Anze Kopitar recorded a multi-assist game (0-2=2). He now has four points (0-4=4) in the preseason. Dustin Brown posted his first goal of the preseason (1-0=1). The goal turned out to be the GWG. Drew Doughty saw his first action of the preseason, posting a game-high 22:55 TOI. He also scored a PPG (1-0=1) and was credited with two blocked shots. Jonathan Quick won his first start in the preseason, stopping 16-of-17 (.941 SV%) shots in 40 minutes of action. Martin Jones stopped all seven shots he faced in the third period. He has now stopped 74-of-79 shots he has faced in the preseason. He has posted a.937 SV% and a 1.70 GAA in four appearances this preseason. The Kings are now in the preseason. Los Angeles Kings Preseason Notes KINGS TOPPLE SHARKS IN RETURN TO SAN JOSE In the Kings first game back in San Jose since game 7 of the First Round of the Western Conference playoffs, they prevailed 4-1 on Tuesday, Sep. 30. With Drew Doughty and Jonathan Quick each making their preseason debuts, Los Angeles overcame an early 0-1 deficit by scoring four unanswered goals. Doughty tallied a PPG (1-0=1) in his first game back, while Quick stopped 16-of-17 shots (.941 SV%) in 40 minutes of action. Justin Williams was the first star of the game, registering three points (1-2=3), while Dustin Brown (1-0=1) tallied his first goal of the preseason (GWG). Anze Kopitar also got into the action with two assists (0-2=2). The Kings have pushed their preseason record to 4-0-1, one point behind the first-place Arizona Coyotes with one game in hand. KINGS STILL UNBEATEN IN REGULATION DURING PRESEASON The Kings knocked off the Ducks for the second time in four nights with a 4-2 win on Sunday, Sep. 28 at Honda Center. Jeff Carter tallied a hat-trick (3-0=3) to lead the Kings to victory. His line mates, Tyler Toffoli (0-2=2) and Tanner

9 Pearson (0-2=2) each had multi-point nights. Toffoli leads the team in assists (five) and points (six) through the first four games. Carter leads the team in goals (three) and is tied with Pearson for second on the team in points (five). ANOTHER GAME, ANOTHER SHOOTOUT The Kings and Ducks played the first half of their preseason home-and-home series on Thursday, Sep. 25 at STAPLES Center. The Kings came from behind, after trailing by two goals midway through the second period Jordan Nolan and Dwight King scored 2:48 apart to tie the game. Tyler Toffoli scored his first goal of the preseason at 11:13 of the third period to give the Kings their first lead of the game, but the Ducks tied the game just 37 seconds later on a goal by newly acquired Ryan Kesler. In the shootout, Toffoli and King each scored a goal, to give the Kings their second shootout win of the preseason. TWO SHOOTOUTS, ONE NIGHT The Kings and Coyotes played two games on Monday, Sep. 22, with the home team prevailing in each game and both contests ending in a shootout. In the home half of the split-squad meetings, the Kings were led by Marian Gaborik (2-0=2) and Anze Kopitar (0-2=2). The two goals marked the fifth time (including playoffs) in his Kings career he has posted a multi-goal effort. Andy Andreoff started the scoring off for the Kings, just 2:21 into the contest. Andreoff (drafted in the third round, 80th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft), played in 76 games last season with Manchester (AHL), posting 11-24=35 points. Martin Jones stopped all nine shots he faced in the first half of the game, and Jeff Deslauriers came in and turned aside 14-of-17 shots, including 3-of-4 in the shootout to earn the win. In Glendale, Los Angeles was led by Tanner Pearson (1-2=3) and Mike Richards (2-0=2). Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter each chipped in with two assists of their own, as the Kings fell to the Coyotes 5-4 (SO). The three points marks just the second time in Pearson s career that he has tallied at least three points at the NHL level. J.F. Berube started the game and stopped 15-of-16 shots, while Patrik Bartosak came in half way through the game and stopped 18-of-21 shots. KEEPING THE STREAK ALIVE The Kings have kept their streak of 24 years in a row with a point percentage of at least.500 in the pre-season. They are currently (.900) this pre-season. Los Angeles is (.638) over that time REGULAR SEASON STARTS ON OCT. 8 The Kings will open the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at home against the San Jose Sharks. The team will raise their second Stanley Cup banner before the game. 11 KINGS TO RETIRE ROB BLAKE S NO. 4 JERSEY IN A SPECIAL STAPLES CENTER CEREMONY IN JANUARY Former Los Angeles Kings captain/defenseman and current club executive Rob Blake will have his No. 4 jersey retired by the Kings as part of a special pregame ceremony at STAPLES Center on Saturday, January 17, prior to the Kings-Ducks game, the club announced today. Blake who is also being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November will become the sixth Kings player to be so honored by the organization, joining Luc Robitaille (#20 / 2007), Wayne Gretzky (#99 / 2002), Dave Taylor (#18 / 1995), Marcel Dionne (#16 / 1990) and Rogie Vachon (#30 / 1985). Blake s white jersey from the silver and black era will hang from the STAPLES Center rafters. It is an honor to be included with the former great LA King players who have their Jersey s retired. I have always felt LA was a special place to play and it was and is a tremendous privilege to put on an LA Kings jersey, said Blake. Blake is the all-time leader in games played, goals, assists and points by a Kings defenseman. He played 14 of his 20 NHL seasons with the Kings ( and ). He served as the Kings captain from and again from (six total seasons). He helped lead the Kings to the Stanley Cup Final in 1993; won the franchise s first Norris Trophy in 1998; captured a gold medal at the 2002 Olympics; and made seven trips to the NHL All-Star Game, including four representing the Kings. Blake was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth round (70th overall) of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Simcoe, Ontario, Blake played college hockey at Bowling Green State University. He made his NHL debut with the Kings during the season, and his final game came in the 2010 postseason with the San Jose Sharks. Blake s NHL career included stints with the Sharks ( ) and the Colorado Avalanche ( ), where he won a Stanley Cup in He recorded 777 points ( =777) in 1,270 regular season games while in 146 playoff games, he registered 73 points (26-47=73).
