McNeese head coach Dave Simmons is 4-5 against UNO in his career. Simmons won his first three contests against UNO, but dropped the last three. The Cowboys have not won on the road in New Orleans since 2014, when they defeated the Privateers The overtime match eariler this season has been the only for McNeese so far. Despite being 2nd in the league in rebounds, the Cowboys have been outrebounded in 6 of the last 8 games. This season, McNeese has outscored opponents by 17 points in the first half, but have been outscored by 36 in the second half. McNeese led at the half in three of its five SLC losses. Greenwood earned 39 assists in SLC play alone, ranking him 8th amongst SLC opponents. JAMES HARVEY Harvey is third on the team with 11.2 points per game. Shooting a team best, 39% from the arc (45-116) - ranking him 90th in the NCAA. In conference, he is 26th in overall scoring, 15th in SLC games only (14.7 ppg); only 228 points from the 1,000 pt club. 2nd in the SLC with 23 3FG made during conference play, averaing 2.9 per game. Harvey went a bit off his rocker, scoring a total 15 points over the last three games- including a no-point showing in 30

3 MCNEESE BASKETBALL LAST TIME OUT WIN ON THE ROAD MCN 76 - UCA 72 Senior LaBarrius Hill would pull down an offensive rebound, send it back out to Jarren Greenwood, who would pass to Kalob Ledoux, eventually sending it in for a long three, giving the McNeese Cowboys the leverage needed to put Central Arkansas away in Conway on Wednesday night. McNeese led the entire game, building as much as an 18-point lead, coming after a layup by sophomore Jacob Ledoux mid-way through the second half. The first half weighed heavily in favor of the Cowboys, who were able to outscore the Bears A team that is usually fire from long-range, UCA only completed one of 13 attempts from the arc in the first 20 minutes (7.7%). Overall, Central Arkansas made only 17.9% of its shots from three-point territory, a season low for the Bears, who lead the league in 3-point field goal percentage. UCA s Jordan Howard entered the contest ranking 3rd in the nation for scoring, averaging 25.8 points per game, and the Cowboys held him to only 14 points, giving up only six baskets in Howard 19 field goal attempts. At the peak of its lead, McNeese fell into a scoring drought, as UCA went put up 11 unanswered points, in a stretch of game that lasted eight minutes, the Bears outscore the Cowboys With only three minutes left on the clock, Kalob Ledoux and Greenwood added three more baskets to give McNeese the security it needed to close out the win. Four Cowboys finished in the double-digits tonight, led by James Harvey who finished the night with 17 points, going four for six from the arc. Behind Harvey was Kalob Ledoux with 16, Qutarrius Wilson with 12, and Greenwood with 10. Wilson pulled down one rebound short of his career high, with 16 boards. His aggressiveness on the glass helped McNeese outrebound UCA 46 to 44 in the contest. Together with his 16 rebounds and 12 points, Wilson earned his 11th double-double on the season. Greenwood finished with a career-high nine assists, beating his previous high of eight, that he earned versus SFA last week. Greenwood was only one assist shy of a double-double. McNeese gave the ball over only eight times in the victory, a record low for Central Arkansas opponents. The Cowboys only made seven free-throw baskets, a low for UCA opponents as well, but they weren t needed, as McNeese shot no less than 46% from the field the entire night. He recently tipped the top 100 in the NCAA for his performance at the charity stripe, coming in at 66 th, up 26 spots sinceplaying at Houston Baptist. Greenwood is only one of four Cowboys in McNeese history to shoot 100% from the line in game with 10 or more attempts. Greenwood helped lead McNeese in shooting 80% or better from the FT line in 11 contests. As a team, the Cowboys are shooting nearly 73% over ten SLC games, ranking them 4 th in the conference. Cowboys Moving Into the Record Books Returning stars James Harvey (JR) and Stephen Ugochukwu (SR) are making a point to leave their mark on McNeese during their career. Harvey is currenly in 5th place for 3-Pts made in a career (164), inching his way up the list in every contest. He is currently second on the team with 47 treys this year, shooting a solid 36% from long range. Ugochukwu is moving up the career rebound list, with 456 including his 102 boards this season. In the 1,000 points scored club, Harvey is joined by Jarren Greenwood (JR) in the running for 1,000 career points. Harvey currently has 778 points over 78 games, while Greenwood is just above him with 807 points in 75 games played. If Greenwood continues his pace of 12 ppg, he will reach club level in