The meeting is your opportunity to get involved with organising canoe polo in Australia. Everyone is more than welcome to attend. Team Leader Briefing A Team Leader Briefing will be conducted at 6:30pm on Thursday 7th April 2016 at the Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club, Corner Goodwin Terrace and Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads. Kayak Storage All kayaks are to be stored in the designated area when not in use. Any repairs are to be carried out only in the kayak storage area. There will be boat storage available on site from Thursday until Sunday. The event organizers and pool management take no responsibility of any loss or damage to equipment. Pool management have a nightly security patrol service. It is recommended that only boats be left in storage overnight (at owners own risk). Shade The event organizers will provide portable tents for shade for competitors and spectators. There are also some permanent shade structures at the venue. Please be sun safe prepared for this event. 4

The first aid person will be located as per the site map below, and will be accessible to all participants and officials. 6 3. Scrutineering Scrutineering: Chief Scrutineer Lenore Solomon Scrutineering will be conducted according to ICF Rules. In particular: All playing tops and buoyancy vests for each team must be the same colour. All helmets for each team must be the same colour. AC CPTC has decided to allow the covering of helmets with vinyl. It is recommended that face masks be removed if covering helmets with vinyl. This must be of good quality and high standard with minimal creases and bubbles. This will be at the discretion of the Chief Scrutineer. Numbers on helmets MUST be made from 1 single piece of vinyl. Numbers made from strips of vinyl or tape will NOT be acceptable. All kayak colours for each team must be the same colour and have the same markings above the water line. Vinyl coverings on kayaks must be of good quality and high standard. This will be at the discretion of the Chief Scrutineer. All stickers under vinyl coverings must be removed if visible through vinyl. Clear carbon helmets and kayaks will not be accepted as black unless all helmets and kayaks are identical. Please ensure that all bumpers are of excellent condition and meet the current ICF rules. All Team Managers are requested to ensure that the covering of kayaks and helmets are competed prior to arriving at the competition venue. All equipment must be fully ready at the time of scrutineering. Repairs & contacting of equipment is not permitted in the scrutineering area. Please ensure that your entire team arrive to scrutineering together. 6

Rules Rules: Chief Referee James Deakin The rules of play will be the ICF Polo rules, effective 1st January The rules are available at Referee Briefing and Exam: A Referee Briefing and Exam will be conducted at 7:30pm on Thursday the 7th April 2016 at Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club. Corner Goodwin Terrace and Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads. Practical Exams will also be conducted thought the Championship. Shot Clock The shot clock will only be used in the following divisions: Youth, Women, Open, Veterans, Masters Mini and Micro Junior Playing Rules The aim of the competition The aim of the Mini and Micro Junior division is to introduce boys and girls under 13 years of age to canoe polo in an inclusive, fun and safe environment. Playing Rules The ICF playing Rules apply, however, there are several exceptions: Age Limitations 6m penalties and referee's ball will not be used There is no shot clock Each team may have one adult on the playing area to assist players requiring support or recovery from capsize. The adult is not permitted to take part in the play. Both girls and boys must be 9 years of age or younger for Mini Juniors and 12 years of age or younger for Micro Juniors by the 1st January of the year of competition. There is some flexibility with age, depending the physical size and skill of an individual. For example, a 14 year old who is small for their age and a beginner could play in this division. Playing Area The playing area is standard size but the goals are lowered 50 cm below the normal height. Equipment All players, coaches, and supporting adults on the water must wear correctly fitting canoe polo equipment in accordance with ICF rules. A size three ball is used. Scorekeeping and Timekeeping Goals will be recorded on the scoreboard. There will be finals. A game consists of two, ten-minute halves. 7

8 Referee Qualifications Australian Canoe Polo has introduced a three level referee accreditation at the championships, You are invited to register for assessment to become an accredited referee. Please register your interest, or enquiry, by sending an to: The Chief Referee James Deakin jamesbdeakin@gmail.com The Australian Canoe Polo Referee accreditations levels are: Level A Australian Canoe Polo Referee Able to confidently control any game at International, Australian Championships or local level Level B Australian Canoe Polo Referee Able to control most games at a local level and gaining experience to be the controlling referee at National level. Level C Australian Canoe Polo Referee A less experienced referee gaining experience at a local and National Level. Able to referee restricted categories with support. All accredited referees will be paid for each game they referee. The payments will be: Level A: $15 per Game Level B: $10 per Game Level C: $5 per Game Please note that all referees MUST be wearing their referee shirts and sign the score sheets after each game. Referees will not be paid the match fee if they have not signed the score sheet for each game. 8
