Legend Selection within Category To see a list of pipe markers within a Category, click in the box labeled Pipe. Using Pre-designed Markers Each pipe marker in the list is identified by its Field Color, Pictograph, Signal Word and Legend. Click on the pipe marker you want to view and it will be displayed on the screen. IMPORTANT NOTE: The ANSI/ASME A standard has identified specific colors for flammable liquids, combustible fluids and toxic or corrosive fluids. You must consult MSDS/SDS Sheets before selecting a color. If the pipe content contains multiple hazards, for instance flammable and toxic, it must be determined which poses the greater risk and mark appropriately. Using Pre-designed Markers 11

Search for Pipe Markers Manual Search To find pipe markers by manually paging through them, click on the desired category in the Category box. Then click in the Pipe box and use the up/down arrows on your keyboard to page through the pipe markers in that category. Using Pre-designed Markers Automatic Search To find pipe markers using the automatic Search function, click on the Search button to the right of the Category Box. A Search For Markers dialog box will pop up. Search for pipe markers by specifying up to three words, in any order, from the English and Spanish Legend and Supplemental text. Click [OK]. The software will search all categories (except the IIAR category), find all the pipe markers that contain the words entered and copy them into the Search on... Category. Click [OK]. The pipe markers will be saved in the Search on... Category until there is a new search. 12 Using Pre-designed Markers

Language All pre-designed pipe markers have both English and Spanish legends and each pipe marker can be printed in one of three language options: English, Spanish, and Bilingual formats. Click in the Language box and click on the desired language option. When Spanish is selected, the pipe marker will look the same as the English pipe marker except that the equivalent Spanish legend is displayed. When Bilingual is selected, both English and Spanish legends are displayed. When you make your selection, the displayed markers will change to reflect your choice. Note: Translations from English to Spanish should be reviewed for clarity and accuracy by the user. Several expressions and dialects exist and K-Sun has presented the most popular translation to the best of our ability. Note: If editing a bilingual pipe marker, edit both the English and Spanish legend (text). If you do not want to edit the Spanish portion, delete it before saving the marker. The Spanish portion is only displayed and printed if Bilingual or Spanish Language options are selected. To type special Spanish characters hold down the Alt key and type the character. To type superscripts and subscripts into a pipe marker legend: Superscript use a carat symbol ^ preceding text character Subscript use a tilde symbol ~ preceding text character Only the character following the symbol will be superscripted or subscripted. If more than one character needs to be superscripted or subscripted then the desired symbol must precede each character. Using Pre-designed Markers Using Pre-designed Markers 13

Pipe (Pipe Size) Using Pre-designed Markers Click in the [Pipe] box and select the size that corresponds to the outer diameter of the pipe to be marked. The software will automatically adjust the length of the marker and the height of the legend letters to comply with ANSI/ASME A or NFPA 99c. After selection, the displayed marker will change. Depending on the Pipe Size and the material size to be printed on, the screen will show how many markers can be printed. For instance: ¾- 1 ¼ pipe size Using K-Sun PEARLabel 360 printer with 36mm supply: 1 marker Using K-Sun PEARLabel 400iXL printer with 4 supply: 4 markers The ASME/ANSI and NFPA standards do not specify marker size for pipes less than 3/4 diameter and recommend using tags for pipes less than 3/4 diameter. K-Sun PipeMarker V8 includes a small marker size for use on pipes less than 3/4 where appropriate. 14 Using Pre-designed Markers

Tape Width For the K-Sun PEARLabel 400iXL there are 24mm/1, 50mm/2 or 100mm/4 tape widths available. For the K-Sun PEARLabel 360 there are 24mm/1 and 36 mm/1 ½ tape widths available. The choice of printer, pipe size and width will determine how many markers are printed. 30 English Legend/Spanish Legend The pipe marker legend identifies the pipe s contents. K-Sun PipeMarker V8 allows you to enter or add to the legend in both English and Spanish for all non-iiar markers. Text is automatically sized as required for the pipe diameter, and set to be black or white letters, per ANSI/ASME guidelines. All pre-designed pipe markers include Spanish Legends that are translations of the English Legend. Editing Pre-designed Marker to Custom Note: When you edit a pipe marker, you must edit both the English and Spanish legend if you wish to have the Spanish Legend correspond to the English Legend. If you do not want to edit the Spanish portion you can delete it before saving your marker. In any case, the Spanish portion is only displayed and printed if you select Bilingual or Spanish Language options. See also special characters. One line of Supplement information can be added in each language. This line can be used alone or in conjunction with Signal Words and Pictographs to give a specific warning about the pipe s contents or to add any additional information that may enhance safety or facilitate identification and maintenance. The font size will automatically be set to be smaller than the Legend font size. When adding Signal Words or additional lines of text, set PRINT PREVIEW on to review before printing. Two exceptions where surround shapes are required are the Safety Alert Symbol (exclamation mark with an equilateral triangle) and the Prohibition Symbol (within a circular band with a diagonal slash.)
