WCU holds a advantage in Cullowhee, North Carolina, but the Bulldogs are 1-1 there under Duggar Baucom. The Bulldogs last won in Cullowhee on Jan. 21, 2016, breaking a three-game winning streak by the Catamounts in Cullowhee and an eight-game winning streak overall in the series. SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA: Western Carolina enters Sunday with a overall record and a 7-10 league mark. The Catamounts are currently riding a five-game losing skid. Western Carolina is 7-4 at home. The Catamounts are currently scoring 67.5 points per game, secondlowest in the Southern Conference. In comparison, WCU s opponents are scoring 74.9 points per game. Deriece Parks is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game and he is playing a team-best 30.3 minutes per contest. Parks and Matt Halvorsen lead the team in 3-point shooting as Parks has 61 treys on the year while Halvorsen has chipped in 57 at a.335 clip. TOP FIVE NATIONALLY: The Citadel entered the week in the top-five nationally in six statistical categories. The Bulldogs are second in both 3-pointers attempted (933) and 3-point field goals made per game (11.8). The Dogs are also third in the nation in steals per game (10.0) and total steals (270) while sitting fourth in 3-pointers made (318) and turnovers forced per game (17.78). THE BULLDOGS NATIONALLY: The Bulldogs are also 16th in the nation in scoring average (84.2 points per game) and 24th in assists per game (16.9). NAJDAWI CLIMBING THE LADDER: With his 17 points Friday against Mercer, junior Zane Najdawi has now scored 1,163 points in his career, moving him up a spot into 20th all-time in program history. CLOSING IN ON 500: Najdawi s seven rebounds gives him 496 for his career. BLOCK PARTY FOR ZANE: Najdawi had three blocks Friday night against the Bears, marking the 40th time in his career that he has swatted away multiple shots in a game. It was also the 10th time this season he has accomplished the feat. FRIERSON FROM THREE: Friday night marked the 14th time this season and 23rd time in his career that junior Matt Frierson has converted at least four 3-pointers in a game as he had a game-high five. FRIERSON S STREAK CONTINUES: Frierson has now converted at least one 3-pointer in 35 consecutive games. FRIERSON SETTING A NEW BAR: Frierson s five 3-pointers Friday night against the Bears gives him 104 made treys on the year, setting the program record for threes made in a single season. FRIERSON CLIMBING THE RANKS: Frierson now has 210 career treys, moving him up a spot to sixth all-time for treys made in a career. FRANKIE CLIMBING THE RANKS: With his three assists Friday night, sophomore Frankie Johnson now has 122 assists on the year, a mark that moves him up to 10th all-time for assists in a single season. Johnson now has 243 career assists, which is tied for 14th in program history. HEAD-TO-HEAD: Tuesday night s win over ETSU broke a five-game winning streak in the head-to-head series by the Buccaneers. Prior to Tuesday night, the last Citadel win in the series came back on Feb. 26, The last time the Bulldogs had beaten ETSU in Johnson City was Jan. 24, BREAKING ETSU S STREAK: The Bulldog win in Johnson City on Tuesday, Feb. 20 broke an 11-game home winning streak for the Bucs. ETSU was also riding a 13-game home winning streak against SoCon opponents with the last home SoCon loss for the Bucs coming last season on Jan. 12, 2017 against UNCG. AGAINST THE BEST IN THE SOCON: With Tuesday night s win over ETSU, the Bulldogs have now beaten three of the top four teams in the Southern Conference at least once this season, including No. 1 ETSU, No. 3 Furman and No. 4 Wofford. ETSU ON PAPER: The Bucs entered the game first in the SoCon, fifth in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll and No. 58 in the RPI. DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS: With the two-point win, the Bulldogs have reached double-digit wins for the third time under head coach Duggar Baucom. It is the first time that The Citadel has had three consecutive seasons with double-digit wins since the stretch from the season to the season, but Baucom becomes the first coach since Pat Dennis ( , , ) to hit the 10-win mark in three consecutive seasons. COACH BAUCOM IN THE RECORD BOOKS: Baucom becomes just the fifth coach in program history to record double-digit wins in his first three seasons at the helm of the program, joining Benny Blatt ( ), Norm Sloan ( ), George Hill ( ) and Pat Dennis ( ) in the feat. NAJDAWI ECLIPSING 20: With his 24 points against the Bucs, junior Zane Najdawi has eclipsed the 20-point mark in 19 games in his career and nine games this season. He has led the Bulldogs in scoring in 13 games this season, including four of the last five and eight of the last 10. JUST CALL HIM TREYSON: Quayson Williams finished Tuesday s night contest with a game-high four 3-pointers, moving him up into a three-way tie for ninth in program history with 160 career treys. TWO FROM THREE: Tuesday night is the fourth time this season that Williams has 2

