2 BADGER NOTEBOOK Freshman Joe Krabbenhoft recorded the first double-double of his career with 10 points and 10 rebounds vs. Minnesota. Krabbenhoft tied a career high by going 5-of-6 from the free throw line and is 17-of-22 (.773) from the stripe in Big Ten play. In conference games, he is among the freshmen leaders in rebounding (second), assists (third), free throws made (fourth) and scoring (eighth). Freshman walk-on Kevin Gullikson scored a career-high 12 points vs. Minnesota, going a personal-best 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Over the last eight games, Gullikson is averaging 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.9 minutes. He played just 19 combined minutes in the first 19 games of the season. In the win over Minnesota, the Badgers had four players (Alando Tucker, Kevin Gullikson, Kammron Taylor and Joe Krabbenhoft) score in double figures. Wisconsin is now 43-3 under Bo Ryan when at least four Badgers score in double figures. The win over Minnesota was the ninth time this season, and third time in the last four games, in which UW trailed in the second half and came back to win. It also improved the Badgers record to 7-1 this season in games decided by six points or less. Over the last two years, Wisconsin s record is 14-2 in such games. Wisconsin scored 80 points against Minnesota, reaching the 80-point plateau for the ninth time this season. UW is averaging 72.8 points per game this season (third in the Big Ten), a mark that would be its highest since the season. The Badgers are 15-2 this season and 71-4 under Bo Ryan when scoring at least 70 points. It was the second time this season UW has made better than 80.0 percent of its free throws. Wisconsin is 10-1 this season (42-4 under Bo Ryan) when attempting at least 25 free throws. Alando Tucker suffered a nasal injury against Wake Forest on Nov. 29 and wore a custom-made protective mask for 13 games. In those games he averaged 18.2 points and shot.428 (92-of-215) from the field and.455 (45-of-99) from the free throw line. Since taking off the mask nine games ago, Tucker is averaging 20.0 points per game and shooting.507 (68-of-134) from the field and.644 (38-of-59) from the line. Tucker has scored 1,429 points in his career, good for eighth place on UW s all-time scoring list. Tucker needs 26 points to move past Penney into seventh place. Wisconsin has gone (.744) in senior Ray Nixon s four years. Only Mike Wilkinson, with 93 wins in his four years, has had a hand in as many wins as Nixon. He has played in 82 UW victories, second-most in school history behind Wilkinson s 93. With its win over Ohio State on Feb. 15, UW improved to 8-4 in the Big Ten. That ensured the Badgers at least a.500 record in league play for the eighth straight season. That is the longest such stretch for UW since it started Big Ten play with 13 consecutive.500 seasons from As of Feb. 24, the Badgers strength of schedule is ranked ninth in the country, the toughest in the Big Ten according to the RPI rankings. They are ranked 15th in the latest RPI rankings, one of six Big Ten teams in the top 25. The Badgers rank second in the league in field goal percentage defense in league games (.410). UW is 15-1 when limiting its opponent to less than 45.0 percent shooting from the field this season. On the season Wisconsin is second in the Big Ten in offensive rebounds (12.78 per game). UW has grabbed 345 offensive boards this year, the third-most in school history. Wisconsin is 14-1 this season when winning the points in the paint battle.

3 After being bothered by an ankle injury and playing just eight minutes vs. Indiana on Feb. 8, Brian Butch has scored 51 points and grabbed 27 rebounds in the last four games. He recorded the third double-double of his career with 23 points and 12 rebounds at Penn State, then scored 17 points vs. Ohio State. Butch is 22-of-35 (.629) from the field in those three games. Ray Nixon scored 10 points in a span of 3:24 late in the second half against Ohio State, giving Wisconsin the lead for good with a 3-pointer with 2:25 left in the game. Over the last five games, Nixon is averaging 8.6 points. Junior guard Kammron Taylor made a career-high six 3-pointers at Penn State (on seven attempts). His 24 points marked the seventh time this season he has scored at least 20 points. Alando Tucker and Kammron Taylor are the highest scoring duo in the Big Ten in league games, averaging 35.6 points per game. They have scored five more points than Michigan State s Shannon Brown and Maurice Ager. Wisconsin has used the same starting lineup in 26 of its 27 games this season. The only deviation was on Feb. 8 vs. Indiana when Michael Flowers started in place of Brian Butch. UW leads the Big Ten in both fewest turnovers (11.6 per game) and turnover margin (+2.37). The Badgers have committed 10 or less turnovers in eight of the last 11 games. The Badgers are also second in the Big Ten in assist-to-turnover ratio during league games (1.28). They are averaging just 11.1 turnovers in conference games. WELCOME TO THE BIG STAGE The Big Ten recently rolled out its Welcome to the Big Stage campaign, a two-year comprehensive marketing and promotional program developed by the league office. The campaign will begin with a new public service announcement (PSA), highlighting the strengths of Big Ten basketball through a contemporary messenger, well-known artist Talib Kweli. Big Ten men s basketball has led the nation in attendance for the last 29 consecutive seasons. The conference also ranks first among all leagues in Final Four appearances (39) and NCAA appearances (172), while also recording the second-most NCAA Tournament victories (280). UW s 13 3-point field goals made against Penn State on Jan. 25 tied a Kohl Center record. The Badgers also made 13 treys against Michigan on Feb. 27, It was the most made 3-pointers for Wisconsin since making 14 at Purdue on Jan. 5, The Badgers attempted 34 3-pointers vs. PSU, a record in a Big Ten game for UW. It was the most 3-point attempts for Wisconsin since shooting 40 vs. Temple on Dec. 3, Wisconsin limited Minnesota to 3-of-24 (.125) shooting from the field in the first half of its game on Jan. 10. The Badgers held UM without a field goal for a stretch of 15:54 in the first half. Wisconsin defeated No. 7 Michigan State on Jan. 8. It was the Badgers second win over a top-10 team under Bo Ryan. UW also defeated seventh-ranked Illinois on Jan. 5, Wisconsin made 75.0 percent of its field goals in the second half vs. MSU. That is tied for the fifth-best shooting performance in a half in UW history. It was the Badgers best shooting half since also making 15-of-20 (.750) field goals against NE Illinois on Nov. 28, The Badgers 82 points vs. Michigan State was their highest output against MSU since an win on Feb. 2, 1994.

During that span, only Illinois (59) has more wins than UW. UW has finished among the top three in the Big Ten in each of Ryan s four seasons. That four-year stretch of topthree finishes is the Badgers best since Junior guard Kammron Taylor hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lead the Badgers to a win over UNC Wilmington on Dec. 12. Earlier this season against Eastern Kentucky, Taylor drained a long trey with 3.3 seconds left in the first overtime to send the game to a second OT. It was the third time in less than a year that UW won on a buzzer beater. Alando Tucker scored on a putback to beat Indiana on March 1 and then hit a 3-pointer to beat Iowa on March 12. UW defeated Norfolk State, Eastern Kentucky and Old Dominion to win the 2005 Paradise Jam Tournament title in St. Thomas, USVI on Nov Alando Tucker was named the tournament s MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by Kammron Taylor.
