5 ARCA By The Numbers is the 63rd season of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards ARCA & Television 20 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race events in 2015 ARCA signed a new, three-year contract with NewsCorp, the parent company of FOX Broadcasting Company, in early NewsCorp rebranded SPEED in September, ARCA s relationship with the FOX Sports family of networks reaches back to April 20, 1997, when Speedvision covered the ARCA Racing Series race at Salem Speedway. Cumulatively, Speedvision, Speed Channel, SPEED and FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 have telecast 218 races encompassing 18 years of covering the ARCA Racing Series. The 2015 season includes 10 live races on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. ARCA As A Sanctioning Body In addition to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, ARCA also is a sanctioning body for approximately 80 other racing events, from local tracks (Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways) to three touring series and a Demolition Derby that has been running for more than 40 years in southeast Michigan. 12 States the ARCA Racing Series will visit in Different tracks on the 2015 ARCA Racing Series schedule CBS Sports Network will broadcast races from Toledo, Winchester and Springfield in ARCA and the CBS Sports Network signed a multi-year agreement in In 2014, CBS Sports Network provided live, flag-to-flag coverage of ARCA races at Elko, Winchester and Madison. ARCA Racing Network Charles Krall (left) and Tim Clagg will return in 2015 for another season of ARCA Racing Network broadcasts. A veteran announcer, Krall serves as play-by-play announcer for several ARCA Racing Series events that are broadcast live on the arcaracing.com while Clagg has been a color commentator. The duo also team up during the racing season for a weekly show that can be heard at 2 p.m. every Thursday throughout the season. The engine will utilize a 396-cubic inch displacement steel engine block and will deliver a minimum 700 horsepower and 500 foot pounds of torque running at 7500 RPM. The engine is fuel-injected with a Holley Electronic Control Unit controlling the entire fuel injection and ignition systems. Finish Points Finish Points Finish Points Finish Points Additional points awarded ARCA IlMOR 396 FIVE STAR RACE CAR BODIES Teams competing in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will have the option of running new flange-fit, modular panel, composite material bodies at tracks one mile and less in length beginning in 2015 The showroom, stock-appearing, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet SS body packages, constructed with state of the art, composite laminate blend materials engineered to be lightweight and durable, and to resist deflection at high speeds. The complete body is comprised of 12 flange-fit modular panels, for ease of installation and quick replacement, and weighs less than 135 pounds. Sandwiched in between events at Talladega Superspeedway, the circuit s biggest track at 2.66-miles, and a 2.25-mile road course in New Jersey the following weekend, the versatile ARCA Racing Series returns to its hometown roots for another short-track classic on the Toledo half-mile oval, the 74th running since Current point leader Grant Enfinger was the first driver to submit an entry in the No. 23 GMS Racing Chevrolet SS. The Fairhope, Alabama driver comes on the strength of three consecutive wins to start the year at Daytona, Mobile and Nashville, and maybe more by the time the big show at Toledo comes to town. Toledo is one of those tracks that s been circled on our calendar, Enfinger said. We ve been so close to winning there, but just haven t sealed the deal. It s a really special place for me. That s where I really started my ARCA career... our first full-fledged effort back in the year (Justin) Allgaier won the championship. I love that place. For a short track, it s really fast. It s got more grip than most short tracks and the tires stay on you longer. It s definitely one of my favorites. With all the cool history it s got, naturally we want to be part of that history...as a winner. Nine-time Toledo winner Frank Kimmel is also expected to enter. The 10-time ARCA Racing Series national champion is running a partial season in 2015 in the No. 25 Ansell-Menards Toyota Camry for Venturini Motorsports. Toledo is one of the events circled on Kimmel s schedule. Kimmel is the all-time ARCA winner with 80 career victories, the first of which came at Toledo in I remember that my wife Donna wasn t there, Kimmel said. She rarely missed one of my short track races, but she couldn t be there that day. I remember calling her. She asked, How d you do? I told her we won it; she thought I was lying. 