3 converted at least four treys. He has now had 15 games in his career with at least four treys. FRANKIE WITH THE ASSIST: With his seven assists Tuesday night, Frankie Johnson has now had at least five assists in 12 games this season, matching the number of games last season that he accomplished the feat. It is the eighth time this year Johnson has had at least seven assists. FRANKIE SWIPING THE BALL: Tuesday night, Johnson had a game-high three steals, giving him 49 for the season, matching his total from last season. The 49 steals for the year is tied for 11th-most by a Bulldog in a single season. Johnson s 98 career steals are just 10 away from the top-15 for steals in a career. CLEANING THE GLASS: The Bulldogs finished the game against VMI on Saturday, Feb. 17 with 49 rebounds, tied for sixth-most by a Bulldog team in a SoCon regular-season game. The 49 boards are the third-most this season by The Citadel as the Bulldogs collected 50 rebounds twice earlier this season against Oglethorpe (Nov. 10) and Western Carolina (Dec. 30). COLLECTING THE OFFENSIVE BOARDS: The Bulldogs 22 offensive rebounds on Saturday, Feb. 17 against VMI are tied for third-most in a regular-season SoCon game by a Citadel basketball team. NAJDAWI WITH THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Junior Zane Najdawi recorded the ninth double-double of his career Saturday afternoon with 23 points and 14 rebounds. It is the third of the year for the forward. NAJDAWI UNDER THE BASKET: Najdawi s 14 rebounds were just one shy of his career high set last season against Western Carolina (Jan. 19, 2017). The 14 boards are a season high for Najdawi, eclipsing his previous high of 11 set at VMI on Jan. 20. FRIERSON HEATING UP: Matt Frierson scored 20 points in Saturday s game against VMI, marking the fifth game of his career that the junior guard has accomplished the feat and fourth this season alone. IN ELITE COMPANY: With his five 3-pointers Thursday, Feb. 15 against UNCG, junior Matt Frierson eclipsed the 200 career treys mark, becoming just the seventh Bulldog ever to accomplish the feat. 700 CLUB: Frierson s 15 points on Thursday, Feb. 15 against UNCG gave him 707 for his career, making him just the third Bulldog on the current squad to eclipse the 700-point mark, joining Zane Najdawi and Quayson Williams. SETTING A PROGRAM RECORD FOR TREYS: The Citadel converted 18 3-pointers Saturday, Feb. 10 at Samford, setting a program record for most treys by a Bulldog team in a regularseason Southern Conference game. The previous mark was 17 set by the team against Chattanooga on Feb. 16, SWIPING THE BALL: The Bulldogs 13 steals Saturday, Feb. 10 at Samford are tied for eighth most by a Bulldog team in a regular-season SoCon game. The record is 19 set last season against Wofford on Jan. 2, SHARING THE ROCK: The Bulldogs 22 assists at Samford are tied for 11th-most by a Citadel basketball team in regular-season SoCon game. The Bulldogs had 24 twice earlier this season, including the first meeting with Samford on Jan. 11 and again two days later against Chattanooga. The program record for assists in a single SoCon game is 35 set against Furman back on Jan. 18, ECLIPSING THE CENTURY MARK: With Saturday s 103-point performance at Samford, the Bulldogs are now 14-3 under head coach Duggar Baucom when scoring at least 100 points, including 5-1 this season. The Citadel posted two 100-point performances during the season and went 7-2 last season when eclipsing the century mark. ZANE THE SCORING MACHINE: Zane Najdawi led all scorers on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Samford with 33 points, marking the 2nd time in his career that he has scored at least 30 points in a game and the 17th time in his career that he has scored at least 20 points. SCORING FROM ANYWHERE: On Saturday, Feb. 10 at Samford, Zane Najdawi converted four 3-pointers. The four made treys matches his career high set on Saturday, Feb. 3 against Furman at home. He also had a career-high eight 3-point attempts in the game at Samford. CAREER NIGHT FOR REED: Freshman Alex Reed had a career-high 20 points Thursday, Feb. 7 at Chattanooga, marking the fifth time this season the freshman has scored in double figures. It was also just the second time this season Reed has led the Bulldogs in scoring. REED FROM THREE: The game at Chattanooga marked the third game this season that Reed has converted four three-pointers. It marked the first time since Dec. 7, 2016 that a Bulldog had 10 or more assists. The last player to do so was Warren Sledge against Toccoa Falls. 700 CLUB: With his 10 points Thursday night at Chattanooga, junior Quayson Williams has eclipsed the 700-point mark for his career. Williams now has 706 career points. OVERCOMING A DEFICIT: The Bulldogs win over Furman on Saturday, Feb. 3 marked the first time since Feb. 24, 2011 that the Bulldogs rallied from a 17-point deficit in the second half to win a game. Previously the last time it happened, the Bulldogs won at Western Carolina after trailing by 17, at halftime. It was also the first time since Feb. 2, 2013 that he Bulldogs had trailed by at least 16 points in the second half before going on to win a game. Coincidentally enough, that game was against Furman and the Bulldogs won in Greenville. BREAKING A STREAK: The Bulldogs overtime win over Furman on Saturday, Feb. 3 broke up a four-game winning streak by Furman over The Citadel in the all-time series. WINNIG IN OVERTIME: The overtime win over Furman marked just the second overtime game for the Bulldogs this season as well as just the second overtime game at home since the campaign. TWICE AS NICE FOR NAJDAWI: Zane Najdawi was named the Southern Conference (SoCon) Men s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season by the conference office, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. Najdawi, who is also featured this week in CollegeInsider.com contributing writer Angela Lento s My5, was also named the SoCon Player of the Week back on Jan. 15, 2018 as well as twice last season, Nov. 15, 2016 and Dec. 6, NAJDAWI S SECOND DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Najdawi recorded his second double-double of the year and the eighth of his career on Saturday, Feb. 3 against 3

