2 WELCOME ADDRESS OF THE PRESIDENT OF FISU Dear friends, You are all here in Liberec today to attend or participate in the 14th World University Golf Championship. This event is part of FISU s wonderful program featuring 28 World University Championships in 2012; already in 2010, 27 championships had been held, gathering 4431 student athletes. It is important to mention that over 300 University World Championships have been organized under the aegis of FISU since 1962 in 51 countries over the 5 continents. They have featured 31 disciplines and gathered nearly student athletes in total. The 2012 World University Championships represent the 25 th edition of these competitions, which take place every two years in even-numbered years. They alternate with Summer and Winter Universiades, which are organized in odd-numbered years. The championships provide a large number of students, teachers and sports leaders from various backgrounds with a place, in addition to Universiades, to meet and share their experiences and ideas. The success of the championships has regularly increased with time. This shows how dynamic FISU member National University Sports Federations have been; more and more of them have put themselves forward for the organization of a championship. FISU actively supports those events and endeavors to satisfy students creativity and aspirations by regularly promoting innovative sports disciplines. The aim is to retain the spirit of play and encourage the development of an open and curious mind among university athletes. As university events, these world championships aim at the highest technical level and Excellence, which are the basic requirements in university. In this sense, your presence here is already a sign of success. The International University Sports Federation, the National University Sports Federation of Czech Republic and all the organizers wish to thank you for your participation and hope that you will be warmly welcome here, where you will find favorable conditions for the best practice of your sport. 3 ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE CHAIRMAN OF CUSA Dear sport friends, Czech University Sports Association (CUSA) is an active member of the International University Sports Federation. It participates in FISU activities and participates in World University Championships (WUC). Besides the regular participation in international universities competitions we are also amongst the regular WUC organizers in sports that are in WUC of FISU program. From the period of Czech as an individual nation in 1993 there were eight WUC badminton and water slalom (1994), triathlon (1996), judo (1998), squash (2000), sport shooting (2003), orienteering (2004) and baseball (2008). Also from our initiative there were two new sports added to program of FISU water slalom (1994) and sport shooting (2003). On the occasion of celebrating 100 years of Czech university sport ( ) we were elected to arrange two WUC in 2012 WUC in golf and floorball. The organizer of WUC in floorball is CVUT in Prague and the tournament will be held through 21 st to 28 th May in Prague. The organization of WUC 2012 in golf was assigned to Technical University in Liberec and Czech Golf Federation by CUSA. The provider of flawless organization and successful technical embodiment is a team of experienced teachers and students of the Department of Physical Education of Technical University in Liberec under the supervision of Mr. Jindrich Martinec. This team already has a lot of experiences with organization of WUC in 1996 they successfully organized WUC in triathlon and in 2007 our biggest national multisport event Czech University Games. Golf is a dynamically evolving sport in our country. The numbers of great courses are rising and also the number of players. On top of that, golf is an integral part of sports life of college students and has its place in programs of inter-universities competitions. Every year under the supervision of golf commission of CUSA there is a Czech University championship and our best student golf players are regular participants of WUC and on Universiades all around the world. The great success of our golf player Katerina Ruzickova, who won at the world Universiade in Chinese Shenzhen in August 2011 a silver medal, is a wonderful thing for further development of the Czech academic golf. This medal is also a historically first one in the Czech golf from a world event. We are pleased that we had been given the opportunity to organize WUC and that we can welcome best world university golf players in We are thankful to the Technical University in Liberec for the support and we wish the organizers and their team all the best for the organization of this international event. We believe that it will be successful, that it will confirm the qualities of Czech university sport, our organizing skills and our qualities both social and in sport. doc. TRANSPORT Liberec is located in the North of Czech Republic and has very good accessibility by motorway R10 from capital city of Czech republic, Prague.

7 TRANSPORT Liberec is located in the North of Czech Republic and has very good accessibility by motorway R10 from capital city of Czech republic, Prague. Distance between these cities is around 100 km and the journey takes about one hour. Transport from/to airport The nearest international airport is Prague International Airport Ruzyne (distance about 130 km, approx. travel time about 1,5 hour). OC will provide transport between the Prague Airport and accommodation in Liberec according the arrival/departure schedule of delegations. The transport of participants will be monitored by the members of OC at Airport Ruzyne based upon information provided in advance regarding arrivals/departures and based upon the actual situation (delays, etc.). After arrival the participants will be directed by members of OC to the transport point at the airport and afterwards will be transported to Liberec. Transport to/from sport venue - Golf Resort Ypsilon Distance between accommodation place, Harcov and Golf Resort Ypsilon is about 15 km and the journey takes approx. 30 minutes. OC will provide shuttle bus service between accommodation place and sport venue - Golf Resort Ypsilon for all participants. OC will create fixed bus timetable according to sport program. Page 7

ACCOMMODATION Participants of 14th World University Golf Championship in 2012 will be accommodated in the dorms in Harcov which belongs to the Technical University of Liberec.

The campus consists of six buildings with a total capacity of 1057 double-bedded rooms and for the purpose of the championship four of those building will be available.

8 ACCOMMODATION Participants of 14th World University Golf Championship in 2012 will be accommodated in the dorms in Harcov which belongs to the Technical University of Liberec. The dorms went through the reconstruction in 2008 due to the accommodation of participants of FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in The housing quality therefore now matches the standard of 3*. The campus consists of six buildings with a total capacity of 1057 double-bedded rooms and for the purpose of the championship four of those building will be available. Each building has own reception 24/7. All housing will be in a form of apartments each consisted of two rooms with common bathroom and toilet, kitchenette, a fridge and a spacious wardrobe. 19. hole consists of restaurants, bars, pizzeria, bowling and a disco. All of which is in the campus. Other sport facilities available are tennis courts, beach volleyball pitch, sports hall, climbing wall, gym, sauna and a rope climbing center. Also, organizers and volunteers will be housed in the campus. Page 8

It has capacity up to 350 seats. Accreditation Card must be shown in order to enter the Dining hall. Food and beverages Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be in buffet style. Everybody can choose what he likes. Refreshments will be available involving warm and cold drinks, pastries, fruit and vegetable and biscuits. The menu has been designed so as to meet the needs and nutritional values of top athletes. Meals for vegetarians and individuals with special food requests are also available. A sufficient amount of both cold and warm drinks is available in the dining hall every time, Page 9
