Stewart is the eighth different Husky to earn the Academic All-District honors as those eight players have won a total of 16 Academic All-District nods. The North Syracuse, N.Y. native is now eligible to be named as a member of the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which is expected to be released in mid-march. 20th Anniversary of the Champs! Today, the Huskies will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the national championship team by honoring several players and coaches from that squad, which helped UConn capture its first national championship. All the players and coaches in attendance will be honored at halftime of the Tulane game. Stewart, who won the Naismith Trophy last year, and Mosqueda-Lewis have been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top-20 List. Stokes Notches Triple-Double vs. ECU Senior center Kiah Stokes scored 10 points on 5-6 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. The triple-double was the fourth in UConn history and the third in the last two seasons. Laura Lishness posted a tripledouble in 1989 and that stood as the only tripledouble in UConn history until Stefanie Dolson and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis accomplished the feat last year. Stokes 10 blocks were also a single-game school record. Huskies Improve in #1 vs. #2 Games With the win over No. 1 South Carolina on 2/9, UConn improved to 17-3 all-time in games pitting the top two teams in the Associated Press top-25 poll against one another. UConn is 12-2 all-time when playing as the No. 1 team in such games. The Huskies improved to 5-1 in No. 1 vs. No. 2 games when playing as the country s second-ranked team. UConn is all-time when playing as the nation s top-ranked team. In games she has started, Nurse has scored less than 10 points only four times and is averaging 11.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 52.8 percent and dishing-out 77 assists against only 39 turnovers. 6 Moriah Busts Out Of Mini Funk Junior point guard Moriah Jefferson has been back to her old self over the last 15 games averaging 13.2 points per game on 64.4 percent (78-123) shooting to go along with 4.5 assists (67 assists and 17 turnovers) and 2.7 steals per contest. She is also a scorching from beyond the 3-point arc. Her outstanding stretch includes a career-high 24 points against SMU on December 27. Over the previous three games (12/6-12/21), Jefferson averaged 3.7 points, and shot just 20.8 percent (5-24) from the field, including 1-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. Gabby Has Been All the Talk Lately Freshman forward Gabby Williams has been a solid reserve for the Huskies this year but she has taken her play to another level of late. Over the last SEVEN games, the Sparks, Nevada native is averaging 11.1 points on 68.0 percent shooting to go along with 7.0 rebounds and 12 assists against only five turnovers. Williams is the first UConn freshman to post consecutive double-doubles since Maya Moore did it twice during the season. She is a THREE-TIME AAC Rookie of the Week. Tuck on a Run Redshirt sophomore Morgan Tuck has been solid all season long but has been especially effective over the last 18 games. Over those contests, Tuck is averaging 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds and is shooting a team-best 61.7 percent from the floor in only 25.1 minutes per contest. She has scored at least 20 points FOUR times over that span, including a 20-point first-half performance against Temple on 1/14. Tuck ranks 10th nationally in field goal percentage. All-Time vs. Ranked Foes Connecticut has an all-time record of (.779) versus Top-25 AP ranked teams. UConn is all-time on the road against ranked opponents and in road games against ranked teams since Huskies Avoid Back-To-Back Losses The Huskies have not lost back-to-back games since the season. The last time UConn dropped consecutive games was during the season when they lost against Providence (3/7/93) and Louisville (3/17/93). Connecticut has gone 796 games without back-to-back defeats. The Huskies are 57-0 following a loss during the streak. Auriemma Overtakes Barmore as All-Time Winning Percentage Leader With the win over SMU on 12/27, Geno Auriemma s winning percentage moved from to to overtake former Louisiana Tech coach Leon Barmore s all-time mark. Leads Country in Three-Point FG Percentage Preseason AP All-America selection Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis tied Maya Moore s school record by connecting on 10 three-point field goals against UC Davis on November 14. Mosqueda- Lewis record-tying 10 long-balls came on only 13 attempts and marked the second time she scored at least 30 points. As a team, UConn connected on a single-game record-tying 18 three-point field goals against the Aggies. Mosqueda-Lewis was forced to sit out of the Creighton game due to flu-like symptoms. Mosqueda-Lewis enters today s game LEADING the country in three-point field goal percentage at 51.8 percent. 47-Game Winning Streak Snapped The loss to Stanford on November 17 snapped UConn s 46-game winning streak, which was the third-longest in school history. The Huskies current winning streak is /16/08-12/30/ /9/01-3/11/ /23/13-11/17/ /26/94-4/2/ /17/96-3/22/ /5/00-1/13/ /5/11-3/29/ /23/14-PRESENT 21 1/9/94 3/24/ /11/07-2/5/ /18/95-3/25/95 Kaleena Sets New UConn 3FG Made Mark Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis made her recordsetting 319th 3-point field goal on 1/11 at SMU to surpass Diana Taurasi s previous mark of 318 made 3-point field goals. She is SECOND all-time in 3-point field goal percentage and is on pace to put together one of the most prolific three-point shooting single-seasoon in school history. The season saw the Huskies advance to their 11th Final Four and also marked the 10th time in the last 11 years that UConn has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final. The team