15 Page 15 REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE The following requests were presented for Board approval: Brian and Ted Kennedy, East Amwell. Cows and horses on 20 acres and would like assistance with grazing and fencing. Ben and Kendra Richardson, Franklin Twp. Horses on 18.5 acres and would like assistance with grazing, manure management, and erosion control. Douglas Urbano, East Amwell. 25 acres of cropland and hay and would like assistance with erosion and surface water control. After a brief discussion of each request, a motion was made: MOTION: Stothoff, 2 nd Manners, passed by unanimous voice vote; To approve the requests for assistance and have District Chairman sign the requests. NRCS staff will fulfill the request as per the agency s agreement with the District. OTHER Soil Health Initiative Updates: o National shortage of cover crop seed. Original supplier could not provide original mix so we had to seek out a new supplier. Triticale was in short supply, but we have now secured a new source. The current mix to be flown on August 31 st will include Triticale, Crimson Clover, and 50 lbs. /ac. o Third round of applications will open on July 18 th. Announced on May 27 th, the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP), which is a new, comprehensive and flexible program that uses partnerships to stretch and multiply conservation investments and reach conservation goals on a regional or watershed scale. Through RCPP, NRCS and state, local and regional partners coordinate resources to help producers install and maintain conservation activities and or permanent easements in selected project areas. Partners leverage RCPP funding in project areas and report on the benefits achieved. Frenchtown NRCS has completed a recent Quality Assurance Review (QAR) that we get once every five years. We did very well with only minor issues found. John Van Nuys was interviewed as part of the process to get feedback from the District. A final write-up will be completed within the month and a copy can be given to the District for review or comment. Frenchtown field office also completed its Strategic Plan. A copy of which was provided. Strategic Plan was tabled to be discussed at the August 13 th Board meeting.
16 Page 16 FINANCIAL: Treasurer s Report June The Treasurer s Report for June 2014 was discussed. The following motion was made: MOTION: Manners; 2 nd Mathews: To accept statement of revenue and expenses and to approve the June 2014 Treasurer s Report as presented. MOTION APPROVED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE. Update on County Appropriations: Engisch reported on County Appropriations Budget has been passed. He spoke with Janet, from finance, and hopes to receive funds very soon. FY 2015 Budget: The FY 2015 Budget was discussed. After a discussion, a motion was made to accept the FY 2015 Budget. MISC: MOTION: Stothoff, 2 nd Hill; To accept the FY2015 Budget. MOTION APPROVED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE. Mark Symancek Effective date of retirement is July 1, years of service. Jim Hill gave a brief background and work history of himself to the Board.
