Brecksville-Broadview eights notched its first Suburban eague National Division Conference win of the year with a convincing 37-7 victory over conference rival Cuyahoga Falls in eek 5. The Bees (3-2) were led by the efforts of quarterback Joe abas, who threw three touchdowns. abas' first touchdown pass was a 32-yard strike to wideout Joe iglusz in the first quarter. e then hit Jordan Shaheen for a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter. abas then found Shaheen again in the third quarter for a 54-yard score. Twinsburg (3-2) is led offensively by dual quarterbacks Seth Grabowski and dam Van der Motter. Running back Cam Ron McClain has been a steady force in the rush attack. Christian Edgerson and Tre Radford are dangerous weapons on the outside. Defensively, linebacker James Grammens is one of the top players in the league and Isaiah Savitt continues to be a huge impact player on special teams and defense for the Tigers. Both teams are vying for a spot in the Division II, Region 5 playoffs so the stakes are extremely high in this league tilt. Cam Ron McClain ran for a 15-yard TD and Christian Edgerson caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from dam Van der Motter to stake the Tigers (3-2) to an early 14- lead. owever, tied the game at 14 prior to halftime. The Bears scored three touchdowns in the third quarter surrounded by a kickoff return for a TD by Isaiah Savitt and another scoring run by McClain to take a lead into the fourth quarter. put the game away with a touchdown run by Jake Franczak in the fourth quarter for a 13-point advantage. Twinsburg was hurt by four turnovers and the Bear almost doubled the total plays from scrimmage for the Tigers at McClain ended up with 97 yards on the ground and two TDs for Twinsburg. Edgerson had 1 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Tigers. The Bears improved to 3-2 and snapped a two-game losing skid. Prior to coming to Twinsburg, Bell served one year as the head coach at Eastlake North and had a very successful -year run as head coach at ake Catholic in Mentor. In seasons at ake Catholic, the Cougars won 6 NC Championships, qualified for the state playoffs 8 times (playoff record of 17-8) with 5 Regional Title appearances (23, 26, 27, 29, 2) and 3 state semifinal appearances (27, 29, and 2). Part of that is the involvement of those outside of the players and coaches, including the administration, the community and perhaps most importantly, the football parents. Bell said the Tigers are extremely lucky to have the support of The Gridiron Club at Twinsburg and he doesn t take it for granted. It starts with our administration doing a great job getting our young men the equipment and necessities for the game, but when you think about all the extras to make us a first-class program that is where the Gridiron Club comes in and really help us, Bell said. There are a million ways for parents to get involved and I always encourage parents to get involved and do what they can because it doesn t last forever at the high school level obviously. The years go fast. The Gridiron Club is an organization of football parents in grades 7 through. There is no fee to join and all members of the community are welcome to attend meetings. The Club meets the second Monday of the month at Twinsburg igh School. Meetings begin at 6: p.m. ll of the fundraising is run through Twinsburg thletic Boosters. The Gridiron Club raises funds to help support the team off the turf. From purchasing a new sound system for the locker room to feeding the boys on Friday nights and scrimmages, purchasing football gear such as t-shirts and cinch bags, senior gifts and hosting the end of year banquet. 5 1ST ND IT CESIE NGSTON angston is the ead Cheerleading Coach at Twinsburgh igh School 1 - hat is your background and how did you get into the position as cheer advisor for the Twinsburg football team? - I coached at Rootstown igh School for a few years while completing my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. My last semester of school I moved to Fort Myers, Florida where I worked with 1st grade but came to realize I was missing my favorite season, Fall :). I moved back almost two years ago and have worked for Kent City Schools. I wanted to get back into coaching; then I stumbled upon the application for Twinsburg igh School ead Cheerleading Coach. I applied, and sure enough here I am on my second year with an MZING group of girls! 2 - hat is your favorite part of Friday night lights? The best part about the game day experience? My favorite part of Friday night lights is seeing the Twinsburg Community come together as a family. hen you look into the stands and see the community, the student body, and the parents all rallied together to cheer, there is a swell of pride that fills everyone's chests.