put together its second-straight 39-0 season and enters the campaign on a record 78-game winning streak. The Huskies also swept the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament crowns for the third year in a row. Tina Charles and Maya Moore each earned All-America status with Charles winning the Wooden and Naismith Awards and being named Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Moore was honored with the Wade Trophy for the second-straight year by the Women s Basketball Coaches Association. Connecticut made even more history in , as it became the first NCAA Division I basketball team (men s or women s) to go undefeated and beat each of its opponents by at least a 10-point margin. The season saw UConn advance to its ninth NCAA Final Four and also marked the ninth time in the last 10 years overall that Connecticut has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final. Connecticut had three players earn first-team All-America status in as Renee Montgomery, Tina Charles and Maya Moore were each honored. Moore was also selected as the consensus national player of the year. As a freshman in , Moore became the second straight Connecticut player to be recognized as the National Freshman of the Year and also was selected as the first ever freshman recipient (male or female) of the BIG EAST Player of the Year award. Tina Charles was honored in The campaign saw the Huskies post a perfect 16-0 record in conference play - marking the sixth time that UConn posted an unblemished BIG EAST record under Auriemma. The season was a historical one - even for the traditionrich Connecticut program - as it became only the second program in NCAA history to win three consecutive national titles. The road to their third straight title was a bumpy one at times for the Huskies, but with Auriemma s leadership the team never wavered from achieving their ultimate goal, despite encountering a few detours along the way. In , the Huskies tied the NCAA-record for consecutive home court wins at 69 straight games and won the BIG EAST Regular Season Title for the 11th consecutive season. Senior standout Diana Taurasi was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four for the second straight year and was also honored as the Naismith National Player of the Year for the second time in her career, in addition to being the recipient of the Honda Award and the Nancy Lieberman Award. The season, despite an influx of new faces, mirrored Auriemma s teams of the past. The squad continued the program s winning tradition by bringing home UConn s fourth women s basketball national championship and also broke the NCAA Division I women s record for most consecutive victories with 70-straight. Connecticut shattered the previous mark of 54 set by Louisiana Tech with its 55th-straight win on January 18, 2003, versus Georgetown in the Hartford Civic Center. For the fourth time in UConn history, the Huskies finished the regular season undefeated with a perfect 29-0 record. They went on to capture UConn s 10th straight BIG EAST regular season title and continued their winning ways into the postseason, making their seventh Final Four appearance. After two competitive games in the Final Four, the Huskies earned their fourth NCAA Women s Basketball Championship and became only the third school to do so in back-to-back years. Junior Diana Taurasi was named the 2003 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, while freshman Ann Strother was named to the Final Four All-Tournament team. It was the first time in women s or men s basketball history that a program earned the national championship without a senior on its roster. Accolades for the season continued to pour in. Auriemma was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year as well as the United States Basketball Writer s Association (USBWA) Women s Basketball Coach of the Year and Associated Press Coach of the Year. Taurasi garnered Player of the Year honors from the Associated Press, USB-

13 WA and Naismith and earned the Wade Trophy and the NCAA Honda Award for the nation s most outstanding women s basketball player. Taurasi earned her second straight Kodak All-America award and was named Associated Press First Team All-America for her outstanding play and leadership during UConn s 37-1 run through the championship season. Auriemma s squad recorded the second undefeated season in program history with a 39-0 mark and registered UConn s third national championship and sixth Final Four appearance. Auriemma s teams also won the 1995 and 2000 national titles. Featuring Kodak All-Americans Sue Bird, Swin Cash and Diana Taurasi, the Huskies posted an NCAA record-tying 39 wins and a 35.4 average margin of victory, another NCAA record. His team also earned its 12th BIG EAST regular season title and 11th BIG EAST tournament crown as the Huskies made their 14th consecutive NCAA appearance. The national championship season included a thenschool-record 19-straight weeks ranked No. 1 in the national polls and a final record of UConn captured the program s first national title in , when Auriemma led the Huskies to a perfect 35-0 record. UConn was only the second team in Division I women s basketball history to go undefeated en route to the national championship. The Huskies became the first unbeaten team in NCAA history (all divisions, men or women) to win 35 games in a season. Under Auriemma s direction, UConn ranked second nationally in Division I victories in the 1990 s (Jan. 1, 1990-Dec. 31, 1999) with 290 total wins. The Huskies were also second in the nation in total winning percentage (.860) in the decade as well as establishing a BIG EAST record for conference victories (158). After inheriting a Husky program that had just one winning season in its 11-year history, Auriemma has posted 23 winning seasons since arriving at UConn in August of The Huskies also hold every BIG EAST single-game and single-season