58 About Simmons Multimedia Jake Kulland Sports Announcer - Langdon Jake Kulland hails from Williston, ND where he began his broadcasting career in the late 1980 s at KDSR FM. Other career stops included KBQQ FM at Minot and eventually landing at KNDK in Langdon in the early 1990 s where he hosted the afternoon show. When the opportunity arose to ply his talents as a play-by-play announcer something clicked and there was no looking back. Now having called over 1 thousand games, he has pretty much seen it all. Through the years Jake has received numerous awards and recognition including the National Sports Media Associations prestigious Sportscaster of the Year award in Jake is active in both the Langdon Eagles Club and American Legion Baseball. He enjoys golf and is a passionate Minnesota Vikings fan. Sean Ford is a New Hampshire native having served 2 stints in the US Army including three years with Armed Forces Radio while stationed at Incirlik Airbase in Turkey. Sean s resume includes stops at WFST in Presque Isle, Maine where he served as News/Sports Director. He also worked at heritage New Hampshire station WGIR in Manchester. Sean s play-by-play experience includes a 9 year stint as the voice of the Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York-Penn league a single A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Since November of 2011 Sean has been the voice of KXPO Sports. In addition to his Sports Director and Play-by-Play duties he is also host of the KXPO 1340 Morning Show. When not behind the microphone, you ll find him at the local golf course! Sean Ford Sports Announcer - Grafton Ryan Bachman was born and raised in Langdon, ND. During high school he played both hockey and baseball and was one of the lucky players of the 2016 Langdon Red Sox American Legion Championship team. Ryan graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a Communications degree. Upon graduation Ryan joined his hometown radio station KNDK as a Play-By-Play announcer where he continues to call local games. Ryan s fulltime job is as an insurance agent with Mostad Insurance Services of Langdon. 59 Winter Sports Overview by Jake Kulland KNDK 1080 AM Sports Director It s officially time to welcome in winter, as the Winter Sports Season is getting underway. Wrestling, hockey and girls basketball have already been practicing, and boys basketball will have their first practices starting the week after Thanksgiving. Looking back to last year, what a fun ride it was, when we saw a number of area teams excel in winter athletics. Our two area representatives at the State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament, Hillsboro-Central Valley out of Region 2 and Four Winds-Minnewaukan out of Region 4, played one of the most entertaining title games in recent memory, with the Burros winning it all on a buzzer beater. In Girls Basketball, North Star came one step away from a state championship, losing to a very talented Kindred squad, while Devils Lake made to the State A Tourney taking sixth. Park River-Fordville-Lankin also finished fifth at the State B. Wrestling saw a number of grapplers place at State last year. Area high school hockey saw Devils Lake made State last year, and Grafton-Park River is hoping to turn things around this season with a new coach and a new attitude. We are ready to go once again this winter to provide coverage of all our area teams in Northeast and North Central North Dakota in all these sporting activities on our four Simmons Multi-Media stations: KNDK AM 1080, 1340 AM KXPO, and on our Rock Farm FM signals, 95.7 in Langdon and Grafton.