It was just the fourth double-double this season for The Citadel. WINNING ON A THURSDAY: Thursday s win over Wofford marked the first time this season that The Citadel has won on a Thursday. The last time the Bulldogs claimed a win on a Thursday was Jan. 21, 2016 when The Citadel went on the road and defeated Western Carolina The last time the Bulldogs won at home on a Thursday was earlier that season when The Citadel claimed a win over Mid-Atlantic Christian on Nov. 19, CAREER POINTS FOR NAJDAWI: Thursday, Feb. 1 against Wofford, junior Zane Najdawi scored his 1,000th-career point when he connected on the second of two free throws with 17:40 to play in the second half. Najdawi became just the second player in program history to score 1,000 points, collect 400 rebounds and block 100 shots, joining Matt Newman ( ) for the honor. Najdawi is just the 10th player in program history to score 1,000 career points in three years and is only the fifth Bulldog to do so as a junior. Five Bulldogs scored 1,000 career points in three years while the NCAA restricted freshmen from playing varsity basketball. Najdawi joined two other SoCon players in reaching the 1,000-point mark on Thursday, Feb. 1 as UNCG s Marvin Smith and Mercers Jordan Strawberry also accomplished the feat. DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR HARRIS: Sophomore Kaelon Harris recorded just the third doubledouble of the season for the Bulldogs Thursday night. It was also the first of his career as he netted 11 points and 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds is a career-high for the sophomore. 91-YEAR STREAK ENDS: The Bulldogs win over Mercer on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Macon was the first win for The Citadel in basketball over the Bears since the season. That year, The Citadel defeated Mercer four times, including in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) Tournament on March 5, The last Bulldog win in Macon came on Feb. 10, 1927 as The Citadel claimed a victory. It was also the first SoCon win over the Bears for the Bulldogs. DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR NAJDAWI: In the game at VMI on Saturday, Jan. 20, junior Zane Najdawi posted his first double-double of the season and the seventh of his career with 27 points and 11 rebounds in 33 minutes of work. NAJDAWI NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Jan. 16): Zane Najdawi was named the SoCon Men s Basketball Player of the Week by both the conference office and College Sports Madness on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Najdawi is the first Bulldog to win the award this season after earning the honor twice last season. OVERTIME: The game against Chattanooga on Saturday, Jan. 13 marked the first overtime contest for the Bulldogs since Jan. 2, 2017, when The Citadel defeated Wofford on the road. CONVERTING FIELD GOALS: The Bulldogs 37 made field goals against Chattanooga is tied for 12th-most by a Citadel basketball team against a SoCon opponent during a regular-season game. The record is 43 set against VMI on Jan. 13, AND 30: In the Saturday, Jan. 13 game against Chattanooga, Zane Najdawi and Matt Frierson became the first Bulldogs to score at least 30 points since Preston Parks netted 37 last season at Samford on Feb. 25, They are believed to be the first two Bulldogs to score 30 points in the same game. The last player to score at least 40 points for The Citadel was Patrick Elmore on Feb. 10, 1990 vs. ETSU. Najdawi s 37 points and Frierson s 31 were career highs for both. 3 PLAYERS WITH 30: In the game vs. Chattanooga, three players between the two teams netted at least 30 points, including Zane Najdawi and Matt Frierson for The Citadel and Makale Foreman for UTC. The last time three players all scored 30 points in a single SoCon game was on Feb. 25, 2017 in a game between The Citadel and Samford. Preston Parks scored a gamehigh 37 for the Bulldogs while Alex Thompson and Demetrius Denzel-Dyson led Samford with 35 and 30 points, respectively. EFFICIENT DOWN LOW: Zane Najdawi was extremely efficient in the Chattanooga game on Saturday, Jan. 13 as he converted 15 of his 17 field goal attempts (88.2%) while taking just one three-point attempt, which he also made. 3 FROM 3: Matt Frierson s nine 3-pointers made against Chattanooga on Saturday, Jan. 13, a career-high for the junior, is tied for second-most in program history for treys made in a single game. It ties the record for most 3-pointers made in a game against an NCAA Division I opponent. Fellow junior Quayson Williams made 10 3-pointers in a home game against M-A Christian on Nov. 19, Frierson matched Travis Cantrell and Aaron Nichols for players to convert nine 3-pointers in a game against a D-1 opponent. Cantrell accomplished the feat against Western Carolina on Jan. 12, 2002 while Nichols did so against Marshall on Feb. 4, CONVERTING THREE-POINTERS: When Derek Webster, Jr. converted his first-career 3-pointer in the first half at Wofford on Saturday, Jan. 6, it meant that every Bulldog on the team has made at least one 3-pointer this season. SWIPING THE ROCK: The Bulldogs recorded 17 steals against Wofford on Saturday, Jan. 6. 