2 About Me Jack Oliver Adolf Lundin 27 years old Born December 30, 1989 in Vancouver BC Canada Mining Engineer For Lundin Gold Inc. Currently living and working in South Eastern Ecuador on the construction of the Fruta del Norte Gold Mine Interests: Sports Motocross, Basketball, Swimming, Fitness training, Snowboarding, Water Skiing Music All Genres Spending time with Family and Friends Desert Racing Natural Resource Industry Professional Sports NBA, NFL, Olympics etc.

Sports Background Growing up in British Columbia, Canada, I spent my winters in the mountains and my summers in the woods. I have competed in freestyle and boarder cross snowboarding competitions.

3 Sports Background Growing up in British Columbia, Canada, I spent my winters in the mountains and my summers in the woods. I have competed in freestyle and boarder cross snowboarding competitions. Snowboarding and dirt biking share many similarities in that they are both done in extreme conditions and require a high level of concentration and focus. In addition to snowboarding and dirt biking, I was sports captain at my boarding school (Aiglon College, Switzerland) and captain of both the rugby and basketball team during my final year of high school. I was also the freestyle snowboarding champion in my final year of high school.

Motivation For Dakar I want to be a part of the new Dakar generation and test both mental and physical endurance through one of the most exciting and tough races on this planet.

4 Motivation For Dakar I want to be a part of the new Dakar generation and test both mental and physical endurance through one of the most exciting and tough races on this planet. I first heard about the Dakar when I was 10 years old because my Father competed in the Paris- Dakar from the years I remember following him online and watching videos on the internet when I was a kid and thinking to myself that one day I would compete in this world class event. I love to challenge myself both mentally and physically and this type of race fits my personality very well. I feel that I am ready to compete in the Dakar because I have been riding motocross for most of my life and competed in a handful of desert races. The last race was the Merzouga Rally. By the end of this competition, I felt very comfortable with using navigation which has given me the confidence to apply for the next Dakar in January 2018.

5 RACE HISTORY (see later slides for full details) 2011: BAJA 250: Pro Class 5 th Place BAJA 1000: Pro Class 10 th Place 2014 VEGAS 2 RENO: 48 th Overall 2015 BAJA 500: Open Amateur 10 th Place 2017 MERZOUGA RALLY: 48 th Overall IN 2011 BAJA 1000 I HAD A BAD CRASH WHICH RESULTED IN A BROKEN FOOT AND A SURGERY WHICH PUT ME OUT OF RACING FOR 2 YEARS. I AM FULLY HEALED AND BELIEVE THAT THE INJURY MADE ME A SMARTER AND SAFER RIDER.

6 TRAINING FOR THE DAKAR As preparation for the Dakar I participated in the Merzouga Rally (48 th overall). This was my first rally and a fantastic experience. I learned and gained confidence in using navigation at high speeds and improved my riding skills in the dunes. I plan to participate in the 50 th anniversary of the Baja 1000 this November which is another race that requires stamina, strength, endurance, and all-terrain skills on the bike. In December 2016, I spent 1 week training with 2 Dakar veterans in La Rioja Province, Argentina around Villa Union, as well as Catamarca Province around Fiambala. This was a great experience and gave me a taste of the conditions that I would face in the Dakar. In addition to these races, I keep up my physical fitness through consistent weight and cardio training. Other forms of exercise through sports that I do are motocross, swimming, hiking, cycling, water skiing, and snowboarding.

SUPPORT My company Lundin Gold Inc. will be providing a part of the funding for the Dakar. We are a Canadian Gold Mining company with a Focus on Mineral Reserves in South Easter Ecuador.

Many of my colleagues in Ecuador have heard of the Dakar and will be following the race closely come January. The rest of the funding will be sourced from myself. I am considering to apply for sponsorships this summer but it is not necessary for my funding.

8 Conclusion 2018 is the ideal year for me to race in the Dakar. I have been dreaming about competing in this competition since I was a kid and I feel physically and mentally prepared to take on this challenge. The Dakar event requires a level of maturity and experience that I believe I have achieved not only through previous races but through hard work and determination. I feel confident that through support from my family, friends, and colleagues, I will be able to succeed in the 2018 Dakar Rally.
