Catawba follows the usual guidelines for rolling admissions and, therefore, has no closing date for accepting applications. Applying early will ensure an early response from the college. In your application, you are asked to provide a wide variety of information relating to your academic and cocurricular background. This information is used to help determine your potential to profit from, as well as contribute to, the Catawba community. You must complete a minimum of 16 units of high school course work, 12 of which should be in academic subjects. The following college preparatory course work is strongly recommended: four units of English; three units of mathematics (Algebra I or above); three units of Laboratory Science; three units of Social Science; and two units of foreign language. Your admission to Catawba also will be evaluated by class rank, grade point average, SAT or ACT examination scores, and academic course selection. Arrangements for visits to the Catawba campus may be made by calling CATAWBA, or by writing the Office of Admissions, Catawba College, 2300 W. Innes Street, Salisbury, NC, The coaches are available by writing the Athletic Department or by telephone: Baseball (M) Jim Gantt Basketball (M) Jim Baker Basketball (W) Angie Morton Cross Country (M&W).. Blending liberal studies with career preparation, the college offers the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Education degrees. COLLEGE ORIENTATION Catawba officials want to do everything they can to help new students succeed, and that means more than making good grades. It means adjusting well. It means learning to live and work with others in an environment that is new. To ease the transition to college life, Catawba offers an orientation session before the opening of the fall term for all firsttime freshmen and transfer students. One of the primary strengths of the program is that students have contact with an advisor from the first day they arrive on campus. And that relationship continues in small, twice-weekly classes during the entire first semester. SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE The South Atlantic Conference is a group of nine church-related colleges of similar size and athletic philosophy. As an all-sports conference, the league has grown into one of the premier small-college athletic conference in the nation. The year was extremely special in that the conference became fully affiliated with the NCAA Division II and is now eligible for national championships opportunities in all of its 14 sponsored sports. NCAA DIVISION II The National Collegiate Athletic Association is the organization through which the nation s colleges and universities speak and act on athletic matters at the national level. It is a voluntary association of more than 1,000 institutions, conferences, organizations and individuals devoted to the sound administration of intercollegiate athletics.