13 Frank Kimmel: 9 wins and counting at Toledo Speedway ANSELL/MENARDS PRESS RELEASE (MAY 13, 2015) CONCORD, N.C. (May 13, 2015) It s been nearly two years since Frank Kimmel visited victory lane and collected his record setting 80th ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards career win at Kansas Speedway in the 2013 series finale. Kimmel, the 10-Time ARCA Series champion, hopes to change that stat and add to his legacy this weekend when he makes his 37th career start at Toledo Speedway in Sunday s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care. Toledo Speedway, already a special place for Kimmel, sets the table for another memorable race for the Clarksville, Indiana native. Kimmel, who earned his first ARCA Racing victory at Toledo in 1994, has gone on to win at his favorite tracks nine-times during his storied career. I m excited to go back to Toledo driving the Ansell-Menards Toyota. The Venturini short track program is excellent and I m anxious to drive one of their cars on a track that s been so good to me over the years, said Kimmel. In 36 ARCA career starts at Toledo, Kimmel has amassed 9 wins, 24 Top-5 s and 27 top-10 finishes. Making the switch to Venturini Motorsports during the off-season, Kimmel will make his second start of the season behind the wheel of his No.25 Ansell-Menards Toyota and his third season start overall. In a new role for the series veteran Kimmel is splitting time behind the wheel of the No.25 Ansell-Menards Toyota with VMS teammate Brandon Jones. After a strong test last week at Motor Mile Speedway I feel we have the car dialed-in and ready for Sunday s race. The combination of Kimmel and Jones has proven be strong. In the first five races of the season the duo have combined to earn four top-5 s and five top- 10 finishes placing the No.25 Ansell-Menards team second in ARCA owner championship point standings. 14 RECORD BOOK POINTS 2015 SEASON DRIVERS RACE FACTS SERIES INFO 14 NASCAR, ARCA veteran Ken Schrader entered at Toledo ARCA PRESS RELEASE April 29, 2015 (TOLEDO, Ohio - April 29, 2015) - ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader turns 60 years young on May 29. He s also more than ready to turn laps at one of his favorite short tracks when the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care comes to Toledo Speedway Saturday and Sunday, May Schrader is the series most recent winner, dominating the 200-lap race last Sunday at Salem Speedway. In doing so, he surpassed his own mark of being the oldest winner in ARCA Racing Series history. The win at Salem was Schrader s 18th ARCA victory overall and came in his 75th career ARCA start. That only means we want to be an older winner at Toledo, said Schrader, who s won five ARCA races at Toledo reaching back to his first win there in 1997, and his last in Toledo s such a fun track. If you get your car right, you can make other grooves work. Lapped traffic really comes into play there, and it gets even more interesting when you re racing lead lap cars in traffic. It s exciting from our seat. Schrader says that winning any ARCA race anywhere is becoming more challenging. There was a time when, if you were in a good car, you could come from the back. But now, the competition level in ARCA and the quality of the cars has risen so much. It s flat hard to win an ARCA race no matter where it is. Toledo will be no different. Schrader also says it s important to take care of your equipment throughout the race, so you have something left at the end. I think any race...the first three-quarters is staying out of trouble, figuring out what your car needs and the adjustments you need to make. Then, over the last quarter, you go like hell. You can t win a race in the first three-quarters, but you can sure screw it up. By the time he gets to Toledo in mid-may, he ll have already competed in more than 30 races across the country, many of them in his Federated Auto Parts dirt modified. With 90-plus races, including at least 10 ARCA races on his 2015 calendar, he s up to his old tricks. Nothing new here...he s been doing it this way for decades. We re having so much fun running around the country racing. I have to thank Federated Auto Parts...they ve been with us for 16 years now. They make this possible. I hope to keep doing it for years to come...there are no plans for retirement. We re such big fans of the ARCA Series. Toledo is its hometown track, and I really enjoy being part of that. It s definitely one of my favorite tracks...always has been. We race there every chance we get. 15 Third-generation Wallace to make ARCA debut ARCA PRESS RELEASE MAY 12, 2015 (TOLEDO, Ohio - May 12, 2015) - Matt Wallace, part of the third generation in the family of famous Wallace racers, is scheduled to make his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care