13 *NEW* LIVESTOCK MOVE IN TIME CHANGE ALL LIVESTOCK MUST BE IN PLACE IN BARNS ON THE FAIRGROUNDS BY 4:00 PM ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 4, NO EXCEPTIONS. DUNF FORMS All market poultry, market steer, market hog, market lamb, market goat, dairy goat and dairy cattle livestock projects must complete Drug Use Notification Forms (DUNF) certifying their animals are drug free. These are required to be turned in completed (all correct boxes checked, specie circled). Forms must be presented prior to weigh-in. Some species will be required to turn in at registration on Saturday. Incomplete forms = no show/no sale. State laws require all market animals be drug-free on the date of show, sale and slaughter. This includes residue from drugs and medicated feeds. If your animal is treated during the fair for any approved reason, you must submit a new DUNF. FAIR VET During fair check-in, the Senior Fair Board provides Veterinarians to inspect animals coming in. If your animal needs a Vet during the fair, it is the exhibitor s responsibility to contact and pay for a Vet s service. All Vet s must be approved by the fair vet on call before providing care. KEEPING IT CLEAN! Keeping your animal s pen clean during the fair is your responsibility. It s important for the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone including your animal. Here are some barn rules you need to know: Clean animal pens out daily. No tack, show boxes, feed, bedding, etc. will be permitted in any livestock pens. This allows better air movement. Special areas will be designated for tack in the hog, sheep, and goat barns. Make room for everyone keep your things neat & compact. Do not leave water buckets or pans in pens. It creates a mess. Instead, water your livestock several times each day. Hogs should have a PVC waterer. All stalls must be cleaned out by Sunday, August 12 at 12:00 noon or you will be ineligible to exhibit an animal the following year. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS At the fairgrounds, all livestock must go through a veterinarian check at the gate. Animals should be displayed in a way as to be easily seen. Blankets and other coverings must be removed prior to the vet check. Any animal having problems such as ringworm or warts must be taken care of prior to fair. Health papers are only required for dogs coming to the Jr. Fair Dog Show. It is your responsibility to take good care of your animal prior to and during the fair. If your quality of care doesn t meet Ross County Senior Fair Board standards, you will be dismissed and not allowed to exhibit livestock the following year. STALLS & PENS No stall/pen changes will be permitted without special permission granted from the specie Jr. Fair Superintendent. See rule under the Jr. Fair Livestock Rules in the Fair Book for details. This applies to designated club/aisle tack areas as well. SHOW TACK NO tack is to be removed from the Sheep, Swine, or Goat Barns before 12 noon on the last Saturday of the fair. To teach life skills of: - self-understanding (self-esteem) - social interaction (getting along with others) - decision making - learning skills (learning how to learn) - physical skills. And, working with children in the Cloverbud age group (K-2) is a lot of fun! Cloverbud age is a great time to enjoy time with your 4-H child and appreciate their energy and inquiring minds.