approximately 16 games. The Rebound Turnaround Currently ranking first in the SLC, McNeese is averaging 37.4 rebounds per game- an increase of 5.4 rpg from the season. The 61 rebounds posted by McNeese vs SUNO are tied in the SLC for game-high rebounds. The Cowboys have already outrebounded nine opponents in so far, surpassing the same feat last season. McNeese had a hefty 31 rebounds more than SUNO for the largest margin of the season, last year- the largest was only four. Double Down on Wilson The junior transfer from Mobile, Alabama is fitting in well in the blue and yellow- with eight double-double performances this year. Wilson has already surpassed last year s double-double leader (Stephen Ugochukwu, 6) and s leader Craig McFerrin, who finished the season with seven. Between the two, they have a combined 59 blocks; Hill ranks 4 th in the SLC (1.7 bpg) and Ugochukwu ranks 7th (1.5 bpg). On a national scale, Hill and Ugochukwu rank 75 th and 121 th respectively. As a team, the Cowboys are averaging 4.7 blocks per game, nearly two more than all opponents. McNeese put up a team high eight blocks twice this season, against UIW (12/28) and LMU (11/19). You Other Brothers Can t Deny Sophomores Kalob and Jacob Ledoux are twin brothers reigning from Lafayette Christian HS. The brothers are one of 31 sets of brothers in the NCAA, and one of seven sets of twins. The Ledoux brothers share the title of twin teammmates with Sean and Deion Rhea of Texas A&M-CC, who are also the youngest set of brothers in teh NCAA. Uniquely enough, Jacob and Kalob are the only set of brothers who play collegiate basketball in Louisiana. Joe Dumars - The Pride and Joy of McNeese Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Joe Dumar played his college days at McNeese ( ) and still holds the record for most career points scored (2,607) while averaging points in his career. He was a 4-time first team all-slc performer. Dumars and head coach Dave Simmons were both honored as part of the 1980 s Southland Conference All-Decade team. 6 MCNEESE BASKETBALL Dave Simmons Head Coach 12th year at McNeese (.455) 14th year Overall (.460) Now in his 12th season at the helm of the McNeese Cowboys basketball program, head coach Dave Simmons ranks as the second-longest tenured coach in school history, following only legendary head coach Ralph Ward who spent 19 seasons at the helm from Simmons will enter the season as the third-winningest coach in school history with 143 victories. He s 12 wins shy of tying Glenn Duhon for No. 2 on the list. This season will also mark his 18th with the McNeese basketball program overall as he was an assistant coach under Steve Welch in the late 80s and early 90s and was a part of the team that played in the program s first-ever NCAA Tournament. He was named the ninth head coach in McNeese basketball history on Aug. 9, 2006, and since then, he s led the Cowboys to a Southland Conference championship, two league tournament championship game appearances and two national postseason tournaments. He s the only coach in school history to take his teams to back-to-back postseason national tournaments NIT and 2012 CollegeInsider.com tourney. McNeese made back-to-back appearances in 2001 (NIT) and 2002 (NCAA), but under Ron Everhart and Tic Price. A native of DeRidder, Simmons was inducted into the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame (LABC) in 2007 after having a stellar playing career at Louisiana Tech from where he earned All-Southland Conference and NABC All-District honors. The Cowboys knocked on the 20-win door the following year where the 17-win season saw four games where the Cowboys came up short by four points or less. On Feb. 7, 2013, Simmons coached the Cowboys to a Southland Conference first when his team defeated Sam Houston State in overtime to mark the 300th conference win for the Cowboys the first team in league history to win 300 conference games. He won his 100th game as McNeese s head coach on March 9, 2013 after a double-overtime win at Nicholls in the regular season finale. Simmons was also on the staffs at Northwestern State and Louisiana Tech when those two teams won league titles and played in the NCAA tournament, and an assistant at Delta State when it played post season. During a 29-year career Simmons has coached more than 20 players who have gone on to play in the professional ranks including Karl Malone of Louisiana Tech and one of the top 50 all-time greatest players to have played in the NBA. As a player at Tech, he was the team captain and team MVP and in 1981, ranked 5th in the nation in free throw shooting (.890, 130 of 146), a Louisiana Tech school record with a minimum of 80 attempts, and a mark currently ranks No. 3 on the Southland Conference s single-season list.