5 LEADING THE DOGS BACK-TO-BACK: Junior Quayson Williams posted back-to-back double-digit scoring performances against Furman and Wofford on Thursday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 6. It marked the first time this season he had accomplished the feat. Williams followed up a 15-point outing at Furman with 18 points at Wofford. It is the first time he has accomplished the feat since he went back-to-back-to-back with 12 points at Mercer, 11 points against Wofford and 15 points against Furman from Jan. 28, 2017 through Feb. 4, 2017 last season. WILLIAMS WITH THE STEAL: Not only did Williams lead the Bulldogs on offense, but he also led the team on defense as he matched his career high and set a season high with five steals on Saturday at Wofford. Coincidentally enough, the last time he had five steals was last season against Wofford on Feb. 2, CORRALLING THEM IN: with his five rebounds on Saturday, Jan. 6 at Wofford, Zane Najdawi recorded his 400th career rebound. CAREER NIGHT FOR RICE: Freshman Kaiden Rice set a new career high for 3-pointers made in a game Tuesday as he knocked down four treys against the Buckeyes. He also set a new career high for points scored as he netted 14. FORCING TURNOVERS: The 31 turnovers by Point on Saturday, Dec. 16 was tied for the fifth-most by an opponent in program history. Earlier this season, the Bulldogs forced Trinity Baptist to turn the ball over 38 times, the third-most in program history. SHARING THE ROCK: The Bulldogs recorded 22 assists in the game against Point, the third-most assists this season for the squad. WEBSTER S DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Freshman Derek Webster, Jr. recorded his first career double-double on Saturday, Dec. 16 against Point. It marked the first double-double of the season for the Bulldogs and first since Zane Najdawi scored 23 points and corralled in 15 rebounds at Western Carolina on Jan. 19, GETTING UP: Frankie Johnson s team-high eight rebounds against the Camels of Campbell on Thursday, Dec. 14 matched his career high in the category, set last season against USC Upstate on Dec. 3, BAUCOM IN WITH THE BEST: Head coach Duggar Baucom was listed in the top 10 of CoachStat.net s Top Quick Hitting D1 Coaches. Baucom is listed as No. 7 on the list of 25 coaches, a list that includes the likes of Oregon s Dana Altman (No. 1), Duke s Mike Kryzewski (No. 2), North Carolina s Roy Williams (No. 4) and Wichita State s Gregg Marshall (No. 19), among others. The writer had this to say, Baucom teams are always good in transition with the ability to score in a variety of ways. His offense has been called the sprint and strike and loot and shoot. Essentially, when you move the ball well, you get open threes quickly. SHOOTING AT A BLISTERING CLIP: The Bulldogs shot 61.3% (19-of-31) in the first half against James Madison on December 5. It marked the first time since Nov. 28, 2016, against Presbyterian that the Bulldogs shot 60% or better in the first half of a game. BLOCK PARTY FOR JOHNSON: Freshman Rob Johnson had a solid night defensively for the Bulldogs against JMU as he swatted away four shots and corralled in four defensive boards in 19 minutes of work. He also scored a season-high 11 points off 4-of-5 shooting. SHOOTING THE THREE: On Friday, Dec. 1 against Marist, the Bulldogs connected on 15 three-pointers as a team, the second-most treys made by the team this season. The 15 treys is tied for 16th-most in a single game by the Bulldogs in program history. The squad converted 21 in the season-opener against Oglethorpe, tying the program record. SHARING THE ROCK: On Tuesday, Nov. 21, The Bulldogs registered 32 assists in the win over Trinity Baptist off 45 made field goals. It was the fourth most assists by a Bulldog team in a single game. The program record for assists in a single game was set during the season when The Citadel had 42 assists against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Nov. 17, SWIPING THE BALL: The Bulldogs 25 steals off of the Eagles 38 turnovers on Tuesday, Nov. 21 were the third-most by a Bulldog team for a single game. The record is 27 set last season against Johnson on Nov. 13, SCORING IN BUNCHES: The Bulldogs 58 points in the first half against Trinity Baptist on Tuesday, Nov. 21 were the 11th-most points scored in an opening half by a Citadel basketball team. The most scored were 83 set during the season against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Nov. 19, FIRST ROAD WIN VS. HIGH POINT: With the win at High Point on Saturday, the Bulldogs are now 3-3 all-time against the Panthers and broke a threegame skid in High Point. Prior to Saturday s game, High Point had won all three previous meetings in High Point. FRESHMEN LEADING THE WAY: The duo of Tariq Simmons and Hayden Brown combined to score 44 of the Bulldogs 93 points Sunday, Nov. 12 at Virginia Tech, including 20 in the first half from Simmons and 13 in