COMMITMENT e talk about it being an all-the-time thing, not when it is comfortable or convenient. hat kind of player do you want to be? hat kind of impact do you want to have on the program? EXECUTION Everyone has dreams of being great, but to actually go out and make it happen through hard work is something we strive for. It has to do with effort. The nice thing is individually we control all of those things in PCE, Bell said. The Tigers are on a 3-game winning streak led by a balanced offensive attack. QB dam Van de Motter has had back-to-back solid games running the offense and moving the ball in the air. Jamir James, Jameel Banks and James Besett are all dangerous offensive weapons. Defensively, Twinsburg has been a bend-but-don't break unit, allowing some points, but making stops when needed. Rashad Jones-and has been the most consistent producer on that side of the ball, but there are several playmakers. The Tigers are currently 8th in Division II, Region 5, and with games against 6-0 adsworth, udson and 5-1 to close the year, this is shaping up as a critical game vs.. BE RINGING - Tigers ead Coach Mike Bell discusses last week's game against Brecksville and the upcoming week 7 game vs "I was really pleased with how well our young men handled themselves leading up to the beginning of the game. e had experienced some issues creating a certain amount of adversity and they handled it well, came out and took care of business, and played the kind of game they were expected to play. I can't say enough about the leadership our seniors are showing right now, I'm proud of them and all the other young men in our program." " certainly is not your typical team. They have played some incredibly tough opponents and played them well. They have guys on the field that are capable of making big plays at anytime and have one of the best players in Ohio on their roster, drian oliver, who plays both ways this year. Despite all of those things the key to our success this week is going to be in our approach to preparation, and the mental mindset that we not only carry throughout the week but also the one we take on to the field with us on game night. Success this week will require both physical and mental toughness from everyone involved in our program." 3 ED COC MIKE BE IRED FEBRURY 4, 2015 Mike Bell is in his fourth year as coach of the Tigers and is looking to build on his past successes, bringing winning football back to Twinsburg. Prior to coming to Twinsburg, Bell served one year as the head coach at Eastlake North and had a very successful 12-year run as head coach at ake Catholic in Mentor. In 12 seasons at ake Catholic, the Cougars won 6 NC Championships, qualified for the state playoffs 8 times (playoff record of 17-8) with 5 Regional Title appearances (2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010) and 3 state semifinal appearances (2007, 2009, and 2010). Prior to 2002, Bell served as the Cougars' defensive coordinator for three seasons, winning the Division III State Championship in Prior to coaching at ake Catholic, Bell spent three years at illoughby South as a position coach and defensive coordinator, four years at Maple eights, and two seasons at his alma mater Pymatuning Valley. Part of that is the involvement of those outside of the players and coaches, including the administration, the community and perhaps most importantly, the football parents. Bell said the Tigers are extremely lucky to have the support of The Gridiron Club at Twinsburg and he doesn t take it for granted. Twinsburg is one of the most used athletic facilities in Northeast Ohio. Twinsburg officials say 's field gets used upwards of 950 times each year for various athletic events and practices -- from football, to soccer, to regional sporting events. In the summer of 2015, the Stadium received a major upgrade to the playing surface. New field turf was installed featuring a unique blue border and a large Tiger logo at midfield. 5 1ST ND 10 IT UR EBERT EBERT IS TE PRINCIP T TINSBURG IG SCOO 1 - hat is your background and what led you from Virginia to Ohio? s a military brat, I went to high school in Dayton (Stebbins) and then attended Ohio State where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies Education. I taught one year at Bexley S and then worked as an Industrial Engineer for 6 years with Rockwell International. owever, teaching and coaching were always what I wanted to do, and so I returned to education and taught at Bishop Ready for eight years. During that time I coached field hockey (Bexley was State runner-up to udson in the late 80s), basketball, softball, and volleyball. I also played field hockey while in high school. I moved to Virginia in 1996 where I began teaching at Manchester igh School in Chesterfield County. I eventually entered administration and served as a Dean, ssistant Principal and Principal at various schools in the county, ending my tenure as Principal of.c. Bird igh School in I left that position to return to Ohio, to be closer to my family. I am excited to begin my tenure as the principal of Twinsburg igh School, and look forward to an exciting career here in the snow belt! 2 - hat is the biggest difference in high school education from Virginia to Ohio (culture, students, parents, facilities, staff, athletics, etc.)? Really, there is not a discernible difference in Virginia and Ohio as it relates to students, parents, staff, etc. Kids are kids, and student-athletes are student-athletes where ever you go. I have found the facilities to be nicer than where I was in Virginia but I think that is mainly due to turf field (pretty much a rarity in central V). I am a little biased about athletics, as my former school was an athletic powerhouse, winning 7 state championships in the past 6 years - 3 back-to-back football championships, 1 boys basketball, 1 cross country and one boys track. Our girls basketball was state runner up during that time as well. But, Twinsburg is On The Prowl, with Girls Soccer as our most recent example (currently ranked 9th in the state and looking at an undefeated season!). Cross country, track and bowling are all contenders as well. Of course, football is back on track with their winning ways, and I love the way Coach Bell relates to his players. 3 - hat do you feel should be the role of athletics in the student-athlete's high school experience? thletics builds character, and teams build relationships. hile athletics should not be the end-all, be-all, they are definitely important to a comprehensive high school experience. Spectators as well as participants have an opportunity to be part of something greater than the individual, and that is an important lesson to learn. Schools did not do that in V and I think it forms a band between the students, the band, and the student-athletes.
