3 FIRST COLLEGE BASKETBALL GAME ON FORT HOOD Baylor and Hardin-Simmons will play the first-ever regular season college basketball game on Fort Hood. SCOTT Free tickets were distributed on Fort Hood to military members and their families, and no tickets were made publicly available for the game. Additional bleachers have been brought in to increase Abrams Gym s seating capacity to 2,000. UP NEXT Following the Hardin-Simmons game, Baylor travels to College Station to face No. 24/24 Texas A&M. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT Saturday on ESPNU. The Bears will be playing their third ranked opponent this season, with all three games at campus sites. BU lost at No. 25 Oregon on Nov. 16 and defeated No. 16 Vanderbilt at home on Dec. 6. Baylor has won six straight games in the Battle of the Brazos, including a win on Dec. 9 last season. HOLDING OPPONENTS UNDER 75 POINTS Baylor has gone 53 consecutive games without allowing 75 points, the nation s longest active streak. Prince is averaging 15.8 points per game during that 26-game stretch, including nine 20-point games. GATHERS SETS ANOTHER REBOUNDING RECORD Rico Gathers broke Brian Skinner s school record with his 916th career board in the Dec. 6 win vs. No. 13 Vandy. Gathers already held Baylor s single-season (394) and single-game (28) rebounding records, both set last season. Gathers now has 941 career rebounds, which ranks 10th on the Big 12 s career list. He needs 5 more to pass Texas Chris Mihm for 9th and 59 more to become the 8th Big 12 player to reach 1,000 career boards. Gathers has 29 career double-doubles, 2nd-most in Baylor history and 5 back of Skinner s school record of 34. Gathers and Prince are in a race to become Baylor s 29th player to reach 1,000 career points. Gathers needs 30 more points and Prince needs 92 more. The first one to reach 1,000 will be the 11th of the Scott Drew era. FREEMAN GROWING INTO STARTING ROLE Sophomore Al Freeman has moved into the starting shooting guard role after coming off the bench last year. Freeman has scored in double figures in 6 of 8 games this season after scoring 10+ points 7 times in 34 games last season. He also posted back-to-back 20-point games against Oregon and Jackson State.