the second half from Brown. Brown started the game off by hitting his first seven shots and ended the game 9-for-10 from the field. With 22 points from Brown and 22 points from Simmons, it was the first time two freshmen had scored 20 or more points in one game since Preston Parks and Leandro Allende scored 28 and 23 points at Western Carolina on Jan. 19, WIN THE OPENER: The Bulldogs win over Oglethorpe on Friday, Nov. 10 marked the first time The Citadel had won the season opener since the season when the Bulldogs netted an win over VMI in the All Military Classic. RECORD PERFORMANCE FROM THREE: The Bulldogs made 21 3-pointers in the season opener against Oglethorpe. The 21 made treys matched the program record for most treys in a single game set on Nov. 9, 2007, when The Citadel connected on 21 of its 3-pointers against Daniel Webster. THE BULLDOGS SCORING 100 IN THE OPENER: The 109 points scored in the opener against Oglethorpe were the most the Bulldogs have ever scored against the Stormy Petrels and marks the most points scored in a season opener since the team scored 131 in a win against Daniel Webster. YOUTH BEING SERVED: Duggar Baucom is fielding one of the youngest teams in all of NCAA Division I with six freshmen, three sophomores, three juniors and no seniors. The Citadel is one of five teams in the country that have reported having no seniors and is one of six teams that have reported having three or fewer upperclassmen. HALF A DOZEN FRESHMEN: Only SoCon rivals Chattanooga and VMI, national powerhouse Kentucky and Northeast Conference school Robert Morris report having more freshmen than The Citadel. The Mocs and the Wildcats boast eight freshmen - seven true and one redshirt on each squad - while the Keydets and Colonials have seven. BREAKING DOWN THE FRESHMEN NUMBERS: Both Kentucky and Chattanooga s rosters are 57% freshmen and 50% true freshmen. George Mason is the next closest with 50% of its roster being freshmen and Robert Morris s roster is 47% freshmen. The Citadel s six freshmen make up 46% of the 13-man roster. UPPERCLASSMEN NUMBERS: Of the six teams in the country that have reported having three or fewer upperclassmen, Kentucky and North Florida each report having just two upperclassmen. Kentucky boasts the smallest percentage of upperclassmen with only 14% of its roster being made up of two juniors. UNF boasts the next smallest percentage of upperclassmen with only 18% of its roster being made up of two seniors and no juniors. The Citadel s three juniors make up 23% of its roster, the third-fewest in the country of those schools that have reported. 5

6 THE LAST TIME OUT FEB. 23, L, 70-83, VS. MERCER CHARLESTON, S.C. Junior Matt Frierson converted five 3-pointers Friday night, helping him set the program record for treys made in a season, but it was not enough as The Citadel men s basketball team fell to Mercer in the home finale at McAlister Field House. The Citadel (10-19, 5-12 SoCon) was able to hang with Mercer (17-13, 10-7 SoCon) for much of the evening, but a 60.7% (17-of-28) shooting performance in the second half by the Bears doomed the Bulldogs as The Citadel connected on just 41.9% (13-of-31) of their attempts in the second period. The two teams traded the lead back and forth 10 times, including eight in the first half. After Mercer took a one-point, lead into the break at halftime, the Bears trailed for just 50 seconds in the second half after Kaelon Harris converted a pair of free throws two minutes into the final period. Cory Kilby gave Mercer the lead back for good with 17:26 to play, but the Dogs were able to keep things interesting at times down the stretch. With 14:43 to play, Frierson hit a 3-pointer off an assist from Frankie Johnson to pull the Bulldogs back to within three, of the Bears, but a 12-3 run by Mercer extended the lead back out to double digits. Freshman Kaiden Rice managed to cut into the lead again with a trey with 52 seconds remaining, setting the score at 75-68, but Ross Cummings hit both free throws on the other end of the court and local product Demetre Rivers followed suit with a pair of free throws of his own to stretch the lead back out to double figures. For the game, the Bulldogs shot 36.7% (22-of-60) from the field, including 35% (14-of-40) from 3-point range. The Dogs converted seven treys in each half and shot 75% (12-of-16) from the charity stripe for the game. Mercer ended the game shooting 49.2% (29-of-59) from the field and 73.9% (17-of-23) from the free throw line, but hit just eight 3-pointers in the game. Four Bulldogs finished the game in double figures led by Frierson s 18 points. Frierson went 5-of-9 (55.6%) from 3-point range and converted all three of his free throw attempts. It is the fifth time this season that Frierson has led the Bulldogs in scoring and the 14th time this season he has converted at least four treys. Frierson now has pointers on the season, setting a new program record. Frierson was joined in double-digit scoring by fellow junior Zane Najdawi with 17 points off 6-of-10 shooting. Najdawi converted three of his four 3-point attempts and scored his first six points off treys. He added seven rebounds, giving him 496 for his career. Behind the pair of juniors, Harris scored 13 points and Rice was just two points shy of his career high with 12 points. Rice went 4-of-8 from the field with all four makes coming beyond the 3-point arc. For Mercer, Rivers led all scorers with 22 points off 8-of-15 shooting (53.3%). Jordan Strawberry just missed out on a double-double as he ended the game with 17 points and nine assists. Cummings was the final player in double figures as he netted 14 points. 6

