10 JENERRIE HARRIS HEAD COACH Second Season Career Record: Jenerrie Harris enters her second year at the helm of the River Hawks after being named the seventh head coach in program history on June 26, Harris first season in the Mill City was the most successful for a rookie head coach, as the team finished with an overall record of and 7-9 mark in America East play. She picked up her first win as a head coach in a triumph over Mt. Ida on November 24th, before her squad beat Fairleigh Dickinson, 78-67, for her first victory against a Division I opponent on Nov. 30th. Harris was also selected as one of 30 coaches across the nation to take part in the Center For Coaching Excellence by the Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). In her time in Annapolis, Harris was a part of three regular season championship teams and three Patriot League Tournament Championship teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament. During a historic season, Harris helped the Midshipmen win their first outright regular season championship while winning the most games in school history. She was also an integral part during the teams campaign where they earned the Naval Academy s first NCAA Tournament appearance. Her previous positions include being an assistant coach at Wright State from 2006 to 2009 and Longwood from 2005 to At Wright State she helped recruit former Washington Mystics guard Shey Peddy. Playing under Head Coach Bernadette Mattox, Harris became the first walk-on during Mattox s tenure to earn a scholarship and start at the University of Kentucky. Harris graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology in The 14 wins nearly tripled the program s win total from the season. Harris also saw Shannon Samuels named to the America East All-Conference Second Team for the second consecutive year, as well as Lindsey Doucette named to the America East All-Defensive Team. The River Hawks decision over Vermont was their 13th win of the year and gave Harris the most wins in their first season of any of the seven coaches in program history. Harris tied Deborah Preis ( 76-77) with 12 victories when UMass Lowell beat New Hampshire, 70-65, at the Tsongas Center on Feb. 21. Harris came to Lowell after serving as the associate head coach to Stefanie Pemper at Navy during the season. Prior to being promoted she had spent four years as an assistant coach to Pemper.
