body In addition to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, ARCA also is a sanctioning body for approximately 80 other racing events, from local tracks (Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways) to three touring series and a Demolition Derby that has been running for more than 40 years in southeast Michigan. 12 States the ARCA Racing Series will visit in Different tracks on the 2015 ARCA Racing Series schedule ARCA and the CBS Sports Network signed a multi-year agreement in In 2014, CBS Sports Network provided live, flag-to-flag coverage of ARCA races at Elko, Winchester and Madison. CBS Sports Network will broadcast races from Toledo, Winchester and Springfield in ARCA Racing Network Charles Krall (left) and Tim Clagg will return in 2015 for another season of ARCA Racing Network broadcasts. A veteran announcer, Krall serves as play-by-play announcer for several ARCA Racing Series events that are broadcast live on the arcaracing.com while Clagg has been a color commentator. The duo also team up during the racing season for a weekly show that can be heard at 2 p.m. every Thursday throughout the season. 6 RECORD BOOK POINTS 2015 SEASON DRIVERS RACE FACTS SERIES INFO 6 What s New in 2015 Race Points Scoring points awarded upon pre-entering and competing 5 points awarded to polewinner The ARCA Ilmor 396 is a progressive and innovative engine package option beginning in The purpose-built engine was developed and assembled by Ilmor Engineering. The engine will utilize a 396-cubic inch displacement steel engine block and will deliver a minimum 700 horsepower and 500 foot pounds of torque running at 7500 RPM. The engine is fuel-injected with a Holley Electronic Control Unit controlling the entire fuel injection and ignition systems. Finish Points Finish Points Finish Points Finish Points Additional points awarded ARCA IlMOR 396 FIVE STAR RACE CAR BODIES Teams competing in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will have the option of running new flange-fit, modular panel, composite material bodies at tracks one mile and less in length beginning in 2015 The showroom, stock-appearing, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet SS body packages, constructed with state of the art, composite laminate blend materials engineered to be lightweight and durable, and to resist deflection at high speeds. The complete body is comprised of 12 flange-fit modular panels, for ease of installation and quick replacement, and weighs less than 135 pounds. The ease-of-installation design allows teams to install the entire body in their respective shops, and to perform replacement of damaged panels at the team s shop or at the track, resulting in significant savings in time and labor required for repairs points awarded to any official lap leader 5 points awarded to leader of the most laps 5 points awarded to race winner points awarded upon entering & competing in each pre-designated 5 race leg of the overall schedule ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Event Media Guide

When the 63-year-old stock car tour converges on the small, southern Indiana city of Salem, Indiana, it will mark the 97th appearance at Salem since debuting on the historic half-mile oval in Over the years, no track has appeared on ARCA s annual schedule more than Salem. The Federated Auto Parts 200 is set for Sunday, April 26 at Salem Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery. The track is already seeing activity with Kimmel Racing testing just last Sunday. Louisville, Kentucky s Bo Le- Mastus and Sellersburg, Indiana s Will Kimmel tested for Kimmel Racing. Had a real good test at Salem, said LeMastus, CEO and Chairman of Crosley Radio. Bill (Kimmel) gave me great advice from A to Z and gave me a really compliant car to test. We got up to speed. We were solid all day. Could have probably pushed it a little more, but we didn t want to put his car in the wall. Kimmel Racing tested two cars at Salem, a steel-bodied Ford Fusion and the new ARCA Racing Series composite body car. LeMastus tested the steel-bodied car while Kimmel tested both. Real good day overall, Kimmel said. We changed some stuff on the front-end of our composite car...pivot points mostly. They were off from where we thought they were. The car definitely acted different after that. I 2014 ARCA RACING SERIES CHAMPION MASON MITCHELL AND 2014 ARCA SCOTT ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AUSTIN WAYNE SELF. think it s better. I m anxious to go back and have a full day there ourselves and getting after it. Our main focus yesterday was to make sure he (LeMastus) got plenty of laps in. He got 70 or so laps in so we got him more familiar and comfortable with the car. He did a really nice job. Venturini Motorsports is scheduled to test April 16 with Mason Mitchell Motorsports following April 17. Expected entrants for the Federated Auto Parts 200 include point leader Grant Enfinger coming off back-toback wins at Daytona and Mobile, NASCAR/ARCA winner Ken Schrader and three-time Salem winner Tom Hessert to name a few. Current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Justin Allgaier and Alex Bowman have also visited victory lane in ARCA competition at Salem. The Federated Auto Parts 200 at Salem will spread out over two days, Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26. Practice for the Federated Auto Parts 200 will include two sessions from 12:00 noon to 12:45 and final practice from 1:15 to 2:00 Saturday afternoon, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 3:30. 14 RECORD BOOK POINTS 2015 SEASON DRIVERS RACE FACTS SERIES INFO 14 Hessert aiming for four out of six ARCA wins at Salem; Feder- ARCA PRESS RELEASE April 14, 2015 (TOLEDO, Ohio - April 14, 2015) - Nobody does Salem Speedway better than Tom Hessert, not lately anyway. Hessert has won three of the last five ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events at Salem, including the last one there after a last lap skirmish with Mason Mitchell coming off turn four. He ll get the chance to make it four out of six when ARCA returns to the historic southern Indiana oval for the Federated Auto Parts 200 coming Sunday, April 26, the 97th running since Hessert equates his Salem success to multiple factors. Salem is a combination of so many things...so many things that must go right, and so many things that could go wrong, said Hessert. But that s what makes it so cool. Hessert s first win at Salem came aboard a Ken Schrader Racing Chevrolet in September of The Cherry Hill, New Jersey driver held off future NASCAR stars Chris Buescher and Chase Elliott for the win. All-time Salem winner Frank Kimmel followed in fourth with Alex Bowman in fifth. I think