7 THE LAST TIME VS. WESTERN CAROLINA DEC. 30, L, CHARLESTON, S.C. The Citadel men s basketball team opened the Southern Conference (SoCon) slate Saturday afternoon, falling to Western Carolina despite a last-second attempt to send the game to overtime inside McAlister Field House. With just under four seconds left, the Bulldogs (5-8, 0-1 SoCon) trailed by just two and inbounded the ball from under the basket to Zane Najdawi, who drove around to the left side of the lane for a layup, but his shot was heavily contested and was off the mark. Earlier in the half, the Bulldogs rallied from a 13-point, deficit with 9:17 to play to take a four-point, lead with 2:58 left in regulation when Hayden Brown hit a pair of free throws. In the first half, the Bulldogs led by as many as 16, with 7:32 to go in the opening period, but the Catamounts (5-8, 1-0 SoCon) closed out the half on a 25-3 run to take a lead into the locker room at halftime. The two teams combined for 54 fouls and both squads took over 30 free throw attempts for the game. 10 DUGGAR BAUCOM HEAD COACH (THIRD SEASON) Duggar Baucom was named as the 30th head coach in The Citadel men s basketball history on March 30, 2015 after a successful 10-year stint at VMI. In his second season at the helm of the program, Baucom and company posted 12 wins including a 5-0 start in McAlister Field House and a win in the Southern Conference tournament for the first time since The 12 wins in were the most since the season, most by a second-year head coach since and fifth-most in school history by a second-year head coach. Baucom also eclipsed a milestone of his own on Nov. 15, 2016 as he earned his 200th career win in dominating fashion with a victory over Truett McConnell. The Bulldogs, led by Baucom s fast-paced style of play, led all of Division I in scoring with a blistering 89.8 points per game, marking the seventh time a Baucom led team finished with the highest-scoring offense in Division I. During the season, the Dogs shattered eight single-season team records and six single-game records as they rolled to a win over Johnson University (Florida). The 146 points bettered the previous single-game points record Baucom set in season against Mid-Atlantic Christian by 14 points and the 80 second half points broke the previous record set back in In the same game, the Bulldogs tallied 27 steals against the Suns which ranked second in the nation while their 34 assists ranked fourth. The Citadel also scored 144 points on Dec. 7 against Toccoa Falls, giving them the two highest single-game point totals in the NCAA during the season. The team also finished with five of the 11 highest-scoring performances in the SoCon and for the second consecutive year, led the conference in scoring offense and turnover margin. After posting just two 100-point games in his first season, Baucom s squad racked up nine 100-point games with five of them coming on the road. The Bulldogs also had just five games with multiple players scoring at least 20 points last season but posted 10 games with multiple 20-point scorers and five games with a 30-point scorer in The Citadel s six freshmen racked up 57 double-digit scoring games and were led by SoCon Freshman of the Year Preston Parks. Parks, who was also named to the media all-freshman team along with Kaelon Harris, averaged 18.1 points per game and 22.1 points per game in conference play. Parks, who is the first freshman to lead the SoCon in scoring in conference play since Davidson s Stephen Curry in , is only the second Bulldog to ever earn the award. Baucom also guided Zane Najdawi as he increased his scoring average by eight points, posted six double-doubles and earned two SoCon Player of the Week honors, The Citadel s first weekly awards since Baucom also guided The Citadel to its first win at Wofford since 2007 and his first win on their homecourt as they downed the Terriers on Jan. 2, The Bulldogs also snapped an eight-game losing streak against Chattanooga on Senior Night, giving the class of 2017 their first win ever over the Mocs. The Bulldogs also hosted the inaugural Holy City Hoops Classic inside McAlister Field House, finishing 3-1 in the tournament. Baucom steered the Bulldogs to 10 victories in his first campaign at The Citadel with a roster that returned just 28.6 percent of its scoring from the 11-win season. In just one season, Baucom improved the Bulldogs scoring average as a team by 22 points as The Citadel finished second in the nation in points per game with 86.0 points per contest. His new system, defined by a blistering pace offensively and constant pressure defensively, made a significant mark in year one. Under Baucom s direction, The Citadel scored more than 100 points twice after the Bulldogs had done so just once since His first squad in Charleston shattered single-season school records for total team points, steals, field goals made and three-pointers made and ranked fifth among all Division I programs in turnovers forced per game. The Bulldogs also set a new program record for points scored