Friday against Western Michigan, she did not allow the Broncos to take a shot in the two overtime periods. Other Notable Performances: Shelby Koch (LUC); Katie Sullivan (INS); Ashley Tallerine (MSU) MVC Goalkeeper Player of the Week Maddie Ford, So., GK, Loyola Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Ford has continued to shine for Loyola as the Ramblers prepare to begin Valley play on Saturday. Ford, out of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., recorded her fourth shutout of non-conference play on Thursday night against No. 21 DePaul. She made four saves, including a pair during the game s second overtime, as the Ramblers became only the second team to hold a high-powered Blue Demon attack scoreless this season. 2 NOTEWORTHY In addition to the league s player and newcomer of the week selections, several conference players had notable performances, and they include: Lauren Koehl (ILS)- Lauren Koehl took only one of the 40 shots taken in Sunday s match between Illinois State and Central Michigan. Her lone shot would seal the deal for the Redbirds as she scored the game-winning goal in the 105th minute. It was Koehl s second game-winning goal this season and gave ISU its third win. In addition to her Sunday heroics, Koehl took two shots and one on goal Friday at Western Michigan. Avalon Senn-Raemont (ILS)- Sophomore Avalon Senn- Raemont returned to action for the Ramblers last week and wasted little time in making her presence felt. After logging 56 minutes in Loyola s 0-0 double-overtime draw with No. 21 DePaul on Thursday night, the McHenry, Ill. product opened the account for the Maroon & Gold in Sunday s tilt with former league foe Milwaukee. Senn-Raemont cashed in off of a Shelby Koch corner kick in the eighth minute for her first goal of the season, heading her attempt in at the far post, as the Ramblers went on to defeat the Panthers by a final count of 3-2. The sophomore finished the day with a team-high five shots, three of which were on target. Brooke Prondzinski (MSU)- Prondzinski recorded a brace, accounting for all of the scoring in MSU s 2-0 win over Western Illinois on Sunday. It was her first career multi-goal match and gives her three tallies on the season thus far. On Sunday, she had a game-high five shots, placing all five on frame including her two goals. In Friday s match at SIU Edwardsville, she added three shots, all on goal as well. Her weekend performance upped her league-leading shot total to 34 and improved her point total to 10, a top-5 figure in the MVC. Shelby Koch (LUC)- Junior Shelby Koch scored the first gamewinning goal of her career in Loyola s 3-2 win over Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon. Koch, who played all 90 minutes against the Panthers and tallied three shots on target, tying for the team lead in the category, unleashed a curling blast from just outside the top of the arc in the 67th minute that bested Milwaukee goalkeeper Paige Lincicum in what would prove to be the game s deciding strike. The Mill Creek, Wash. native also played 81 minutes three days earlier against No. 21 DePaul, notching a shot on goal as the Ramblers held their city rival to a scoreless draw. 3 DRAKE (3-6, 0-0 MVC) Put In Tough Spot In Drake s lone game this past week the Bulldogs were plagued by their Achilles heel all season as they yielded an early goal to the Cyclones and had to play catch up. In the Bulldogs six losses this season they have allowed the opponent to score first in every game. Drake had played four games in four different states over two weeks before the Bulldogs returned to Cownie to face the Cyclones Rivalry Renewed Drake has a quick turnaround this week as the Bulldogs welcome former Missouri Valley Conference rival, Creighton, Tuesday night to Cownie Soccer Complex. (3-5-2, 0-0 MVC) Extra Soccer Illinois State went into double overtime in both games this weekend. The Redbirds played to a 1-1 draw Friday at Western Michigan and defeated Central Michigan 1-0 Sunday. ISU has gone to double overtime three times this season and all three have been against the directional Michigan schools (Eastern Michigan Sept. 4). ISU is in those matches. Koehl Plays Hero Once Again Lauren Koehl came up big again for ISU with the game-winning goal in the 105th minute Sunday against Central Michigan. The two teams combined for 40 shots in the match, but Koehl s winner was her only shot of the game. It s her second gamewinning goal this season after she scored the lone goal in ISU s win over Wisconsin. Niestrom Sets Career High Vanessa Niestrom was back in the net for the Redbirds and allowed just one goal in 215 minutes of action. She also played a vital role in ISU s third goal of the afternoon. In the 31st minute, Lovelace made Sycamore Soccer history, scoring her third goal of the match. Lovelace assisted the third goal in the match for her to give her seven offensive points in the match, setting a record for most offensive points in a match in school history. Dominating Defense Indiana State s defense held the Chicago State Cougars to only five shots in the contest which resulted in a 6-0 Sycamore victory. It s the second shutout of the 2015 season earned by the ISU defense. The five shots are the least allowed by ISU in a match since Sept. 14, 2014 when the Sycamores held Chicago State to three shots. The Sycamores look to keep the defense rolling as they will be hosting IUPUI on Friday, Sept. 25th at Memorial Stadium. Unexpected Rest Sycamore Soccer got an unexpected break this past weekend. After defeating Chicago State on Friday afternoon, Indiana State was scheduled to play Valparaiso in Valparaiso on Sunday, Sept. 20th.
