From the talk round the table, most people seemed to be enjoying building models this month, which is strictly out of order, there should be absolutely no fun involved in model building whatso-ever, so stop it, now. Model companies, particularly those which specialise in limited run, do not intend our hobby to be enjoyable!! A further update about next years trip to Belgium is that Brian and Julien will produce an itinerary, based on end of March or May bank holiday, including possible ferry deals. This will most likely be Friday to Sunday, and include a visit to LeBourget museum near Paris. As details become firm, I will bring them to you. Mike and Bob gave an overview of the USA trip, including advice on how to judge at the IPMS US Nationals (or not, as the case may be!!) and what to do at Dulles for five hours when your aircrafts air-con unit breaks down. There are no upcoming shows before the next meeting, but Julien is looking to get confirmation from Brampton, on 28 th September. SMW is nearing, unfortunately, both Mike and Bob have had to withdraw from attending, so it looks like numbers will be slightly down this year. All the more chance for other members who don t normally make the trip to showcase their models. Look out (literally) for another CMW IPMS USA review attached to this issue of drivel.

2 The Competition Back to a normal (is there such a thing) month for the competitions this time, with a good mix of cars, aircraft, figures and army subjects. But who won, that accolade goes to Jon Page with his Bill Sykes figure. This is his and this year s competition first figure into the final. Worthy of mention in dispatches are the four other people who came so close, they are, Jan Maes, Simon Parker, Brian Wakeman and Paul Casson. 3 The Competition So that s who have made it into the final so far this year, still no sign of the one true scale yet but I m sure that something in that scale will join them in the near future. But it s a nice mix of people and subjects so far. What will the last three rounds bring to the table for January? So what s happening in our Scale Modeller of the Year Competition, here is the updated top three in each class so far, with eight rounds down, three to go. See if you can get yourself onto the leader board! -Aircraft 1/50-1/144 = Kev Baxter has 41 points which is more than double of his nearest rival, Michael Carr on 15 points and Brian Wakeman moves into the third spot with 14 points. -Aircraft 1/49-1/10 = Aaron Scott loses his lead to Graham Haynes, Graham with 81 points and Aaron with 79 points, I m sure that Aaron will fight to regain his lead. Simon Parker is still in 3rd spot with 51 points. -Armour 1/50-1/144 = Simon Parker still leads on 21 points with Barry McLoughin in second with a single point. But Jon Page with a change of direction joins in with also one point. -Armour 1/49-1/10 = No change here, Paul Casson continues to lead with 32 points, with Marc Maes in second on 25 points and Bob James in third with 17 points. -Ships = Again no change from last month Michael Carr still leads 7 points from Gary Wenko and Jon Kelly both with a single point. -Figures = Sonia Maes still leads now on 54 points, but is being caught by Paul Casson on 52 points and Jon Page in third with 46 points. -Civilian Vehicles = Simon Parker extends his lead to 56 points. Mark Van Osdol is in 2nd place with 24 points and Steve Baldwin joins in the fun in third with 12 points. -Sci Fi / Fantasy / Misc = No change this month Jon Kelly leads with 2 points. -Juniors (any model) = William Wakeman still all on his own with 15 points. Don t worry William you will soon be in the senior classes, with plenty of company. Well that s it for another month, but time is running out to gain your place on the leader board/s or even in the Grand Final. So try to get those half-finished projects done and see where you can come. But as always if you have any comments / suggestions just come and have a chat. Keep on rockin down the model highway. 4 The Table Simon Parker returns with a colourful Porsche 956C from Revell. Steve Baldwin also brought a colourful example of Nigel Mansell s F1 car from Hasegawa. Jan continued his WWI theme and Jon Page ventured forth into WWII with a pair of Airfix airbourne jeeps.

6 The Table It s that Wakeman Senior again, turning out more nicely finished kits, although no Lego film crews in evidence here. Jon Page strikes again with Bill Sykes (Bullseye to follow), bottom left, while Paul Casson, delivered some 19 th Century Officers.
