The Panthers, however, rebounded from their loss to Lehigh with an win over No. 17 Illinois at the Sprawl & Brawl Duals. Pitt is led by sophomore Tyler Nauman, who is ranked 18th by InterMat at 141 and has enjoyed a nearly perfect season entering the weekend with a 22-3 record. Nauman is also perfect in dual matches with a 10-0 mark. Also having an outstanding year for Pitt are junior heavyweight Ryan Tomei with a 22-4 record on the season and freshman Anthony Zanetta at 24-7 in the 125 weight class. Pitt vs. Lock Haven Lock Haven enters the weekend with a 1-3 record on the season including a 36-9 win over Millersville in their last outing, also their first win of the season. The match with Pitt marks the first EWL match for the Bald Eagles as well. Lock Haven is led by first year head coach Robbie Waller, who came to the Bald Eagles program just prior to the start of the season. Waller is a Latrobe, Pa., native and a graduate of Oklahoma where he was the 2003 national champion. Series History The Panthers lead the all-time series The series dates back to the season where Pitt fell in the first meeting, Last season, Pitt defeated the Bald Eagles by a score of 30-9 on the road and has now won six out of the last seven meetings between the schools. Pitt vs. Bloomsburg Bloomsburg enters the weekend with an 8-4 record on the year after dropping two at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. The Huskies lost to No. 2 Iowa State, 38-7, and to Northern Iowa. Bloomsburg is led by two-time All-American Matt Moley at 157. Pitt and Bloomsburg have had numerous common opponents this season to date including Penn State, Columbia and Sacred Heart. The Huskies are 2-1 against the three teams (loss at Penn State), while the Panthers are (tie to Penn State). Series History Pitt leads the tightly-contested series between the two schools, 17-16, including a 27-7 win last season at Fitzgerald Field House. The first meeting resulted in a Panther victory in the season.

2 Rankings Respect In the latest InterMat poll, Pitt holds the following individual rankings: #18 Tyler Nauman #20 Matt Wilps #6 Ryan Tomei Pin Party Pitt has recorded 42 pins this season. Heavyweight Ryan Tomei leads the team with eight, while Tyler Nauman (141) is second with seven. Pins Pins Pins Pins by Starters Wt. Nauman has climbed into a tie for seventh on the list with seven falls this season and a total of 25. Last year, Nauman won over a third of his matches by fall, finishing the year with 11 the seventh most in a single season by a Pitt wrestler. Rookie Review... Freshman Anthony Zanetta is approaching the top 10 for wins by a freshman, as he currently holds a 23-7 mark on the season. Zanetta needs just four wins to take over 10th place. Wrestling at 125, his 23 wins are the most on the squad. Stottlemyer helped guide four wrestlers to the NCAA Tournament last season, with three of those returning in Open Success After a successful appearance at the Buffalo Open, the Panthers continued to make a mark at the Penn State Open on Dec. 6, where heavyweight Ryan Tomei (285) claimed a second place finish and five others placed. Anthony Zanetta (125) and Tyler Nauman (141) both captured fifth place finishes while in State College after falling to the consolation bracket. After winning his first two matches of the day, Zanetta captured his fifth place finish with a marginal 9-8 decision over Matthew Snyder of Virginia. Nauman entered the open with a previously undefeated record, falling to Penn State s Colby Pisanni, 9-3, in his third match of the day. Mark Powell (157) completed the day with a 6-2 record to clinch a seventh place finish after a 3-0 decision over Bucknell s Corey Lear. Ethan Headlee (174) wrestled unattached and finished sixth following a 14-6 major decision over Navy s Michael Billings. At 197, sophomore Matt Wilps captured a fourth place finish at the Penn State Open when he tallied a 10-1 major decision over former Panther A.J. Brentzel of Pitt-Johnstown. Ryan Tomei continued to make his presence known when he claimed the Panthers best place of the day, finishing second in the heavyweight class. Tomei accrued four consecutive wins before appearing in the championship round where he fell to thirdranked Zachery Rey of Lehigh with a 3-2 decision. 197 Battle At 197 this season, head coach Rande Stottlemyer has a good problem on his hands. Stottlemyer has two successful wrestlers available for the lineup as Matt Wilps holds a 22-7 record on the year and A.J. Hunte has challenged all season with an 10-6 record. In the Clarion Open, Hunte earned a second place finish with a 3-1 mark. He s Back! Former Pitt wrestler Matt Kocher is back with the Panther program. This time, as an assistant coach. Kocher joined the Pitt staff this summer and has been an invaluable addition to the squad. While at Pitt, Kocher was a four-time NCAA qualifier and currently sits at second on the all-time wins list in Pitt history at Oh Brother... Pitt currently has two sets of brothers on the squad including sophomore Chris Albright and his brother, redshirt senior Eric Albright; as well as freshman P.J. Tasser and his brother, redshirt freshman Donnie Tasser. In addition, in Pitt s signing class, two more sets of brothers are set to join the squad. Sophomore Zac Thomusseit s brother Max signed a letter of intent with the Panthers, as well as Matt Wilps brother Tyler. Stottlemyer s 30-Year Stint Pitt head coach Rande Stottlemyer is in his 31st season at the helm of the Panther program. In his 31st season, Stottlemyer is the winningest coach in Pitt history, recording a record, including a mark last season and this season in dual action.