home-court attendance record. Since , the first season the Huskies earned a BIG EAST regular season championship, UConn ranks No. 1 among all BIG EAST teams in league regular season wins (321-30, a.915 winning percentage). Coupled with UConn s 55-6 (.902) record in BIG EAST Tournament action since The development of national caliber student-athletes has been Auriemma s forte during his UConn coaching tenure. Every recruited freshman that has played for Auriemma at Connecticut and completed her eligibility at UConn has obtained her undergraduate degree. Impressively, since the season, 40 of UConn s starters - 25 different players - have been on the Dean s List. Among these 25 players are four of the most highly acclaimed women s basketball players ever - Rebecca Lobo, Jennifer Rizzotti, Kara Wolters and Sue Bird. All four of these student-athletes earned Associated Press National Player of the Year honors and won the Wade Trophy and Honda Broderick Awards. Auriemma has coached 16 First Team WBCA/State Farm All-Americans, with the most recent selections of Stefanie Dolson and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis in This includes 11 consecutive seasons ( ) where at least one UConn player earned Kodak/State Farm All-America honors. UConn s home court record also stands as one of the most impressive in the nation. In Auriemma s tenure, UConn is at home against collegiate opponents, including a record 99-game winning streak from By building such a dynamic program, Huskymania fan support and enthusiasm is at an all-time high. UConn was second nationally in total home attendance for all Division I women s programs in , attracting 203,648 fans for 20 home dates in Harry A. Gampel Pavilion and the XL Center. The Huskies have sold out 122 home games since Prior to taking the UConn position, Auriemma served as the primary assistant women s coach at the University of Virginia under head coach Debbie Ryan from He helped lead the Cavaliers to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship in Before his Virginia position, Auriemma was assistant women s basketball coach at St. Joseph s University in Philadelphia with thenhead coach Jim Foster (now Ohio State women s basketball head coach). He also coached boys basketball at his high school alma mater, Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown, Pa., from Auriemma has found success even beyond the college coaching ranks due to his involvement with USA Basketball. In the summer of 2000, Auriemma represented the United States at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, as an assistant coach of the gold medal winning Olympic Team. That same summer, Auriemma led the 2000 USA Junior World Championship team to a gold medal in the COPABA Junior World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Argentina. Auriemma and the squad advanced to the 2001 FIBA Junior World Championship for women held in the Czech Republic in July of 2001, and returned with the bronze. In April of 1996, he was co-head coach of the National Senior All-Stars when the All-Stars met the United States National Team. During the summer of 1996, he served as coach of the USA Basketball Select Team in Colorado Springs, Colo. In January of 1995, Auriemma was named an assistant coach of the USA World University Games Women s Basketball Team, which played in Fukuoka, Japan, in the summer of 1995; due to personal conflicts, however, he had to relinquish that position. He also served as head coach of the West Team at the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio, Texas. In the summer of 2002, Auriemma was selected as a member of the inaugural induction class to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame and he was enshrined in the Italian-American Hall of Fame in November In addition to his coaching duties, Auriemma serves on several national basketball committees. He was a four-year member of the Kodak All-America Selection Committee and was named chair of that committee in January of He has also been a voting member of

14 the USA TODAY/WBCA Top 25 Poll. He was recently named to the Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Board of Directors and served as the organization s president from Auriemma has also worked as an analyst during ABC s and ESPN s coverage of the WNBA in recent seasons. An accomplished speaker, Auriemma also is involved in numerous regional and state charitable and educational efforts. Auriemma also is affiliated with The V Foundation for Cancer Research. In 1993 The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and Jim Valvano. It has raised more than $60 million and awarded cancer research grants in 37 states and the District of Columbia. In the fall of 1993, Auriemma was elected into the National Mortar Board academic honor society for his outstanding contributions to UConn academics and for community service. He was one of four recipients of the 1995 Center for the Study of Sport in Society National Student-Athlete Day Giant Steps Award, presented in Boston. He was also honored with Geno Auriemma Day at the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., on August 9, Auriemma has given back to the university as well. In November 1998, he and his wife Kathy gave a $125,000 gift to the University of Connecticut Library. Auriemma is a 1981 graduate of West Chester with a B.A. in political science. He resides in Manchester, Conn., with Kathy and has three children and two grandchildren Christian, born August 2010 and Andrew, born May Kathy and Geno Auriemma made the initial donation of $80,000 to the Sandy Hook School Memorial Scholarship Fund to set up endowed scholarships for those affected by the tragedy in Newtown. Auriemma served as co-chair of the Connecticut Arthritis Foundation. In May of 1994, Auriemma was awarded the prestigious UConn Club Outstanding Contribution Award for his service and commitment to Husky athletics.