in a single game with a jaw-dropping 132 points in a 72-point rout over Mid-Atlantic Christian. Baucom launched his tenure at The Citadel in style, leading the Bulldogs to a 5-2 mark through seven games, their best start since The hot start was fueled by three wins in three days at the Palmetto State Shootout. The Citadel s spotless week at the Shootout earned the Dogs a tournament title over Thanksgiving break. A month later, Baucom and company improved to 7-4 with a road win at Bethune-Cookman as the Bulldogs racked up the most points at the Wildcats Moore Gymnasium since Feb. 11, The Bulldogs battled through a tough Southern Conference slate to end the season and finished Baucom s first campaign 4-2 in games decided by three points or less. Baucom, who led the Keydets to three Big South Tournament championship games, is one of two VMI head basketball coaches to post two 20-win seasons. His team won 24 games, the second most in school history trailing only the team that advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. VMI s second-place finish in the Big South that season was easily its best since joining the circuit in It also resulted in Baucom s winning the NABC District Three Coach of the Year. In his first season at the helm, Baucom led Tusculum to a 19-8 overall record, including a 10-4 mark in conference action, and earned the conference s Coach of the Year honor. Baucom made his move to Greeneville, Tennessee, after serving as an assistant for three years at Western Carolina. While with the Catamounts he oversaw the recruiting efforts and landed several top players including guard Kevin Martin, a 2004 first-round draft pick of the Sacramento Kings. After three years at the helm of the AAU Charlotte Royals, Baucom became an assistant coach at Davidson for the season. He parlayed that into an assistant coaching position at Mars Hill for the next two seasons. There, he performed a variety of duties including scouting, film exchange, recruiting coordination and the development of strength and conditioning program. That experience helped Baucom to obtain the role of assistant coach at Northwestern (La.) 11 Daniel WILLIS ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH (THIRD SEASON) Daniel Willis, who spent the 10 seasons on Baucom s VMI staff from , followed his mentor to Charleston and now enters his third campaign as associate head coach for the Bulldogs. In his first season alongside Baucom at The Citadel, Willis helped lay the groundwork for the staff s high-paced offense and pressure defense. The Bulldogs went from averaging 64 points per game in to 86 points per game in (which ranked second in the nation) in just one season with Baucom and Willis at the helm. The Citadel set new single-season team records for total points scored, total steals, total field goals made and total three-pointers made. Willis aided his mentor in guiding a roster with just five returnees to 10 wins, including seven nonconference victories. In , Willis and company posted 12 wins while leading all of Division I in scoring with an average of 89.8 points per game and shattering eight single-season team records. The Bulldogs 12 wins were the most since the season as they picked up their first road victory over Wofford since 2007 and snapped an eight-game losing to Chattanooga. The Citadel also led the Southern Conference in seven different categories and for the second consecutive year led the conference in scoring offense and turnover margin. The Bulldogs continued to push the ball in their high-paced offense in , posting nine 100-point games with five of those coming on the road. Led by Willis and the coaching staff, Preston Parks and Kaelon Harris were named to the SoCon Media All-Freshman team and Parks earned SoCon Freshman of the Year honors. Parks is just the second Bulldog to earn the award in program history and the second to earn the distinction under Baucom and Willis after VMI s D.J. Willis spent his first two seasons in Cullowhee, N.C., as a graduate assistant coach while earning a master s degree, before being escalated to full-time status on the WCU staff in Willis graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, N.C., in 2001 with a B.S. in Sports Management and minor in Business Administration. He left as the South Atlantic Conference s (SAC) all-time leading scorer and was a consensus All-American guard, where he recorded 1,980 points for the Bears from That earned him a spot in the Lenoir-Rhyne and SAC Hall of Fame in 2014 and 2010, respectively. Among his honors as a player include National Association of Basketball Coaches/NCAA Division II All-American Second Team, Daktronics/NCAA II All-American Second Team and the Lutheran Brotherhood College All-American First Team. Willie Bell ASSISTANT COACH (THIRD SEASON) Willie Bell enters his third season under head coach Duggar Baucom after finishing up his second campaign coaching at the collegiate level. In an assistant role, Bell aids with player development and scouting. He and the staff implemented a brand new system at The Citadel in that featured Baucom s famous high-paced offense and pressure defense. In his second season at The Citadel, Bell and company led Division I in scoring with an average of 89.8 points per game and ranked in the top-16 in eight other categories. The Bulldogs also led the Southern