Saturday and Sunday, May at Toledo Speedway. Wallace is the son of NASCAR/ARCA veteran driver Mike Wallace and nephew of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace. Kimmel Racing will field the car. We want to get approved to potentially run some races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series...in the event an opportunity should develop for us, Wallace said. My dad is friends with Bill Kimmel. They got together and discussed what it d take to run a few ARCA races and sprung a deal at the last minute to make our ARCA debut at Toledo. I ve been to Toledo one time, when my sister Chrissy (Wallace) made her ARCA debut out there. I know it s a really famous short track, and I m really looking forward to it. I m very excited to go there with Kimmel Racing; it s quite an honor for me. This is part of a stepping stone process for me that will hopefully help me get to that next level. But, first things first. We need to go to Toledo, run respectable, turn some heads so we can do more. I really appreciate Kimmel Racing and the expertise they bring. Bill Kimmel, eight-time Cometic of the Year Crew Chief champion, has groomed several drivers over the last half-dozen years, including his son Will and Michael Lira, most recently. We just want to get Matt some experience in these bigger, heavier cars, Kimmel said. We want to make him as competitive as we can and give him as much experience as we can. Our first goal will be to finish the race, so he can get that experience. Things are progressing nicely... he was here last week and got fitted into the car. While Wallace is a rookie among the ARCA ranks, the 19-year-old racer has already been behind the wheel for years. I started racing at eight years old in the Bandoleros, continued Wallace. Then we moved into the Legend cars... won a championship at 12 or 13 down at Orlando Speedworld. I remember Chase Elliott running down there at the same time. Then we moved up into the Pro Late Model division...drove for a gentleman by the name of Mike Scott...won five races at I-44 Speedway and finished runner-up in championship points. They were on a decimal system there, and we lost by.043 points. In 2014, we started our own late model team under Mike Wallace Racing... raced at Hickory, Nashville...all those famous short tracks. We won a Pro Late Model race at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway. to me. I ve been going with Steven (Wallace) to help him on his late models... just trying to take in as much as I can and learn as much as I can. It s a process. His father Mike Wallace (far right) made 21 ARCA starts over the years before moving into the NASCAR ranks. Wallace won six ARCA races over a three-year span - at Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta, and three times at Pocono. But I don t hang the Wallace name over my head. I m grateful for it...i m proud of my last name and what it s meant to racing. Maybe one day it can help me in the door, but I don t expect it to pay my future. Speaking of futures, Wallace is certainly planning for his. Right now I m attending Rowan-Cabarrus Community College; it s about a half-mile from the shop. I m studying business administration. I ll be a sophomore. I ve got a lot on my plate, but I ve got to have a back-up plan if the racing thing doesn t turn out. After three short track races already this year, Austin Wayne Self, Kyle Weatherman and Brandon Jones are tied for the lead with 555 points each headed into the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo. Grant Enfinger, who leads the overall national championship standings, is next in line in the Calypso Short Track Challenge, just 15 points from the leaders. Self and Weatherman are expected to get a bit of a breather considering Jones is not entered to race at Toledo, but we can count on Enfinger in the line-up. Enfinger opened the 2015 season with three consecutive wins at Daytona, Mobile and Nashville. Weatherman, who drives for Cunningham Motorsports, is just 17, which he means he can t yet compete on ARCA s superspeedways until he turns 18. This Calypso Short Track Challenge title is really cool, especially for me because I can t run the full season, said Weatherman, who turns 18 August 28. I don t have a chance for the overall championship, but we re definitely in the running for the short track championship. This gives me a lot more motivation going into Toledo, knowing that title is attainable. Weatherman has already finished a career-best second on three occasions - twice at Salem and once at Iowa. The Wentzville, Missouri driver opened the 2015 season with a pair of fifth place finishes at Mobile ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Event Media Guide Hoosier Superspeedway Challenge 1.
