The game is available online by subscription at THE LAST TIME OUT: Jerri Penley recorded a career-high 16 points and nine rebounds as North Dakota State defeated host Montana State in the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic championship game Nov. 25, before a crowd of 987 at the Worthington Arena. The Bison broke a 14-game losing streak on the road. NDSU s last road win was at Montana State-Billings on Feb. 12, Penley led a group of three players in double-figures. Classic MVP Lisa Bue scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists against the Bobcats (2-3). Bue and Penley were joined on the alltournament team by junior Brenda Slyt, who dropped in 15 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the field. The Bison had to fend off a furious rally by Montana State sparked by Rebecca Mercer and Alyssa Nelson. Nelson s steal and layup cut the NDSU lead to with 7:28 remaining. Mercer dropped in a game-high 18 points, while Nubia Garcia and Nelson each netted 14. However, it was Bue, Penley and Slyt who sparked an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to pull away. Katie Dahlen found Jenna Lemnus inside to put the Bison ahead with 2:23 left. North Dakota State connected on six straight free throws in final 52 seconds. Kayla Dahlen sank four, Bue hit two. Dahlen extended her consecutive free throws made streak to 13 dating back to last season. The Bison hit 19 of 22 free throws overall and 39 of 45 for the tournament. Individually, Lisa Bue was No. 2 in three-point field goal shooting (.556, 5-9) and No. 7 in scoring (14.3 ppg); Kayla Dahlen was No. 1 in free throw shooting (1.000, 11-11); Jerri Penley was No. 1 in field goal shooting (.643, 18-28), No. 2 in blocked shots (2.00 bpg) and No. 7 in rebounding (6.8 rpg); Katie Dahlen was No. 8 in assists (3.25 apg) and Ali Sonstelie was tied for No. 8 in free throw shooting (.800, 8-10). NDSU COMPETES AGAINST NATIONALLY-RANKED, NCAA TOUR- NAMENT AND WNIT TEAMS: North Dakota State was 0-2 against Division I teams ranked in the Top 25 during the season... The Bison compiled a 1-2 record against NCAA tournament teams (Middle Tennessee State, W 65-58; New Mexico, L 59-75; Minnesota, L 70-79), and 0-2 record against WNIT teams (Idaho State, L 69-81; UW-Green Bay, L 70-81)... In addition, Idaho State won the Big Sky Conference regular season title. THE RULEY FILE: Amy Ruley is in her 28th year as head coach of the Bison. Ruley has compiled a record of , good for a.782 winning percentage... Ruley was named as the head coach on the NCAA Division II Women s Basketball 25th Anniversary team... NDSU s fourth straight NCAA title in 1996 was selected as one of the 25 Defining Moments in NCAA History...