Conference in seven different categories as they won their first SoCon tournament game since 2010 and posted 12 wins in , the most since the season. Bell also worked with Zane Najdawi as the sophomore increased his scoring average by eight points, posted six double-doubles and earned two Southern Conference Player of the Week honors, the first weekly awards for The Citadel since The Bulldogs set new single season team records for points scored, steals, field goals made and three-pointers made in on their way to 10 wins. Bell helped the squad improve its scoring offense by 22 points per game from the campaign as the Dogs 86 points per contest in ranked second in the nation. Bell joined Baucom s Citadel staff after serving as the head coach at Warwick High School (Newport News, Va.) in He led the Raiders to a overall record, including a 6-1 finish in the Pen South Conference, as he captured league Coach of the Year honors. Bell s unit garnered a pair of first and second team All-Pen South members. In , as the head junior varsity and varsity assistant coach, Bell helped lead Warwick to a record. The nine-win improvement at the varsity level from the previous season resulted in the Raiders finishing second in the Conference 9 regular season and postseason tournament. Prior to his stint at Warwick, Bell served as the head junior varsity and varsity assistant coach at Denbigh High School, also located in his native Newport News, Va. His first coaching experience came at Louisiana-Monroe in under head coach Orlando Early. Bell, who worked primarily as the skills development coordinator with guards and forwards, was responsible for the organization of team s travel plans. Bell also has coaching experience on the AAU circuit with the Boo Williams Summer League 15u Elite Team (2014) and with the Newport Legends ( ). He was also camp counselor for basketball camps at Davidson (2009) and VMI ( ). Bell, a two-sport athlete at VMI, played under Baucom for four seasons ( ) and was a member of the Big South Conference Tournament runner-up teams in 2007 and He was team captain of the unit that posted a 24-8 record, the second-best record in program history, while capturing a victory over Kentucky at Rupp Arena. He earned his degree in business economics from VMI in

12 Jack Castleberry ASSISTANT COACH (SECOND SEASON) Jack Castleberry enters his second season at The Citadel with eight years of coaching experience at the collegiate level under his belt. As Director of Basketball Operations, Castleberry oversees the administrative areas of the Bulldogs basketball program including practice coordination, team travel and supervision of graduate assistants along with other responsibilities. In Castleberry s first season at The Citadel, the Bulldogs led Division I in scoring offense and ranked second in turnovers forced and total threepoint field goals made while also shattering eight single-season team records. He most recently served as an assistant coach for the women s basketball program at Siena College from before opting to transition to a financial planning career for the last two years. Castleberry attended Virginia Military Institute and walked on to the Keydets basketball team. Following Castleberry s sophomore season, VMI hired Coach Baucom, who steered the Keydets to new heights of success. Castleberry played a major role in setting the precedent for that success as his relentless motor and work ethic on the court earned him a full scholarship. Coach Baucom named him team captain for the campaign and he led the Keydets to the most victories in a season in more than a decade. Upon graduation, Castleberry immediately landed an assistant coaching position at the University of Tennessee-Martin. Following a year there, he returned to VMI and worked under Coach Baucom from , assisting in player development, recruiting and scheduling and serving as the team s academic coordinator. KYLE COMBS DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS (SECOND SEASON) Kyle Combs enters his second season at The Citadel and first as the Bulldogs Director of Basketball Operations. Combs oversees the administrative areas of the Bulldogs basketball program including practice coordination, team travel and supervision of graduate assistants along with other responsibilities involving the day-to-day runnings of the program. A four-year starter and letter winner at Methodist University, Combs comes to The Citadel after teaching health and physical education at Reid Ross Classical School for the past year. While at Methodist, Combs was voted Most Improved Player following his sophomore season and was named team captain for his senior campaign. In 2013, he also served as the Vice President on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. While teaching at Reid Ross Classical, Combs returned to his alma mater to serve as the assistant men s basketball coach for both the varsity and junior varsity squads. During his time as assistant coach for the Monarchs, Combs served as strength and conditioning coordinator, coordinated workouts for the team and assisted with recruiting. He also assisted with scouting and creating practice and game schedules. Combs, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Methodist University in He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Leadership at The Citadel. 12
