4 Toronto Aeros Girls Hockey Association Before anything else, on behalf of the Toronto Aeros Girls Hockey Association, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and advertisers for their never-ending support of the Toronto Aeros hockey program. Costs of competitive sports continue to climb and without their support we would be unable to offer the same top calibre elite program we offer today. We encourage our friends, families and the broader hockey community to extend their support to these individuals and businesses highlighted in our Media Guide. At the core of our hockey operations we have outstanding, passionate volunteers who we consider to be the best of the best to support our athletes: coaching staffs, managers, therapists, equipment managers, academic advisors, staff, etc. This incredible Aeros ecosystem surrounding our players helps every single individual in setting high goals in hockey and academics, ultimately setting the path for their careers and life long success. Thank you to all of them for the investments they make in our athletes achievements. We are constantly reminded that every year the bar is being raised in the female hockey community. We are gratified that other programs grow increasingly stronger across Ontario--this is great news for our sport and female athletes! In order to lead further forward progress, we continue to strive for continuous internal improvement, working harder than ever to maintain and build further upon our Tradition of Excellence in all aspects of our organization. The challenge to provide the highest possible levels of hockey and personal development possible is one we take extremely seriously. TM The 5th Season. When teammates become best mates. We re proud to support over 5,000 community hockey teams across Canada. The 5th Season is the hockey season. It s when kids learn the value of working hard and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of a team. That s why we sponsor so many teams at the community level. So that more players grow up to support each other, and learn all of hockey s valuable lessons. #The5thSeason * Registered trademarks of The Bank of Nova Scotia. In that vein, we take much pride in our growing relationship through the joint Program of Excellence with the North York Storm and their elite level teams. Since with a particular focus on their Bantam AA program initially, we have shared our development and practice models, and coaching expertise, including practice opportunities with our Midget AA team etc., to provide their players with enhanced opportunities to advance towards their longer term goals. Since that time, several NYS players have successfully transitioned to our Midget and Junior teams, and we expect that trend to accelerate going forward. In , we have extended further high levels of support and commitment to the Peewee AA level, and look forward to a continued mutually beneficial relationship with North York going forward. Accordingly, featured rosters in our Media Guide include not only the Junior and Midget Aeros, but also our NYS Bantam AA and NYS Peewee AA Aeros affiliates. The season finished with the Midget Aeros winning the Gold Medal in the LLFHL, and the Junior Aeros winning Silver in the PWHL. In addition, at the 2017 OWHA Provincials our Midget squad won a second consecutive Silver Medal. With the building blocks firmly in place, we look forward to replicating our high levels of success in our Program of Excellence affiliate teams in coming seasons. We also celebrate that virtually all Aeros alumnae continue on to play hockey in either the NCAA or CIS, despite a very demanding academic schedule. Highlighting the strong calibre of our players, we maintain representation each year too with Team Ontario, National U18, U22 and National Women s teams. As Scotiabank, a lead Aeros sponsor likes to say, we are about to enter the Fifth Season where players Dream Big, and we encourage all of our girls to do so both in hockey and beyond! She further studied all facets to offer greater support to all Aeros players. Families increasingly turned to her for advice, and once her daughters went on to play at and graduate from Harvard and Yale, her role grew through word of mouth within and beyond the organization. Deb developed a roadmap and various tools and checkpoints to help Aeros successfully achieve timely SAT targets and navigate the process to find their best fit. Since 2008, Deb has led annual Educational Planning Workshops for us, plus numerous other organizations, as well as providing in-depth advising with individual athletes in many sports. With an extensive track record over many years in helping players overcome numerous obstacles to reach their NCAA goals, Deb is a valuable resource in all aspects of the U.S. university selection and admission process. Lou and Deb work closely together to help our players who aspire to NCAA play have all the ongoing knowledge, advice and support they need to access those opportunities. Deb has also been Managing Editor of our Media Guide for the past 11 years. Lou Vedovat Academic Advisor In addition to his role as an Associate Coach with the Aeros since 2006, Lou also helps keep our players on track academically to meet Canadian and U.S. university entry as well as Clearinghouse requirements. He has helped players with essays, tutored them in sciences and math, reviewed their course selections and assisted in discussions with University coaches. Lou can proudly say that due to his efforts, more than a few of our less-scholarly Aeros players have made the grade and gone on to University careers. Sarah Rabinovitch R.Kin., CAT(C), RMT Director of Athletic Therapy Sarah s Aeros experience began in 2009, as Athletic Therapist for three seasons with our Junior team. Sarah is now responsible for Concussion Management for all Aeros teams, supervision of our team Athletic Therapists, as well as assisting in some on-site game coverage. With eight years of clinical therapeutic experience and a passion for proper concussion care, she currently works at Thornhill Rehab & Chiropractic Centre specializing in Concussion Therapy. Sarah is a Board Director for the Ontario Athletic Therapist Association, and has degrees in Physical Education & Health from University of Toronto, and Athletic Therapy from Sheridan, as well as an RMT diploma. Jeff Potter Equipment Manager In his seventh consecutive year serving both Aeros teams, Jeff was also with our Senior team in when they won the NWHL and National titles. In the interim, Jeff was Equipment Manager for several other NWHL and PWHL teams. He is well known in hockey circles, having many dedicated client players in the NHL, AHL, OHL and NCAA who come to him to achieve better performance with their equipment, and he is often seen packaging up specially sharpened blades or other special equipment to be shipped on a rush basis to the far ends of the hockey world. We welcome Jeff back this year. RBC Dominion Securities Inc. Proud to support the Toronto Aeros Why not you... believe!!! 6 Good Luck to both Toronto Aeros and North York Storm for their Seasons This season, our Alumnae Event will tentatively take place on Saturday, December 23, Check for details to be posted closer to the event. Toronto Aeros Girls Hockey Association Toronto Aeros Alumnae Since its inception, the Toronto Aeros Girls Hockey Association has achieved an impressive record of success in assisting players to accomplish their aims for higher education, while continuing their athletic career at the next level. Over the past 10 seasons alone, 115 players graduating from the Aeros program have continued to play at the NCAA Division I, Division III or CIS level. With the majority of our players during that time period moving up to compete at NCAA Division I universities (86 players), the Toronto Aeros have established a long track record as the foremost source in North America for Division I student-athlete placement. Since 2008, 30 Aeros Alumnae _ more than ¼ of these graduating players _ have successfully matriculated to Ivy League educational opportunities. We are incredibly proud of all of our alumnae in the realization of their efforts to achieve their full academic, athletic and personal potential, at the university of their choice. It is our hope that their time as an Aero helped instilled in them the value of excellence in all they do, and wish them well as they continue their journey in pursuit of life-long success! We have improved upon the TECHNIQUE over the years to a point that it has now become a trainable science that can be taught to any age and level. We have worked with players as young as 5 years old up to players currently playing professional hockey. IMPROVEMENT IS GUARANTEED. The Rinks: The rinks that we use are mini rinks (40 25) that are REAL ICE.