4 Pitt Pounces Eagles, Remains Perfect in EWL January 15, 2009 Lock Haven, Pa. last meeting vs lock haven LOCK HAVEN, Pa. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead after three matches, the University of Pittsburgh wrestling team cruised to victory in its second Eastern Wrestling League match of the year, defeating Lock Haven University 30-9 here at Thomas Field House. The Panthers tallied four bonus-point wins on the night, led by sophomore Ethan Headlee s pin in the 165-pound match. After a forfeit in the 125 pound match, the Panthers (2-3, 2-0 EWL) built their lead with back-to-back major decisions from Jimmy Conroy and Ty Nauman. Conroy was an 8-0 winner at 133 over Billy Ashnault while Nauman upped his win total to 19 with a 14-5 win over Zach Kell in the 141-pound bout. Matt Fittery put Lock Haven (5-6-1, 0-1 EWL) on the board with a 6-1 decision over Mark Powell in the 149-pound match, but the Eagles would not gain anymore ground as Pitt went on to take the ensuing three matches. Phil Sorrentino was a 2-1 winner by decision over Ollie Cooperwood at 157, bringing the score to 17-3 in favor of the Blue and Gold. Headlee kept pace with Nauman, earning his 19th win of the year by pinfall, also tying him for the team lead in falls this season with seven. David Sullivan s 11-3 major decision over Travis Stem pushed Pitt s lead to 27-3, the largest lead of the night. Back-to-back decisions at 184 and 197 for Lock Haven closed the gap, but the damage was already done. A.J. Hunte finished off the night with a 3-2 win over Gabe Murtoff in the heavyweight match. Hunte recorded his first dual win of the season after wrestling up a class from his usual 197-pound slot. Eight Panthers Win in 27-7 Domination November 19, 2009 Pittsburgh, Pa. last meeting vs bloomsburg PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team opened conference action at the Fitzgerald Field House tonight, Nov. 19, defeating Eastern Wrestling League rival Bloomsburg The Panthers won eight of ten matches including the first four to coast to their first victory of the season. We won eight of ten tonight, I think that s pretty good to say the least, noted Head Coach Rande Stottlemyer. I really felt like our guys went out and tried to control the match from the start. Being able to win a conference match in our league this early in the season is always a great thing. True freshman Chris Albright sparked Pitt (1-1, 1-0) in the opening match of the night at 125 pounds. Down 8-6 to Ian Moser entering the third period, Albright was able to draw two stalling points from Moser to knot the score with 10 seconds remaining. He was then able to hold off Moser s late takedown attempts to secure the 9-8 win after accumulating over a minute of riding time, giving Pitt the early 3-0 lead. You know, we re always looking for improvement and for Chris to come out tonight and win after being majored two weeks ago by Moser, that shows that our guys are improving on a daily basis, said Stottlemyer of his 125-pounder. Junior Jimmy Conroy, ranked 20th in the latest USA Today/Intermat/NWCA poll, put Pitt up 6-0 with his 4-1 decision over Jason Guffey in the 133-pound match. Conroy cruised after a late first-period takedown, yielding only an escape point to Guffey en route to his first dual win this season. Tyler Nauman made it three straight for the Panthers with his 10-3 decision over Rockey Donald at 141. The redshirt freshman jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the first period and continued to pour it on en route to his second straight dual win. Senior transfer Mark Powell gave Pitt a 12-0 advantage with his 4-0 shutout decision over George Hickman. After a scoreless first and second period which say Powell accumulate two minutes of riding time, he escaped eight seconds into the third to take the 1-0 lead. Powell added a takedown late in the third for good measure and tacked on a riding time point to even his dual record at 1-1. Bloomsburg s lone wins came by way of a major decision at 157 and decision at 165. No. 11 ranked Matt Moley downed junior Jeff Warusz 12-2 in the 157-pound match while Ricky Schmelyn was an 8-2 winner over sophomore Ethan Headlee at 165. Redshirt junior David Sullivan and freshman Zac Thomusseit quickly put the Panthers back on track with wins in the 174 and 184-pound matches respectively. Sullivan accumulated over two minutes of riding time on his way to earning the 4-1 decision while Thomusseit s early third-period escape proved to be the difference in the 3-2 decision. Matt Wilps was the third freshman of the night to earn a victory. After trading escapes in the second and third periods, Wilps and Ryan Sutton entered overtime tied at seconds into the extra frame, Wilps carded his first collegiate pin and dual match victory, putting Pitt up It was business as usual for the No. 7 ranked heavyweight in the country on the mat tonight. Less than 20 seconds into the first period Zach Sheaffer struck with a two-point takedown on Zac Walsh. Two takedowns and an escape later, Sheaffer had racked up over four minutes of riding time, taking the 8-3 decision for his second win on the year. Zach is always fun to watch because he is technically sound, said Stottlemyer. He does some things that most heavyweights just don t do and we are fortunate to have a leader of his caliber on our team, setting the example for the younger guys.
