1 Basketball (Boys) AIA Initial Division Placements , Appeal Deadline Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. The following pages show the initial division placements. To get an understanding of how the teams were initially placed, please read the following: 1. Schools are divided equally based on enrollment into divisions 2. The formula is also used to divide schools equally based on the results of the formula 3. The two are then compared and a school s initial division placement is based on taking one step in the direction of the formula based division from the enrollment based division a. Example 1: If a school is placed in D III based on enrollment, and the formula places the school in D I, the school is moved one up to D II b. Example 2: If a school is placed in D I based on enrollment, and the formula places the school in D III, the school is moved one down to D II The following is the definition of the header rows: 1. Initial div: The initial division placement for a school (sorted from highest to lowest division) 2. Activity_name: the name of the sport 3. Name: the school s name (alpha sorted within initial division placement) 4. Enrollment: the school s enrollment number as of Oct. 1, f/r #: the school s free and reduced lunch number based on 2013 reported numbers 6. MP median rating: the school s MaxPreps.com median rating over the last six years 7. Enrollment div: the school s enrollment based division 8. Enrollment rank: the school s rank in enrollment compared to all schools 9. Formula div: the school s formula based division 10.
