2 FROM PRESIDENT S DESK For last 2-3 months we have been working towards the Miracle Rotal Our Club was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting this event by our dynamic District Governor, Rtn Shashi Kumar Sharma, due to our rich experience in this regard. It has been most wonderful experience for me as the President to undertake this responsibility. Although it was a challenge for me to organize such prestigious event, the great support I received from all the members, made this event a grand success. There has been several visits by ROTAL Team to various clubs, followed by communications via e mail, telephone calls and what's app for enrolling participants and seeking co-hosts. Our visits have paid back getting us good number of registrations - with 20 Clubs registering 55 entries for the Dance competition and 30 Clubs registering 169 entries for the Singing competition - a total of 215 participants with 224 entries; making the event MIRACULOUS. I thank the convener PP Anand, Rtns Pradeep and Seema Patole, our Club Treasurer Rtn Vandana, Club Secretary Rtn Suryakumar and all members of ROTAL Team for their tireless efforts and making Miracle Rotal 2018 as the best ROTALs so far. On 15 th November RCMM, joining hands with ThyssenKrupp handed over Modern Gel Documentation Digitized System for Detection of Cancer to Cancer Patients Aid Association in the presence of PDG Gopal Mandania. I am sure that the great fellowship we enjoyed while organizing Miracle Rotal 2018 will indeed add further glory to our Club and District in coming years. 2

4 CSR PROJECT DIGITIZED SYSTEM FOR CANCER DETECTION The number of cancer cases in India is increasing every year. According to WHO's Cancer Report, in India, lung, oral, lip, throat and neck cancers are the most common among men while women suffer more from cervix, breast and ovarian cancers. It has become necessary to have as many facilities in the hospitals for early detection of cancers. With advance technology, better and accurate methods are coming up. Rotary Club of Mumbai Mahim, joining hands with ThyssenKrupp came up with proposal of donating Modern Gel Documentation Digitized System for Detection of Cancer to Cancer Patients Aid Association. 5 MIRACLE ROTAL 2018 Music is a powerful form of expressing the creativity of God. It transcends language barriers and communicates deep feelings from our souls. When we use music to express our gratitude to God, we connect with GOD. ROTAL is manifestation of Music and Dance. ROTAL is a competition of singing and dancing!! Rotary members, Inner Wheel Members, Rotaractors, Interactos and close relatives of Rotarians participate in this competition to showcase their talent and it s a great opportunity for fellowship. For Rotary Club of Mumbai Mahim ROTAL comes naturally, it s in their DNA. But hosting an event like ROTAL is not the work of single person; as it turns out, it is proof of the dedication, love, contribution, efforts, support and unity of all the members from RC Mumbai Mahim and RC Mumbai Parleshwar (Lead Co-Host) under the able leadership of Rtn. Anand Limaye. RC of Bombay Sea Coast, RC Mandavi, RC Bombay Pier and RC Mumbai Western Elite supported as Gold Co-Host and RC Boisar Industrial Town, Mumbai BKC, Bombay Bay View, Bombay Central, Bombay Mid City, Chandivali Mumbai, Bombay Powai, Bombay Sea Face, Bombay Uptown, Bombay Worli, Mumbai Jewels, Mumbai Juhu, Mumbai Shivaji Park, Mumbai Salt City, Bombay Hanging Garden, Bombay Queen s Necklace supported as Silver Co-Host. Event was spread over in elimination, semifinals and final rounds on the 18th November, 20th November, 23rd November and culminating in the finals on 1 st December, Transparent process of evaluation, with prior information on the performance weightage parameters and instant flashing of the score card after an event ensured that the evaluation was fair and professional. Special attention was given to help the participants to bring out their best by organizing for them special guidance and rehearsal sessions. The eminent judges enthralled the audience by themselves rendering a number and providing their valuable feedback and concluding remarks. 8 MIRACLE ROTAL 2018 It was a treat to see Rotarians and their families from the youngest to the oldest' enjoying themselves taking part in the event and cheering their parents or children, making it a grand family affair. A competition where every contestant is encouraged, where every club cheered, clapped and whistled for one another. The most outstanding performance was by Dr. Priyadarshani Joshi from RC of Bombay Up-Town. The appreciative fact, that she is differently abled, in spite of which she dared to challenge the normal participants. The performance was done with such finesse and grace that she received standing ovation. This is the true Spirit of Rotal!! To mark the occasion a special edition of our monthly bulletin was released at the hands of DG Shashi Sharma at the finals. This issue besides highlighting RCMM s activities, it also contains articles on music, dance and social work. All events were conducted as per time schedule and the finale was a glittering awards distribution ceremony at the Hands of DG Shashi Sharma and his District team. DG also requested parents of child singer / dancer to accompany them on Dias, acknowledging the efforts of parents. Group Chief Avenue Head Club Service Rtn. Virendra Widge addressed the audience and mentioned that he is pleased to see that RCMM is not sparing any efforts to take the event to greater heights year after year. DG Shashi Sharma addressed the audience at the end. He has declared three trophies and same will be awarded in the District Conference. This event of ROTAL has brought about a tremendous sense of Bonding and Fellowship amongst our own club members and other Rotarians and their families, which all contribute to make the Rotary Movement even more relevant and purposeful. 13 FAMILY CORNER DIWALI Diwali, or Dipawali, is the festival of India and gets its name from the row(avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.
