4 Training camp notes CAMP ROSTER The Senators camp roster includes 57 players: seven goaltenders, 17 defencemen and 33 forwards. Twenty-five (25) players participated in the 2013 rookie camp and tournament in London, Ont. The list of camp invitees was built primarily around the Senators draft. Thirty-five (35) players were selected by Ottawa in NHL entry drafts, seven were acquired in trades, 12 as free agent signings and three on professional tryout contracts. The Senators abbreviated season camp roster included 27 players: three goaltenders, nine defencemen and 15 forwards. The list of camp invitees was built primarily around the Senators draft. Eighteen (18) players were selected by Ottawa in NHL entry drafts, five were acquired in trades and four were free agent signings. ROOKIE TOURNAMENT The Senators participated in their 13th rookie camp and tournament this September. This year s tournament was held in London, Ont., with the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs also participating. Team: Ottawa (NHL) Acquired: Traded from Colorado in exchange for Brian Elliott on Feb. 18, 2011 Draft: Chicago s third-round pick (73rd overall) : Was recognized as the NHL s First Star of the Month for Jan., posting a record... Concluded the season leading all NHL goaltenders in both goals-against average (1.69) and save percentage (.941) These marks were both also the best in franchise history, besting Ron Tugnett s 1.79 ( ) and his own.939 ( )..
