The Yellow Jackets and Lady Owls will meet for the seventh time and Tech is seeking to improve to a perfect 7-0 mark against KSU and preserve its undefeated start to the season. Georgia Tech is coming off a win at Marquette on Saturday. The Jackets were led by sophomore Tyaunna Marshall, who tallied team-highs of 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the win over the Golden Eagles, becoming the first player to top the team in all three categories since Alex Montgomery did so against MTSU last season. KSU is coming off an home win over Jacksonville State on Saturday. The Lady Owls were led by junior Ashley Holliday with 23 points. Kristina Wells and Taylor Mills each added 17 while Sametria Gideon tossed in 14. Holliday, Mills and Wells each played all 40 minutes while Lisa Capellan was on the court for 36 minutes. The Jackets were led by Chelsea Regins who tied her career-high with 15 points, and by Alex Montgomery with 11 rebounds. Tech responded in a big way after a close loss in its first road game of the season on Sunday at Old Dominion. The Jackets jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never trailed, and built the lead as large as 28 late in the second half. The Jackets improve to 6-0 all-time against in-state rival Kennesaw State. Fast break points heavily favored the home team, with Tech scoring 17 points to the Owls 0. Tech passed the ball well also, accumulating 21 assists. True freshman Ty Marshall, the Co-Rookie of the Week for last week, scored 12 points. She has reached double digits in every game so far this season and leads the team in scoring. Junior center LaQuananisha Adams set a career-high in rebounds with eight and tied a career-best with 12 points. Freshman Frida Fogdemark scored the first points of her career, knocking in a 3-pointer and following that up with two free throws. Kennesaw State was led by junior guard Angie Smith, who scored 22 points, and added 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 32 minutes of play. Coaching Barefoot: Georgia Tech head coach MaChelle Joseph joined Marquette head coach Terri Mitchell in coaching barefoot to benefit Soles for Jesus, a non-profit organization which provides new and gently used shoes to people in impoverished areas in Africa. International Activity: Gortnar was not the only Yellow Jacket active in international play over the summer. Junior Danielle Hamilton-Carter played for Sweden in the World University Games in China. The Swedes advanced to the semifinals and were the highest finishing European team. Sophomore Frida Fogdemark also played for Sweden in the FIBA U20 European Championships in Macedonia.