the first advice I ever got from Frank (Kimmel) on that place was that you have to...as much as possible...forget about your competitors and race the race track, and he s absolutely right. If you don t get that advice early on, you ll eventually find it out on your own...the hard way...back of a wrecker. Your biggest opponent at Salem is the track, period. It s so hard on everything so you really have to take care of your car... so you have something to race with at the end. Salem has always been known for its rock em - sock em style...a track that bites hard, and often. However, in the last show at Salem, just one caution for eight laps slowed the race. When it all shook out, just two drivers were on the lead lap, and those two drivers - Hessert and Mitchell - came together in a spectacular display of sparks coming to the checkered flag. Hessert emerged the winner while Mitchell slid across the stripe backwards. There has been so much green flag racing (at Salem) the last few years, which is not exactly typical of Salem. You just can t get too excited too early if you re getting passed. Let em go... settle in and try and not let the leaders get too far away. As long as you re on the lead lap at the end, you ve got a shot to win. To be honest, we haven t led very many laps but we ve managed to keep ourselves out of trouble so we have something to race with at the end. That s the trick anywhere, but I d say it s the trickiest at Salem. Hessert s second Salem win came in April of By this time, he had switched from Schrader Racing to Cunningham Motorsports, the same team he won with last year. Salem s been such a good track for me...i absolutely love the place. It ll always be one of my favorites. It s such a cool track... so much character. You feel every bump in that track lap after lap after lap. I think the more comfortable you can get there, the better off you are. You ve got to get in a rhythm, settle down, keep the fenders on it so you re in contention at the end. Everyone has their track they re comfortable at, for whatever reason. Salem s been that place for me. You get in a rhythm and go to work. And most certainly, Hessert will have his work cut out for him in the upcoming Federated Auto Parts 200, especially considering Grant Enfinger has won three straight to start the season. That s the thing about Salem. None of the past success matters on raceday. Yah it s great to have the experience, the wins, but we all start from scratch every time we walk through the gate at Salem. There are just too many variables that come into play there. Grant s obviously on a hot streak right now, but if I didn t think we had a good shot to beat him, we wouldn t be going to the track. I thought we had a good shot to win at Nashville, but the circumstances didn t work out for us. Grant works very hard at what he does...he s with a great team. We re going to do everything we can to close the gap and compete. Salem s a new race...a new opportunity. I wouldn t mind making it four out of six. I ve lost a lot more than I ve won there. 15 Schrader looking for lady luck at Salem ARCA PRESS RELEASE APRIL 21, 2015 (TOLEDO, Ohio - April 21, 2015) - It s no secret that Ken Schrader s got the experience and skill to win at Salem Speedway, but you have to have the luck to go with it. Nobody understands that more than Schrader, who won only in the hard luck category last year. While he was fast in both ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events at Salem in 2014, he just couldn t find the good luck to match. I just hope it goes better than last year, said Schrader, who is entered in this Sunday s, April 26 Federated Auto Parts 200 at Salem. Schrader, whose one and only ARCA win at Salem was in 1999, was referring to the luck he had during the race, and on the way to the track. Last year, we had the speed...i just screwed up with a lapped car. Schrader was leading last year s spring race inside of five laps to go when he got tangled up with Kyle Weatherman as he was about to put him a lap down. The incident caved in the right-front fender, causing the tire to go down, which sent him into the turn one wall. He limped home eighth. In the fall race, had an issue...went a bunch of laps down...got a bunch of laps back...finished fifth. That was only part of the bad luck Schrader encountered around last year s Salem ARCA races. We just didn t have any luck last year at Salem. I wrecked my truck on the way to test...never did get to test. Then, in the fall, I fell down on my bike heading to the track. I m hoping this year s goes a little smoother. Schrader was en route to Salem on his motorcycle when he went down on wet, slippery pavement on an on-ramp leading to the expressway. Schrader wasn t broken, but plenty sore by the time he made it to the track for the race. Schrader, who turns 60 in May, has already got 20 races in the books this year, with 90-plus on his 2015 calendar. Nothing new here...he s been doing it this way for decades. Schrader finished fifth in his Federated Auto Parts modified last Friday night at Callaway Speedway in Fulton, Missouri, and second at Macon (Ill.) Speedway Saturday night. En route to Salem this weekend, Schrader s stopping off first at Southern Iowa Speedway Wednesday night for another dirt modified adventure. That said, the NASCAR veteran and 17- time ARCA winner should be plenty warmed up for this weekend s Federated Auto Parts 200 at Salem. I m ready. I m always ready for Salem. One of the things I like about that place is that no matter how much you improve it, there are certain characteristics about the track that you won t change. It takes a ridiculous about of money to repave the entire track, but what they did last year... the repaving of three and four...that was a really good thing. You re not going to change the line through there (three and four)... the radius and banking is going to keep the car right at the top, no matter what you do down there. But what they did was widen the groove...really improved it. They fixed what they needed to. Hopefully, it s good to go for another 10 years. Despite just one ARCA victory at Salem 16 years ago, Schrader understands how to win on the historic short track. Salem s a handful either way you cut it. Besides racing the competitors, which we ll keep you busy in itself, you have to race the track. That place will sneak up on you. It s a lot easier to get in trouble there...easier than most. We had some really good shots at two (wins) last year...it just didn t work out for us. We ll try again. Schrader s most recent ARCA win was at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds mile dirt in September of 2013, making him the oldest winner in ARCA history at 58.
